  1. All of your guests are booked at the Palace? Score! Did you have a strategy for this? I don't want to have to deal with the disappointment of people who come all the way to Cancun but can't come to the ceremony because of limited passes.
  2. 2011 Bride here - Moon Palace, Cancun! I was planning to send out save the dates as soon as we were able to book the wedding. Even though they told us months ago that the contracts wouldn't be ready until Jan 2010, they emailed it to us last week. We've secured with a deposit, so now that I have a confirmed date, we will send out STDs in Jan 2010. We will also include the wedding website link (I've been building the site for months now and there's TONS of info on it), and our TA's info. I'm loving the passport STDs but as a newbie, I can't download any templates yet. =( Any suggestions, ladies?
  3. Now THAT's talent! You did a fabulous job. I sent a message to your inbox with my email addresses, I would love the templates.
  4. Great news Ladies! For all of you who have been waiting for the 2011 wedding contracts at Moon Palace to become available, they are now! Even though I was told that the contract for my June 11, 2011 wedding wouldn't be available until January of 2010, it was emailed to my TA last week. I submitted completed documents with my deposit this week. I got the date and time that I requested!!! This was a great relief because I didn't want to be racing against Engaged-This-Christmas brides. YAAAAYYYYY!!!! I hope that this helps all of you "perfect planners" (like me) to lock in your date and time early. Get while the gettin' is good, Girls!
  5. Andrea, Your review rocks! Even though we are more than a year and a half away from our MP wedding, I'm feverishly taking notes and gathering ideas from great reviews like yours. I could not open anything that was through photobucket and it all looked like very valuable information. Is there any other way to access the photos, data, etc.? Thanks for everything! Jean
  6. Congrats! I too am a MP bride for June 2011, so I'll be anxiously awaiting your review and photos. There is a thread on this site that has photos of all of the reception venues, unfortunately, when I saw it that was one of the few times that I was sitting at my computer viewing the site without my planning notes. There is so many good tips on here that I usually jot them down as not to forget any. Additionally, on the Moon Palace brides forum, I noticed that there are a couple of brides who are going soon just to check things out. I've requested photos and opinions from them on the reception/rehearsal dinner venues. Keep in touch with me and I'll be happy to share them when they come. Happy Planning!
  7. Congrats and welcome. My FI and I started out with lists: need to haves and nice to haves; then we prioritized both. I have a great Travel Agent (TA) at Wedding Destinations and Planning | Destination Weddings .com named Christina Boren. Once I communicated to her what was important to us, she gave her suggestions and emailed me info including links and "guestimates" on prices based on her current research. This helped us enormously and we were able to pick a location and resort because of her input. I hope that this helps and happy planning!
  8. Chelle, Congrats to you! This is the third time around for me and for Charlie as well. You know what they say, "The third time's a charm!" That's actually the main reason why we chose a DW. We wanted something special and unique. Did you use the resort photographer? What is your opinion or recommendation for photography. This is the one thing that I don't want to skimp on. Great photography and videography is non-negotiable for this fiesta!
  9. I had the same dilemma too. It helped us to write down the things about the entire wedding experience that were important to us and prioritize that list. (Affordability for our guests was number one.) It also helped to use a travel agency that specializes in Destination Weddings. We are using Wedding Destinations and Planning | Destination Weddings .com, our agent's name is Christina Boren. She was instrumental in helping us to narrow down a location. We chose Cancun because it is centrally located in Mexico, with respect to the US. We will have guests flying in from the west coast to the east coast and everywhere in between. The Cancun resorts are the most affordable; and I looked up flight prices from about eight of the most common cities that our guests are coming from, using various potential destination wedding spots in Mexico. Consider consulting a travel agent, they've already done the homework, you just have to present them with the questions. I hope that this helps!
  10. I've been taking notes from BDW posts for months now, we have to stay in touch and share info.
  11. Congrats! I have the same sentiments about the suburban wedding. The family and friends are very excited about the whole vacationing-wedding concept too!
  12. Thanks! I just LOVE your monogram, do you mind sharing how I can get one designed?
  13. Hi Girls! I am Jean H., my FI, Charlie and I are getting married at Moon Palace Cancun on June 11, 2011. At least that's the projected date. Contracts won't be ready until January 2010, so we can't put down a deposit to hold the date yet. I'm looking forward to connecting with other Cancun brides to get tips and advice on EVERYTHING that applies to our destination wedding. Happy Planning!
