I have been trying to determine which would be best myself. My thought was to do welcome bags with stuff people might forget (toothbrush, sunscreen, etc.), and also including postcards, brochures of things to do, and a bottle of tequila. My plan was to arrive early to pick out the local items to put in the bag and to have the bags be given when they check in, but I'm not sure how that will work out if guests arrive before or when we do. Plan B would be to give them the gifts at the welcome party as a thank you for coming. I think either would be appreciated.

Hello, I'm waiting for confirmation from the resort on our wedding date, but due to two other recent engagements in the family I want to make sure I get the STDs out as quickly as possible once confirmed. I sent an email out a couple months ago to immediate family and close friends to let them know location, tentative date and cost (I only had '07 rates, but wedding will be Nov. '0. I plan on inviting extended family as well, but wanted input on location and price range from those closest. Since the extended family was not included in the email, I'm not sure what our guest count will actually be so I was wondering if I should include RSVP cards with the STDs? I realize it might be tentative since I'm sending them out pretty early and they may change their mind depending on what the '08 prices end up being. Thoughts? Also, how soon before the wedding should invitations be sent?

Hello, I am new to the site and am waiting on confirmation from this resort if Nov. 7, 08 is available. I have seen some pictures, but am wondering if anyone has had their wedding there and can provide some more details. My fiance and I plan on staying in the Maya, and some of our guests will be doing the same. Some of the other guests may stay in the Lindo or Del Mar depending on what the cost is for 08. I want to have a barefoot beach ceremony, and have heard that you can have the ceremony between the Lindo and Maya which is more private (?) otherwise the beach by the Lindo has lounge chairs right by where the ceremony would be. Also, they said the dinner would be in one of the restaurants, and then we plan on renting one of the private rooms with a DJ for afterwards. If anyone can provide pics or more detailed information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'll be sending mine once I have the date confirmed with the resort which should be soon. I sent an email out to my immediate family and close friends with the tentative details and approximate price based on 2007 rates since Nov. '08 rates are not available yet. This way I had a tentative headcount of who would come and they knew approximately how much $ they would have to save. I felt the more notice people had the better.
