  1. So I fell in love with this mantilla veil at Davids bridal when I bought my dress, but didn't buy it then because it is $200!! (sorry pic is huge- I can't make it smaller in photobucket, what am I doing wrong??) I thought I would be able to find something similar elsewhere-(ebay), but no luck yet. The one's I've found just aren't as nice, and although I've seen two posted that are this exact style from DB, they have been in white, I need Ivory. I was to the point of convincing myself that I could live with out it and found a different veil I could totaly love, a floor length simple veil that would be all flowy and lovely, oh and I can get one on ebay for like under $30. Here is one that is ubber cheap: CUT EDGE IVORY CATHEDRAL BRIDAL WEDDING VEIL - eBay (item 170041827736 end time Mar-15-08 12:21:28 PDT) But...here is my dilema...I was filling in my FMIL on the latest planning details when I told her this, she said she was going to surprise me by getting my Mantilla when we go back for alterations next month and that would be my bridal shower gift from her. So now she said it is up to me if I want the mantilla or would rather forgo the $200 veil for something else. What should I do? It is so sweet of her to do this, but it's still a whole lot of money for a veil, I mean my dress was only $400. It would be extra meaningful since she went dress shopping with me, and was the one who suggested I try on a mantilla style veil. I'm so bummed about sorta-kinda ruining the surprise, plus I hate having to make decisions. I haven't even totally decided on colors, yet- but that's for another post. Please, BDW peeps, I need your advice.
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I love the dollar sections and am in desperate need of gift ideas.
  3. I think they look great. Regarding the quality, I would think they are hand made with the intricate weaving so they will not all be perfect. I got a dozen from Oriental Trading too and they look good to me, much bigger than I expected. Since I got these just for the men, I must resist the urge to girlify them with ribbons and flowers, but I do love the way they look with punches of color.
  4. Okay, I'm back and feel like adding two big DONE items to my list: 1- Wedding Dress 2- Wedding Bands for both of us I feel so much better checking these two things off my list; 2 down a billion more to go... bring on the stress...
  5. I just cleaned out my junk e-mail and found I had two emails from Sandra Casillas (wedding coordinator at Dreams Tulum). It's a mass email to what looks like all May Weddings, she appearantly wants the wedding planning form filled out and sent to back by tomorrow. Did anyone else get this mass email?? I've already filled it out and sent to Landy, so not sure why they need it again. Hmm...also I'm a little ticked about the whole mass email thing. Not sure why, but possibly because it makes me feel like I'm just one out of a bus-load of tourists getting married at the Dream wedding factory. Or maybe it's the fact that now everyone else getting married there in May has my email... Okay, sorry about the rant, I'm better now...it's just all coming up so fast and her email is a reminder of all I still have to decide and do.
  6. Hola Paula! Welcome back! Your pictures are amazing. I sighed like 50 times looking at your pics. Eres una novia muy linda! You are such a beautiful bride! I love, love all your photos, I can't stop looking at them! Felicidades otra vez!
  7. Ooh, these are the exact ones I've been considering getting for my girls. It's between these and two other pendants I found on Ebay. What are you going to hang them on? I was thinking of sheer ribbon. Do you have any pics of them on?
  8. OMG, Leia, those are amazing looking. I also love the idea of having a wish tree. What will you do the little comments afterwards?

Now, about the centerpieces, I can't decide between the first one or the last one. They're both great, but definetly with out fish, I like the glass ones . Have you thought about a single real flower? A gardenia or an orchid would be really pretty.
