Runner is great but can get expensive if you have a lot to do. You can also try a film type double stick tape as well.

What you will do is select the image you are trying to lighten and you can adjust the opacity of it. So if it is at 100% then reduce to 50% or whatever level to lighten it up. Hope that helps
