  1. These look incredible! The vellum is so classy. I also love the background paper. Did you get that from Michael's also?
  2. Thanks for that info. I'm considering booking him with another bride on this forum. This really helps!
  3. This is definitely the place to be for planning a DW. There's great info on practically anything you need to know. I agree with the other ladies about a good TA - they are invaluable. It will definitely decrease your stress level. Please join us on the June 2011 Brides thread! Happy Planning!
  4. These are super! I especially love the flower girl shirt - it is TOTALLY my daughter!!! Thanks for the site info! WHO DAT!!! Louisiana Girl in the other LA AKA "SouthernSweetie"
  5. I'm not sure what "cold" fireworks are...I do know that MP offers different fireworks packages are. Please enlighten me!
  6. Thanks Leigh. It was a pleasant surprise to see photos in your post. That really helps!

Don't get me wrong, they were still great entertainment...just not what we were looking for. Ooooooo! That's great information, because I had the same visual in mind. 'So glad you cleared that up. I will shift those funds someplace else in my budget.
  8. I'm definitely doing Real Touch. The florist that I'm using actually packs the flowers for shipping and send pics of how they packed it, so you can re-pack them once you inspect your shipment. The MP flower prices are ridiculous! BTW: I'm planning to "recycle" my BM bouquets into reception decor by placing them in vases on tables. I'm planning to get my money's worth!

I went through destinationweddings.com I have been really pleased with them thus far. They are also rated an A plus with the BBA....which made me feel a little better about it. I was going to pick the saphaire package too...but decided to do everything ala carte...as I read the reviews and did more research I found out that I could still have everything I wanted and not pay that much... We will be there at the same time! Yaayyyyy!!!
  10. I found the reviews by previous brides the most helpful. Most have pictures and info that gives you the truth - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
  11. I've got all those list PLUS: - a separate playlist of music for each event (cocktail hour, reception,...) - list for guests' accommodations (arrivals, departures,...) on a spreadsheet I've been keeping everything on an 8gb jump drive (that's backed-up on my computer, of course) AND printing off website pages of vendors/items that I keep in a notebook. Soon I will have to make a list of what I'm eliminating because I don't have a limitless budget!
  12. I've only read the first page and I'm already loving this thread. I've been trying to lose 60lbs for my June nuptials. I got off to a running start and lost 12lbs between Feb and Mar of this year BUT life happened. My workouts went from 5 to 4 to 3 days a week; now I haven't been to the gym since May 5th. Ladies, I fell off of the wagon and it backed over me! This thread is motivating me to get back on, especially since I want to be to at least half my goal by late fall to start dress shopping. I will do this thread like I did many others that I was late joining - print it off and read it on the treadmill to catch up. Wish me luck!!! (You'll hear more from me once I'm caught up. I hate to be redundant.)
  13. OMG! I have been looking for torquoise raffia fans. It appears that you have sold all of yours, but it would be great to know where they can be purchased. I will check out the site that you listed in an earlier post on this thread. Thanks!
  14. Counting calories is definitely the way to go (coupled with exercise, of course)! I had 60lbs to lose and when my FI and I began to count calories, we had the most success. I've tried low carb, Nutrisystem, low fat, etc.; but the calorie counting took my weight loss to a whole new level. It made me look forward to going to the gym. I learned how to balance my intake so I could have dessert every now and then! I used the calorie counter on Health Information, Resources, Tools & News Online - EverydayHealth.com. It also lets you log your exercise, weight, and water intake to show you exactly how you are progressing toward your goals. It's not easy, but YOU CAN DO IT!!!
  15. We are doing the iPod thing as well! I'm also backing all of my music up on an 8gb jump drive/flash drive so that it can be played on a laptop - just in case! Our resort has equipment that you can rent; but it's pretty expensive. (It's still cheaper than a DJ!) We have separate playlists for each event. I am soliciting requests from our guests via our quarterly newsletters and asking them to post the song(s) on a designated page on our website. You should check with your weddding coordinator to seen how much music you will need for each part of your ceremony. I also got tips from previous brides at my resort about how long the songs should be. I've seen where some brides have brought the Bose music system iPod deck and were very satisfied about the sound quality and volume. I think that this depends on the size of your venue and the number of guests though.
  16. I heard that this might happen...thanks for the heads up!
  17. Hi All! On today's Yahoo homepage, there is an article titled "Top 10 Luxury Beach Hotels for Less." La Amada in Playa Mujeres is one of them. Even though I'm already booked at Moon Palace Cancun, I was curious so I checked it out. Here's what I found: *They offer Junior Suites starting at $149 per night and the rooms go up to an Oceanview Terrace Suite with a plunge pool for $255 per night. (There are three other room types in-between.) *They have wedding packages *They advertise that they are "just minutes north of Cancun" *The website photos look very appealing *Right now, they are advertising kids 3-17 are free with paid adult For the deterrents (at least for me): *They are not all-inclusive *The website does not specify if they offer activities at the hotel *They only have four on-site restaurants *They share a Wedding Coordinator with Excellence Playa Mujeres, according to some brides on BDW. *The prices on the website were not available past August 2010 (but I'm sure a good travel agent could resolve that issue.) If you're looking for accommodations that are beautiful, but won't break the bank, you may want to check this place out. I was even considering switching myself - it would save my guest about $250 per night; but after weighing the options, an all-inclusive works best for us. Happy Planning Everyone!

Southernweetie, I responded to you on one of the threads (I just can't remember which one, so I might go find it and PM you). Also, It was hard to gage the sunset, because it was always cloudy except one day we were at dinner, and I got some great pics (we were at the Thai lounge). I took pics between 7:20 and 7:40 , and an internet site said about 7:30 for sunset. I put my reception at 7, if that helps. OH MY GOSH!!!! I Have a date twin finally MP1122!!!!! Welcome back, Chris! I know first hand how insane things can be. We just started phase 1 of layoffs for the hospital - in total it's supposed to be over 200 people. Can you say chaos and mayhem? I was so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I replied to your post/thread. Thank you for remembering to oblige me about the times for sunset. You rock!

I'm not very far in the planning process at this point. We just had our date confirmed last week. I started working on our website. I'm planning on doing electronic save the dates and constantly updating and adding to our website to keep our guests stoked. We're going to have a pretty small group. It's looking like 15-25 people at this point. I'm so happy that all of our best friends and family are totally on board with our plans. I purchased some plain jane invites on clearance from Micheal's a few months ago, but now that we've got our place picked... I'm just not sure if they'll do. I ran across a thread with DIY message in a bottle invites... OMG!!! I loved them. We've got such a small group that I think they would be totally DIYable. Nice to meet you all! Welcome Date Twin!
