  1. Another thing to consider is the extra perks you may get through booking a group rate. FOr example, some tour companies offer every 15th or 20th trip free - group seating on the flights - group transportation to and from the hotel etc. It depends a lot on whether or not you think most ppl will travel on the dates arranged by the TA...
  2. We have the SHARK and LOVE it! Use it on hardwood, tile and slate floors and it's great (and chemical free for the dog)!
  3. welcome! my birthday is 7.7 too (but 197!!!! Quote: Originally Posted by Seven Nah! My real name is Lucie. But my birthday is 7.7.79 so I use Seven as my user name often. Thanks for responding to my thread.
  4. Hey there! We got our rings in TO - FI's is a Tungsten as well. We got them at Damas Diamonds in the Diamond District (Yonge and Dundas Square). Marko is the owner and he's really nice..
  5. We did a legal ceremony so the majority of our was what was required by mexican law. In terms of "personal add ons" -we did write our own vows and sand ceremony and given them to our judge. We asked and asked for a "script" as well but were told it differs somewhat depnding on which officiant you get.. If you wanted my script I could post it here!
  6. If it's any consolation - it took me 5 months to choose a hotel because I was worried about cost and we had guests flying from Toronto and Calgary. In the end - ours was about 1825 pp out of toronto and over 2000 pp out of Calgary. As Jill pointed out in her earlier post - people aren't going to choose to go or not for a difference of 200 or 300 hundred bucks.. I was worried nobody would come because of the cost and we had 58 guests. Just given plenty of notice and everything will work out!

The group rate was the same for every guest (including us!). The way most bulk rates work is that to "secure" the group rate you need to have a minimum of 10 ppl book. We had our parents, grandparents and sibligns put down deposits before we even sent out our invites. We told ppl they could: 1) book through our TA and get the group rate 2) book on their own and look for a different rate Cost wise - the group for us was a little bit cheaper but not by much. For us it was about having everyone on the same flight and arriving and leaving on the same days.
  9. We did the group rate through Air canada vacations. 10 ppl booked with a deposit confirmed the rate which was good until about 6 weeks before teh wedding.
  10. Congrats! You look sooo happy and radiant - cannot wait to see more pics!
  11. Hi there! We used Visual Cravings for our Engagement Session and also for our wedding (we took them with us to Mexico). They are an amazing couple who's pictures are to die for. Here's a link to our engagement sessions! Toronto wedding & portrait Photography | Visual Cravings » Melissa & Ben’s eSession slideshow
  12. I will have to say the same as Kelly - It worked out fine in the end - but it took a long time to get there - was I 100% happy - of course not. She doesn't speak english so the communication barrier is there from the beginning. Just give yourself tons of extra time - remember that it really isn't a big deal in teh grand scheme of things!
  13. Is it 100% silk? FI had a custom silk/cotton/poly blend suit made and did not want to wear it in the pool and ocean. He did and it was fine. He just left for work today wearing his suit!
  14. Welcome! What a nice sister you are! My fiance is from Calgary originally so we had a large portion of our guests travel from Calgary. One thing we did notice was that, because there are less all-inclusive packages, the prices tend to be much higher to some places then toronto (ours ended up being a 300 difference for Toronto and Calgary departures Per Person!) Maybe speak to a TA when you are trying to narrow it down for cost..
  15. Most people ordered them in bulk from Oriental Trading- they're great and they ship to Canada too which is a bonus!
  16. We arrived on Sunday and had a welcome dinner that night in which we handed out 95% of the bags (since most ppl arrived the same day we did). I just handed out the last few to ppl indiv as they arrived. In terms of shipping thing there - I would check with your resort and also be weary that anything can be held up at customs .. so it may never make it to the hotel.
  17. I agree with Tammy. It's much easier for you to have a TA to act as a liason between you and your guests and your guests and the hotel/travel company.
  18. YAY BUMBLES WELCOME BACK! Hope you are enjoying being a MRS. Cannot wait to hear all about it! Happy Wedding Day Yamille! Sending BDW love to you!
  19. Remember too that people look at this as a vacation. We sent out our save the dates about 11 months in advance - although I knew a DW was what I wanted - I was afraid no one would come. In the end we had 59 ppl and most of the ppl I wanted there were able to make it.
  20. Congrats and Welcome! Check out the Paradisus thread too - lots of great info!
  21. I would agree with Becks - I think that 3 months prior is good to start pressuring Perla. I had the same concerns about all the details - would I have enough time to get all the small stuff done 4-6 weeks out. We sent out STDs in January. I found that by late Summer, we pretty much had a sense of who was coming and who wasn't. We didn't even send out formal invitations - as people put down their deposits they were added to the list. Of course we had a few book late - but I was able to design everything 3-6 months out and then start making final decisions later on. Things like name cards, welcome bags etc. I started on and did them as people booked...
  22. We have been together for eight years and combined within the first 2 years. We have three joint accounts (chequing, mortgage savings and savings) and then indiv chequing each - all with the same bank. All the money goes to the joint chequing through direct deposits for our pay and then we move stuff around constantly. Works perfectly! We both buy what we want from joint and if I want to save for something secret for him I just transfer little bits to my personal chequing..
