  1. Welcome and happy planning!
  2. We each wrote long notes to our parents and in-laws. The night before the wedding - i ate dinner just with my mom and dad and sis and FI his Mom and Dad and brother - we each gave them the notes we had written for them. We also gave each a "parent" version of our wedding album - it's identical - just a smaller version!
  3. Hey ladies! I found that I was glad that I stocked up in the summer for our November wedding - when September came around there wasn't much available in terms of flip flops, bags, sunscreen, etc. so stock up before Sept 1 if you can - I know I was glad I did!
  4. HAPPY WEDDING DAY BUMBLES!!!! Yamille - safe travels and we will all be waiting for your return (with pics of course!)
  5. YAY BUMBLES! Have the most amazing day ever!!!!! - we will all be sending wonderful positive vibes! Cannot wait for the full review when you return!
  6. Funny you should ask since we all continue to wonder the exact same thing...
  7. Speaking from experience ... Yes you can get banned for donating points. That's the rule that the forum has developed. Even if someone doesn't ask you to donate and you want to do it on your own it's not allowed. I was banned for 30 days. Bumbles - in terms of the dress code it really was a crap shoot for us. We were down there for our Site VIsit and then the wedding and the policies were enforced differently both times. I think that it really depends on how busy/full the resort is which will dtermine the number of people who want dinner reservations. DH wore leather flip flops most of the time but they were pretty strict on the no shorts policy, especially at the French restaurant.
  8. YAY Freckles! Welcome back! Soooo happy to hear that you had an amazing magical day. Of course now we are all holding our breath for pictures!
  9. Michelle you are sooo close! Perla is one of the sweetest hardworking people I met throughout the planning process! Tell her Melissa and Benjamin say hellO!
  10. I always use US b/c it's harder for them to change loonies and toonies American 1 dollar bills are great for tipping!
  11. We arrived back with the original spanish version. I had it translated through a certified translator who stamps it as well with her "seal"
  12. We brought our Spanish version back with us and had it translated for $70 and then I was able to use the English version to do all the name change stuff...
  13. I have missed you all so terribly. My one month ban is over... I have sooo much to catch up on!
  14. Yes it does. Basically, whatever is in the package is what you are paying extra per person for. so the $15 should cover all of that.if you are adding things on then that's a whole other ball game!
  15. The Wish Package is only for 6 ppl. The Fantasy and Aqua I think are for 20. For every person over the allotted amount - you pay for everything per person extra.
  16. Great thread! To be honest.. I really miss the planning and I am unfortunately not relaxing and out of planning mode just yet! We bought a house just before the wedding so that has taken up a lot of our time since early December. My BF is having a baby in July so working on her shower stuff. My little sis is getting married in October and I am the MOH so that is keeping me super busy as she is not a planner at all.
  17. There is also Carlos Mannia (Use the search function - there are tons of reviews on Carlos!)
  18. It was perfect. The weather during the day was low 80s and the evenings were nice - most ppl had a little cardigan or pashmina and that was all. The day of our wedding was the nicest evening of the week - most people went with out. We had an outdoor reception and it was perfect!
  19. YAY! That's what we're all here for.. and everyone inevitably goes through it.. probably the one downside to planning a DW!
  20. Tons of great suggestions ladies! We got married last November and had a really hard time getting summer stuff (esp for the kids OOTS) after labour day so it's a great chance to stock up over the next 6 months if you are getting married in the fall/winter!
  21. That is a great brochure.. wish we would have had thatt! Robinhood - you hit the nail on the head. It's not about what they have available in terms of centrepeices etc. - any picture is fair game. You can get exactly what you want. We sent Perla two pics of a cake - I said I want this style (pic 1) but this colour (pic 2). It was identical. Let her know your price point (if you have one!) going in..
  22. Deep breaths ladies.. deep breaths! And I was right there on your soapbox with you egssarah - I am a lawyer... enough said. I analyze and can make a case for (or against) almost anything. I debate with FI about whether to buy toilet paper in bulk. Unfortunately while Perla and Daniela are sweet and nice and competent, they don't get that we want ALL the information. Not some, not 50% not half ass, but ALL. I never got all the information from them - I will say that past brides on this thread saved me, gave me the details, sent me info, posted costs.. in fact, we worked through the numbers together. The prices are ridiculous. But in a way - they have a monopoly because they hold all the cards - the linens are ridiculous. We paid $10 A CHAIR for the dinner chairs (and we had 60 people). We paid $4 A BOW (christ I could make them for 50 cents) - somethings I let slide because I didn't have the time, and others I refused (like the centrepeices). At the end of the day - all that matters is that the people that are the most imp to you and your FI are there to witness your day. Do I wish I would have stressed less about the chairs, and linens, and centrepieces? ABSOLUTELY. People commented on how nice everything was - but frankly... i think it would have been amazing if I hadn't worried about the colour of the table cloths for two weeks. :smil e03:
  23. We chose flowers and cake without seeing them, and we did a site visit. We sent her pictures of what we wanted for bouquets and the cake and then she told us the price that it was going to be. Julie - do you any idea what you want your cake or flowers to look like? If you decide before hand - you can just send her the picture - it's better that way because then you know the cost and have room to negotiate before you are actually down there. In terms of the chairs - there is no choice for the "free" ones. We upgraded for the reception but again did not see these - picked from a picture what we wanted. We did look at the linens and did a tasting but that was all on the site visit three months before the wedding. You can choose when you're there - but in reality you are going to be looking at the same pictures at the hotel that she's sending you - so it's easier to decide ahead of time and then you can budget accordingly.
