  1. I initially thought we would right around 50, but now I think we may have less. We have 16 guests booked so far, but we're sending out the formal invitations in about a week so hopefully we'll have a more accurate count once we get RSVPs.
  2. I like the personalized gift idea, but the same gifts for everyone is probably easier and keeps it equal.
  3. Don't change your plans! If your FI is really still for having the DW without his parents there then you should stick with it. It is your day, do what you want.
  4. I may have to officially answer after my wedding, but I am glad we decided to hire an outside photographer. I think we will be so much happier with our pictures.
  5. I've heard Jeweler's Mutual is good as well. I have been putting this off, but I definitely need to contact them.
  6. My friend's cousin sells it so she usually tries to get my friend to have parties every now and then. I think she does OK with it and she only works PT. The candles smell really good, but some of their stuff is pricey.
  7. Awe! That is so cute that they did that.
  8. Welcome! I'm getting married at the Lindo in November.
  9. I'm getting married at the Lindo in November, but have never been there personally. I have heard form others that have stayed there recently that it is fabulous.
  10. My boss is actually taking our team to go see the movie at 2:00 and then we are going out to eat and drink afterwards.
  11. OK, I just sent you a PM because I saw your new pic on one of your posts before I got to this thread. I love the new cut and color! I can't wait until after the wedding to chop my hair off again. I just got a trim on Friday, but I had her cut some bangs since I needed to do something and those grow pretty fast. I also got highlights. My natural color is a medium-dark ashy blond, but I went reddish brown last year for a change. It's a hell of alot cheaper to go dark than getting highlights!
  12. Your backyard is freaking awesome! The table is cute. I like the color.
  13. I hope this works. Here is the link to the thread where I posted a pic of my invite sample. I didn't change anything on it, but when I get home I'll take a pic of the finsihed product with the RSVP and Travel cards so you can see how they turned out. I ended up getting thinner ribbon in both the green and pink color to tie around the invite once it is folded closed. I couldn't get the big ribbon to stop fraying. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t17645-4
  14. I am almost done with my invitations. It took me almost all of Saturday to print and cut them. Then on Sunday I had FI and FMIL helping me. We had quite the assembly line. I stamped the palm tree, FI poured the embossing powder, and FMIL worked the heat gun. I bought one of those xylon adhesive machines, but didn't buy a backup cartridge so we only got about 32 invitations done before I ran out. I'll need to go an pick up some more to assemble the rest. I printed our return address on clear labels so those have been put on the RSVP envelopes and the back of the main invitation envelope. I still need to print out the address labels for the guests and get stamps for the RSVP cards. I'm hoping to finish them during this week so we can get them in the mail. I will be so happy once they are out and we can start getting some replies.

But anyway, I was wondering more about birthday parties. If you have a birthday (or a child with a birthday) around this time, did you have birthday parties growing up? How did that work? My concerns are that I'm wondering if Aiden will always have crappy birthday parties. I mean I'm sure family will come, that's a given. But I wonder if friends would be able to make it because it is such a busy time of the year. Especially when he's younger. I only had one birthday party growing up so I sort of always dreamed of being able to do a birthday party each year for my kids (at least while they are younger), now I'm wondering if that's going to be a bust. LOL. I have too much time on my hands today! My b-day is Dec. 1, and I always had a family party combined with Thanksgiving, but I had a separate kid's party scheduled sometime around my birthday up until I was about 9 or 10. After that I just had a family party. I would get some combo gifts at Christmas from family or friends that I didn't see at the time of my birthday, but those that did that usually got me a bigger more expensive gift so it didn't really matter to me. My cousin's birthday is Dec. 30 and she always had a separate birthday party, but would also get some combo gifts at Christmas.
  16. Wow! First, I can't believe she went into the story about her personal life to a complete stranger and the way she handled the whole thing is ridiculous.
  17. Great pics! My favs were the one of the couple in the mirror and on the piano. Very cool.
  18. That is so sweet! What a great keepsake.
  19. We looked into having a wedding at the Lake Las Vegas Resort before deciding on Mexico. That place looks absolutely amazing and I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful. I love the pink shoes!

I thought I was the only one so thank you Morgan for making me not feel like a loser. We are not doing the whole garter/bouquet toss. We don't have a lot of single people coming so there really is no point and I really had no interest in doing the garter thing. I hate having attention on me especially for something like that. I will be getting one that FI can take off later.
