But anyway, I was wondering more about birthday parties. If you have a birthday (or a child with a birthday) around this time, did you have birthday parties growing up? How did that work?
My concerns are that I'm wondering if Aiden will always have crappy birthday parties. I mean I'm sure family will come, that's a given. But I wonder if friends would be able to make it because it is such a busy time of the year. Especially when he's younger. I only had one birthday party growing up so I sort of always dreamed of being able to do a birthday party each year for my kids (at least while they are younger), now I'm wondering if that's going to be a bust.
LOL. I have too much time on my hands today! My b-day is Dec. 1, and I always had a family party combined with Thanksgiving, but I had a separate kid's party scheduled sometime around my birthday up until I was about 9 or 10. After that I just had a family party. I would get some combo gifts at Christmas from family or friends that I didn't see at the time of my birthday, but those that did that usually got me a bigger more expensive gift so it didn't really matter to me. My cousin's birthday is Dec. 30 and she always had a separate birthday party, but would also get some combo gifts at Christmas.
