  1. In terms of the site visit - it all depends on what you negotiate. We got a reduced rate (we went for four nights) but they won't give it to you for free. Daniela is Perla Assistant - Perla was promoted to "Romance Manager" when Elisa left last year but they work in the same office side by side. On another note, I hate to be a bitch but please don't ask for emailed attachments. The whole point of posting attachments on this forum is for people to download and for me to not have to email it to 15 people. Downloading takes points and points can be earned through posting and sharig thoughts and ideas.
  2. It looks as though they have kept the food prices the same - those are the same prices she gave me from 2007 - but they have added a few options!
  3. You get points by posting so keep posting - in the meantime I will donate some points to you so you can download the attachments! 4. In terms of the appetizers - we picked the ones we wanted and then Perla gave me a per person price - this should all be outlined in t he packages I posted a while back!
  5. Me again! The other thing I wanted to post for you girls (and boys) is my final email to Perla - it's a 15 page word document outlining every detail - I sent this to her about a week before we left: the email was as follows! I am apologizing in advance for this lengthy attachment (15 pages!) - You know by now how particular I am about everything so I have tried to highlight everything we have talked about over the last year and included it. There are also diagrams for the set up for everything as well. There are also a few things that are highlighted that I wanted to bring to your discussion - a couple of questions but also a few things that I cannot recall whether we decided on something specific. I have also indicated some things in red - these are specific items that I am bringing down! FINAL EMAIL TO PERLA.doc
  6. The prices are per vendor - what I found worked really well is that I would email her back and say "Perla, please confirm that the total outside vendor price for X is $300." Print out all your emails and take them with you. With respect to the meal - we had surf and turf - keep in mind that we customized everything so I picked each course, exactly what I wanted, the order etc. the "surf" portion was an extra $18 pp on top of the per person cost for the dinner.
  7. Awe thanks - we are still waiting on the rest from our photogs! Jumping in the pool was our TTD two days after our wedding - my dress has never looked so clean!
  8. We had our website with all the details and our TA information - some people booked immediately through the TA once visiting the site. When we sent out the paper invites, we included all the TA information again. If you are going with a group package through a TA, there is often a cutoff date for booking which helped us out a lot. Realistically though, you will have people book up to 4 weeks before -we did!
  9. In Canada it's a bit different, but here's what I found on Wikipedia! Common abbreviations of engineering disciplines (U.S. and Canada) An abbreviation of the discipline is often used to represent an engineer's degree where one might typically use M.S. or Ph.D. Several are potentially ambiguous, especially P.E. 10. We did the entire wedding (legal and all) at the Paradisus. We arrived on the Sunday - Monday we met with Perla who took us to the clinic - had the blood drawn, and then signed the paperwork. 30 minutes tops. We got married on the Thursday and left on the Sunday with our legal certificates in hand. I have had no issues using the certif for name changing purposes here in Toronto. The only glitch was license and health card because they only accept french and english certif - so I had to get it translated (they gave me a translator) and that's that!
  11. Whoa this thread is active again! LaurenandBill - Totally overwhelming in the beginning because there is soo much (or little information) and so many decisions to make. I will donate some points to you so you can open the attachments posted in the 24 pages of this thread! My suggestion would be to take a few hours, open a bottle of wine, and read through every post in this thread. I think most of your questions re centrepieces, restaurant reservations will be answered - the ladies in this thread are amazing about sharing information. I used SWANK and he was fabulous - again I think I posted a whole bunch of info in this thread. We sent him our schedule for the day, play list, do not play list, mother son song, father daughter song, first dance etc. and he was wonderful.
  12. Meredith - we did have to request the larger tables - Perla said there was two sizes - 8 person and 10 person - we didn't have to pay more for these. Congrats Laurenandbill - Welcome to the Paradisus Team! Egsarah - Chair covers are included - the wish package includes 6, fantasy includes I think 20 (or however many ppl are in the package etc.) - Bows are not included in any of the packages. Centrepieces are not included - you pay for those per table depending on what you what. Ceremony Gazebo - I believe that the basic gazebo is included in the packages (just the wooden part with some white fabric) but this may have changed since I was there!
  13. In terms of the table sizes - we went with the larger tables (which were meant for 10) but had tables with 8, 9 and 10 ppl just depending on couples and who we wanted sitting together.. SHitty that the DJ issue is such a big one - and it's too bad b/c SWANK was wonderful to work with and a great DJ..
  14. We had 59 ppl and the dancing on the terrace was awesome! Tons of space (keep in mind that not everyone dances!) everyone went barefoot as well so no worries about splinters and all that..
  15. FI and I stayed apart the night before the wedding. About 1 hour before the ceremony, I had our photog deliver it - but I also asked that FI was alone with the photog when he opened it and that everyone else was out of the room..
  16. I sooo hope Naomi gets the big fat kick to the curb tonight!!
  17. YAY! Welcome back and congrats! I can see from your photos how in love you are..
  18. Just wanted to give Toronto brides the heads up - Went to change my drivers license and health card yesterday (assuming) and was informed that I need to have my Mexico Wedding Certif (in Spanish) translated to English as they only accept English and French. They will give you a list of certified translators - 70 bucks and a week later..
  19. I also got my dress from Ritche and they have some great options! You should do some internet searching for off the rack sales in Toronto, there tend to be a lot of those!
  20. thanks ladies! Abbie - he keeps the BD box (it's like a leather box with all the matted pics) on his bedside table.. it's too funny!
  21. We received these on the weekend and cannot wait for the rest - the one of DH with a shocked look on his face is his first peak at my BD pics!
  22. YAY! Congrats on becoming a MRS. and welcome back!