  10. Great thread! Glad it got revived. There are quite a few beauty secrets I've gotta try, especially the milk bath and Tammy's(host) eyelash thickner. Here are my tips: -Cetaphil Cleanser( Generic store brand) - it is so gentle, but sometimes I mix in some sugar granuals and use it like a scrub then let it dry on for a bit like a mask. -Lately I've been using olive oil on my face before using the above cleanser and scrub and also on other dry areas before my shower like knees, elbows and toes. Just be careful while in the shower or bath, don't do so much that it gets slippery. -Here's one along the lines of using Preparation H for undereye puffiness: I use Monistat Anti-Chaffing Powder Gel on my face after my lotion to keep the oilyness at bay, it works like a makeup primer, even though I don't wear make-up, it works. A little goes a long way. Ever since I started doing this my face isn't as oily and I don't break out as bad as I used to, even using the olive oil, very little shine.
  11. Thanks for the reviews! Very helpful. I was also worried about people watching, but I don't think I'll be paying attention, I'll much to nervous! I have a couple of questions: How was the buffet restaurant? What shape are the tables there? I want to start thinking about table decor since that is where I am having our "free" dinner. How is the wedding arch? Does it need extra decor? Or is it nice looking without anything? Thanks again!
  12. Great post! I will definetly need it, now that it's 4 months and counting... its crunch time for me so I need all the help I can to get my invites ready.
  13. I'm so sad, I can't see your book, it sounds great. I will try again later when my computer decides to be cooperative
  14. Great idea to have the resort print off a list for you. I was thinking of doing this by including a notecard with names and relationship and then leaving room to fill in room numbers. Thanks for sharing!
  15. Felizidades! Enjoy your wedding day and your luna de miel.
  16. Ooh Carly, I love your votives. Where did you get them? Quote: Originally Posted by carlymcmullen Well, still don't know how many people we will have, but here are some of my inspiration photos. I bought a bunch of these votives...
  17. They look great! I love the spanish version. I can't wait to start mine, I will have at least one spanish one for my parents. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Hi all!

Hi Ana. to the forum and Congratulations on you upcoming wedding. You will find that this is a great site for anything travel + wedding related, and lots more too. Happy Planning!
  19. Ooh, that's lovely. Would look great out among the homes decor, even in a non-beachy theme room.
  20. Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a great time and the wedding went as planned. Having issues with Photobucket, but the thumbnail pics look great, I will come back and check for the larger pics later. I really want to see the aisle runner everyone is talking about. Can't wait for more pic and reviews.
  21. I think if it's in your budget and you feel good about how it may fit on you, then go for it. You could always use one for a trash the dress or at home reception, or re-sell on ebay. The link didn't work for me but I think I found it just searching for Candace, it's very pretty and I think would be flattering.
  22. Great job! They look amazing and very difficult! Wish I had the crafty momentum to embark on something like this.
  23. Mine will be about a month after our wedding. Only FI's extended family will attend as my family will not be able to make it out to OH from CA, but thats fine since they are going down to Tulum wiht us. It was FI's parent's idea to do AHR for family here, which is fine and they have offered to help out with it. We are renting a park lodge and want to have it catered by Boston Market. We are also having a small chocolate fountain and some sort of cake, with non-alcoholic drinks(park rule=very cheap). I may wear my dress again; we'll show pictures and have ambiance music, and take some pictures, and maybe a guestbook, but no other formal wedding things. Like everyone else, I agree that it really is up to you, whatever you feel like doing is fine, no rules or standards to meet. Have fun and relax, there is enough stress in planning a destination wedding. Quote: Originally Posted by jmhein Has anyone done their invitations for their AHR yet? With the open sky above, sand at their feet, and the ocean as their backdrop, Groom and Bride will exchange vows in sunny Tulum, Mexico. Please join us as the celebration continues on Sunday the twenty second of June two thousand and eight for a casual luncheon reception hosted by Grooms Dad and Grooms Mom. Location: Spring Hollow Lodge Address City, State, Date: Sunday, June 22, 2008 Time: 12-3pm Kindly reply by May 31, 2008
  24. That is so cute and so sweet! If you do a google search you'll find a few sites that sell these types of bouquets. I think its a great way to be able to have a keepsake bouquet on a destination wedding, since flowers won't last the trip. This is a pictures I've had saved for a while of one I found online:
