  1. How fun! I can't wait for my shower, but I know I will be a nervous wreck as well. Your cake was cute, and I really love the bedding. Where is it from?

I hope everything works out for you. It sounds like you have been going through hell. The only wedding related things I did this weekend was pick up FI's wedding band, and ordered necklaces and earrings for my BMs and flower girl. My cousin makes jewelry so she is making them for me. I will post pics of them when she's done. I got immodium and advil from Sam's for OOT bags. I'm estimating 30 bags right now, but I'm waiting to order the bags or cooler (haven't decided which yet) until I know the exact guest count. I figured if I bought too much extra we can put doubles of stuff in the bags. We have received 8 RSVPs so far, unfortunately most of them are from the people who already booked their trips so I knew they were coming anyway. I did get a couple from extended family that are not coming. Those are the ones I am waiting to get since I haven't heard anything from a lot of the extended family and just want to get them crossed off my list if they don't plan on coming. I don't think most of them will come, but you never know who may decide to show up.
  3. The ice cubes and decorations were too cute.
  4. The purse game sounds fun! I have never heard of that one. There are two games that involve someone reading a story and the people at the table pass around a bottle of wine or some other kind of prize according to what the directions are in the story. One is where it involves the people at the table youngest, oldest, married the longest, blondest hair, etc. The other is about Mrs. Right and you pass it every time they said right or left in the story. The last person with the prize at the end of the story wins. This game is more baby shower related, but I think it was fun and probably can be tweaked for a bridal shower. We did a trivia game of celebrity kid's names for my cousin's baby shower and everyone really got into it. People were calling people at home to look up names on the internet for them. It was wild. Maybe you can do something with celebrity marriages.

  6. How fun! Keep us posted on what happens.

I'm totally confused and my parents and in laws need my decision by Monday so they can put the deposit down! We are expecting a min of 50 ppl. I've looked into Dreams (no1 has gotten back to me after about 10 requests that I've submitted), Iberstar Lindo (Riveria Maya), Gran Bahia Principe (which so far I like bc the WC responds so quickly), Riu Palace Las Americanas (which I like as well, but cant figure out re: private party), and a few others that didn't have my date available. Can any1 recommend me a hotel to look into that will work with the private party I need? HELP HELP HELP PLEEEASSEE!!!! I am getting married at Iberostar Lindo. You cannot have a private dinner at either the Lindo or the Maya. Your dinner will be semi-private since it is in one of the restaurants (of your choice), and then you can rent out the Los Vitrales room (recommended) or the Disco (not the best looking decor for a wedding). You can have a private dinner and reception at the Del Mar if you rent out the Tropical restaurant. I think it was $800 to rent out the room for the night, but think you still have to pay the per person fee. The Del Mar is also cheaper for guests, but they don't have access to some of the pools that guests staying at the Lindo or Maya have access to. Also, if you have the wedding at the Lindo and your guests want to stay at the Del Mar they need to buy a day pass to get on the lindo property for the wedding. There are no exceptions on this so you may want to keep that in mind. If they stay at the Lindo and the wedding is at the Del Mar a day pass is not needed. The Grand is the most expensive, but they don't allow kids.
  9. Those are cute, and I like that they have a zipper. I may have to look into those once I know how many bags I need.
  10. Wow, he sounds like a real a-hole. He just seems like he's a miserable man and is trying to make you just as miserable. I wouldn't even waste a breath trying to be nice to him. If there is nothing you are doing wrong with your fence building then let him cry wolf again. Pretty soom no one will listen to him anymore and he'll have to find someone else to bother.
  11. I wish you luck! Depending on what kind of position it is it might be a steady income for you. My FSIL has been a mortgage broker for 20 years and works solely on commission. She has always had steady referral base and has made good money, but since the economy hasn't been that great she hasn't been getting much business. Usually when she does though she gets a big fat check. She just really has to budget her $ for those down periods.
  12. I printed my STDs and invitations on my home printer which is an inkjet. I thought they came out fine. I actually think it ends up being cheaper to have Kinko's print them, but I never ended up going there for a quote. SOmething I discovered when printing my RSVP cards is that you have to wait for the ink to dry before touching them. I smeared the ink on one page. I printed those on a shimmer cardstock so I'm not sure if that made the ink dry slower than the regular cardstock, but I only had that happen with that paper.
  13. I wonder if the people that are selected are compensated. I would do it, but my wedding is in November.
  14. I was trying to decide what to do with my hair as well. I hope that my hairstyle for the wedding day lasts so I won't have to bother with it. I will be wearing makeup though. I need it!
  15. I think that is a cute idea if you are having young flower girls. My little sis is standing up and she is so excited to be a flower girl and understands what she has to do. Although, she might have enjoyed being a fairy too if I had given her that option.
  16. Alyssa, you always have the most interesting polls. My FI and I don't fight that much, but when we do it is usually about him not helping around the house. I am a neat freak and he is the complete opposite. I have grown to be a little more relaxed about the cleaning since living with him, but I still like things neat. I will let things slide for a while and just pick up his stuff and put it away, but I can only it in so much before I explode. I have to beg him to help me do things around the apartment and then when I ask he doesn't help or it takes him 3 days to do something. It is so annoying. On the other hand he gets mad at me because I always leave the lights on when I leave a room, but I only do it if I know I am going back in that room in a few minutes. It drives him crazy, but I figure that is what he gets for not helping me clean more.
  17. That is crap! My TA told me specifically to direct all guests to her with questions as I should not be bothered with anything travel related.
  18. All of your stuff looks great. I love the floating orchids and all the bling!
