  1. Welcome egsarah! Normally Perla responds pretty quickly (within a couple of days) but I know that Daniela left Paradisus at the beginning of DEcember so as far as I know Perla is on her own.. I would email again on Monday... Perla doesn't work on Sundays for the most part.
  2. Legally changing your name is not the same as assuming. In Ontario, if you assume your husbands name your documents (i.e., license, passport etc) can be his last name or a hyphenated version but your birth certificate remains the same. If you wish to use your legal name again, you simply revert back by presenting your birth certificate as proof of your legal name. If you legally change your name you actually change your birth certificate which is why it's so hard to change it back. Here's the link to the government site.. 3. I'M BAAACKKK! Hi ladies and gents! I am back from a fabulous honeymoon and have had a hard hard time adjusting to reality! Glad to see that this thread is still going! Kelly - are you back?
  4. I ordered my veil from Wedding Veils and Bridal Veils for about 10 bucks... it was a one-tier, shoulder-length veil and it was perfect...
  5. I know for us the microphone was necessary for the reception as we couldn't hear much without it. Maybe talk to Perla about it and see what she has to suggest!? Ladies - we are leaving tonight unitl January 10 on our whirlwind honeymoon to Chile and then on to Walt Disney World so I won't have access to internet much! Kelly (KLC77) - Have an amazing wedding - I hope it's everything you dreamed it would be and more - cannot wait to hear all about it when I'm back! Have a wonderful and safe holiday everyone!
  6. Doggy Daycare is huge here in Toronto - Barney was previously in about 3 days a week - what a huge benefit for both us and for him - great way to socialize your dog. Now that we've moved - we have a dog walker that comes Monday to Friday and takes him out with his "Friends" every day for a 2 hour adventure.

Welcome and congrats! This is a great resource to help you make your decision!
  8. We are spending about $7500 for two weeks in Chile and a week at Disney World - that includes one way to Chile on points...
  9. Sandra - sorry that I didn't respond to your PM but I didn't get one! Unfortunately the bags were ordered from Hawaii and I had them shipped here - I wouldn't recommend it! How many are you thinking of buying - there is a place on Spadina in China town that sells them for 6 or 7 bucks each if you only needed a few..
  10. Sandra - glad to hear you found a great florist! Not to be a downer but have you checked with Perla to see if she counts as an outside vendor? I would hate for you to be dinged with a $300 fee for not using the resort (which is their policy)
  11. I cannot really speak to the make-up as I had my own artist (who was a guest do mine). In terms of hair - it is Leticia but we had two up dos and two wash and styles and Perla was happy to bring in additional stylists - you will need to ensure that you let her know this well in advance - I told her what time we would all be coming and she set everything up. In terms of price - If I recall correctly the trial was about $45 bucks and the updo about $70 - I will need to go back and check my records on this. Perla can give you these prices as well. The white fabric for the ceremony and reception was something that we did ask for and I think it's pretty customary - I don't think there were any extra charges for that...
  12. Dana - I hate to sound like a broken record but you should really read through the other posts and the reviews that I (and others) have posted on the Paradisus as these are all issues that we have discussed and provided details on at length - happy to answer specific questions that haven't been covered off but I would start there..
  13. Awe thanks Dana! We had 57 ppl. We priced it all out and to get what we wanted at the most reasonable cost we found that the WISH package was the best way to go...
  14. Welcome Dana and congrats! Yamille took all my advice - spend a couple hours with a glass (or two) of wine and read through these pages. The sky is really the limit in terms of what you want - if you have a vision and you know what you would like it's probably most effective to start with the WISH and add on. The lists are just a starting point really - and to be honest if you want something totally private etc. you will pay the premium costs for it - it's just the way it works at all the resorts! Happy Planning~
  15. Me again! Here is the link to all the pics that I have uploaded (and a few videos) including one of the mariachi - I hope you ladies find these useful - I am updating as I receive pics.. Shutterfly
  16. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT LOOK AT TRIPADVISOR. You will drive yourself nuts. Ok - off my soapbox - They do allow outside photogs - if they are staying with you at the hotel there is no cost - if not, its $300 to bring them in. The beach is decent, nice sand but lots of seaweed - they do rake it regularly but it's not a prisitine "magazine-like" beach or the kind you find in Punta Cana.
  17. I used traslucent paper (peel and stick) and kept the corners squared - when I stuck it on the white First Aid Kits it was rarely visible..
  18. we did not tip. A 15% service fee was provided in all of our food and beverage costs ($7500) which I thought was sufficient. The other thing to think about is some resorts (including ours) require all staff to pool tips and gratuities which are divided equally. I bought Perla a beautiful thank you card and wrote a heartfelt message from both of us inside. I also thanked her in my speech at the wedding and had her come up to the podium so Ben and I could give her a big hug!
  19. OMG I love her! I guess I need to start bugging DH again about getting a brother or sister for Barney!
  20. The cocktail reception was on the far side of the terrace - we had high cocktail tables spread out although ppl mingled on the beach as well. That area also doubled as the dance floor post-dinner - the appetizers and high tables were removed and VOILA!
  21. I missed it too! It was truly amazing- both the wedding day and the week at the Paradisus - I am eagerly awaiting pics but have posted my review! (B/C i KNOW better)
