We just threw my cousin a baby shower a few weeks and I was part of the "gaming committee". We did a baby food word scramble-the first person to finish with all the correct answers won a prize, we put 20 baby items in a office paper box we wrapped the box and cut two arms holes on each side and taped a food timer on top set at 20 seconds. Each person had 20 seconds to feel around in the box and on the paper we provided had to write down what they thought was in the box. We picked the top three people with the most correct items. No one got all 20. Everyone really enjoyed that one. Our last game was baby bingo that we played until all the prizes were gone.

Sand Ceremony Kit - On Sale
beachbride08 replied to beachbride08's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I got my sand ceremony kit in so I wanted to post some pics so you can see what it looks like and how it is shipped. It came in the blue box inside another box surrounded in bubble wrap. The glass topper is not a tight fit, so once filled with sand I think you will have to literally carry it on the plane home to avoid spillage. It is also a lot bigger than it looked online, but overall I am very happy with it. I got two bags of sand-white and light brown. The seashells I got on sale at Pottery Barn and will go in the shorter vase. The shells will be poured in the bottom of the heart before the sand, or we will have family pour shells in before the ceremony. -

We are staying for about 7-8 nights and it wll cost about 3000 for just the rooms at the Grand. I'm putting on my STD that prices are subject to change based on # attending and when packages are be booked. So if they go up or down, people will be forewarned if they go up beforehand. I would also let your guests know that if they choose to stay at the Lindo or Maya to save money on the trip they will need to pay for a day pass to go to the Grand, unless you are covering that for them. I'm getting married at the Lindo and some people asked about staying at the Del Mar which is cheaper so I had to let them know about the passes, and they decided to stay at the Lindo since it would have cost them the same amount.

OOT bags,... too much?
beachbride08 replied to pyxystyx's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I don't think the bags have to be expensive or elaborate if you want to do them. I think we'll be spending around $200 for all the bags and stuffers. We wanted to do an excursion with our guests, but it was too hard to pick an event that everyone would enjoy and with the amount of people, and having to pay for transportation it would have been too expensive for us. Also, our guests are all coming in and leaving on different days so that would have been another issue trying to pick a day that everyone was there. I also didn't want to monopolize their vacation either. The OOT bags are a great alternative. -

Well, as I was doing the invites, I was talking to my cousin's SIL (my cousin Richard's wife) since they were in the process from moving from the same town that I was trying to send the invites to, to my home town. They were going to get the right address for me or else take the invites up there for me, but it didn't end up happening. I did see Reagan at a family wedding in Jan and told him about it, and he said that he would give me a call and give me his address. Well, last week I finally called up there and talked to Rodney. I told him about the wedding plans and got their address. Then a couple days later Reagan called back. Well, they are both planning on coming down to the Dominican for the wedding. I am excited since they are my 2 closest cousins in age on my Mom's side. The next closest cousin is actually our oldest cousin's daughter who was supposed to be a BM but had to back out. As for RSVP's, I got a few on facebook which wasn't actually an option, and only one person has answered through the website, and it was my coworkers husband saying "yes". I had a couple verbals from before we even sent out the invites, since I knew that they were coming, but no one else has. As I get word, or give up on them, I cross them off the list myself. That is great that your cousins will be able to make it. I have two cousins on my mom's side that I really wanted to come. One just sent her RSVP that she can't make it, and I'm still waiting to hear from the other one. Most of my mom's family live in different states so I rarely see them. I was hoping having a destination wedding would get more of them to take a trip since even if we had a wedding at home it would require them to travel. I'm still waiting to hear from some of them, but most declined. I was disappointed, but also understand. Danielle-No worries on the bags.

Everything looks great! -
I love all the BDW girls, but I may have to jump on the Rachel bandwagon too! Her posts always crack me up, and she just seems like a really fun person (especially from the party pics she's shared!). I also love Alyssa's posts. She always posts great polls and interesting topics.

Guest Dilemma
beachbride08 replied to BlissfulMsMiranda's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I agree with the previous poster. This is why we did not do a group book. For the guests we knew were definitely coming, none of them were picking the same dates to travel. It was just too much hassle for not a lot of money saved. Now with all the changes in the airlines, I'm not sure we would have saved our guests any money if we had done the group booking anyway. We are still waiting on about 45 RSVPs including some of the people that said they were definitely coming and our wedding is less than 4 months away. Since it is so far in advance if guests that say they want to come now, but change their mind later are they forced to pay the full cost of the trip, or are you going to get stuck with it? Is there any way for you to get out of the group booking, or is it too late since you already paid the deposit? -

I think I might use Shutterfly. I order pics from them all the time, and so do my family members. I haven't set it up yet though. I just couldn't take the crap all over the floor anymore. Our place is too small as it is. I absolutely cannot wait to go to Mexico. I'm excited for the wedding, but I will really need a nice, long vacation.
