  1. You rock! Its so nice not to have to re-invent the wheel. Moon Palace has a no vendor policy, so my photographer will have to be "guests." My challenge will be finding another bride to share a photog with. Wish me luck!
  2. Congrats! Like the rest of the crew, I'll be waiting for pics an details! Happy Wedding Day!!!
  3. Great post, I had no idea that all of this stuff was out there. Thanks, Girls!
  4. Beautiful, I'm totally convinced that this is the way to go!
  5. Stunning invites! I'm interested in your designer friend's website, let me know when the services are available please! Congrats!
  6. I'm working on mine now; I just ordered the magnets from Vistaprint today. Yours is very impressive! I too am a MP bride, so PLEASE post a review after you get back and get settled. Great job!
  7. I'm not getting married at MP until June 2011, but your review is still an important point of reference. Thank you for so much detail, thank you for the attachments, and thank you for the links. Your time is very much appreciated!
  8. Your review is totally awesome! Thank you for so much detail. My date is set for June 2011 at MP. As I read, I was hanging on every word. I was having second thoughts about MP because there are cheaper AI's in Cancun. Your review confirmed that we'd chosen the right place. If you don't mind me asking, what was your wedding budget? Did MP allow a vendor to come in to set up the lanterns for the reception? (I know that they have a strict no vendor policy.) I can't wait to show my FI your pics! Thanks again!!!
  9. I think that it totally depends on the look that you want. #1 is sexy and sophisticated. #2 is romantic. I think that #1 is more flattering on your figure, but they are both beautiful.
  10. Thanks everyone for the info. I've been working with Christina, and so far she has been very prompt and thorough BUT my wedding is next summer (2011) and reading some of these posts has made me a little nervous. For those of you who have had a positive experience, could you PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE disclose the name of your TA so I can request her just in case?
  11. Looks great! I'm wondering what to do with mine because of the humidity in Cancun. I may go this route...
  12. Wedding insurance differs from travel insurance in that it also covers things like deposits of vendors who no-show; lost or damaged wedding attire and rings; stolen gifts; property damage by you or your guests; injury of a guest; severe weather; postponements or cancellations (say if a close family member became critically ill); and these sort of unanticipated disasters that are more specifically wedding-related instead of travel-related. My TA recommends wedding insurance and she specializes in DW. She knows we're getting married in Mexico, so I'm assuming that there are companies out there that offer coverage for weddings out of the country. I just started browsing the net out of curiosity and so far I've seen one that will give an online quote based on needs and one that offers a "Risk Assessment." I'll actually do more research if I decide that I need wedding insurance. Please let me know if someone out there has already done the research. I'd hate to reinvent the wheel!
  13. My FI works for Continental Airlines as a Customer Service/Gate Agent. Travelers are allowed one carry-on bag (check with your airline for dimension and/or weight restrictions); it must be able to fit the overhead compartment. You are also allowed one personal item. This can be a purse, backpack, laptop computer w/bag, diaper bag.... I've actually gotten very creative with this allowance. I usually carry bags inside of bags (like my purse inside of a back pack) so I can get additional items in the carry-on. I have also taken a large shoulder bag for this same purpose. Sometimes I put my laptop in my carry-on suitcase with other things, because it has wheels and the laptop, although thin, can get heavy in large airports when lots of walking is necessary. (This tip will also help if you are trying to carry your dress throught these kinds of airports.) Checked bags don't always show up when you do, sometimes they are damaged, and sometimes they don't show up at all. You should also NEVER check your dress, which means that this is actually your personal item. You can also put things in the bottom of your dress bag, put watch the weight because you may have to carry it for long stretches. Sometimes the flight attendants are willing to hang your dress in the First Class closet. Just keep in mind that some smaller planes don't have First Class or closets, so it may end up in your lap for the duration of that flight. There are also some "free" allowances like infant/toddler carseats, some sporting equipment, etc. They do not count against your baggage allowances. Most airlines have a very specific list of these items on their individual websites. My fiance's personal advice to us brides: be very careful about your baggage weight restrictions. He sees people who have to pay enormous fees for exceeding the weight limitations or have to leave things behind EVERYDAY. He also says that kindness and smiles go a VERY long way. Quietly mention that you are headed to your wedding/honeymoon and ask if there are any special accommodations that might be available, like a bump up to First or Business Class. (Most of the time only the gate agent, not the ticket counter agent, has this power.) If they oblige you, don't make a fuss over it because you are getting a free favor that another passenger may have offered to pay for and it just gets messy from there. Happy Creative Packing and I hope that this helps!
  14. All of them are very nice. When selecting necklaces, always consider the necklines of the dresses and any details or embellishments on the top of the dresses. If the necklines and/or design detail at the top of the dresses is simple, go for a more decorative necklace. The opposite applies for necklines/dress details that are fancier. You don't want to take away from the design of the dress; the dress is a larger display than the jewelry and is what will be most visable to the eye and the cameras. Balance is the key. I think that the necklace designs are so similar that if your bridesmaids happen to wear different necklines, you can vary the necklaces accordingly. Congrats and I hope that this helps!
  15. Now, I've got to decide between "beach 'ya.....all tide up...." and "bells." Both are great and the bell one was definitely LOL!
  16. What a cool thread. I'm using a legal pad to write down the suggestions. Thanks Ladies!
  17. I read in a DW magazine recently that wedding insurance is highly recommended, espcially in cases where the wedding is out of the country. They mentioned that it was even useful for the recent Swine Flu epidemic in Mexico. I'm seriously considering purchasing some and I'd like to know if: 1). You guys think that it's a good use of money; and 2). If you have had any bad or good experiences with a particular company. Thanks in advance for your reply!
  18. I just thought of another item to add for brides who are marrying outside of the US with American guests: - metric conversion chart (laminated, card-sized) Thanks again! GEAUX SAINTS!!!
  19. This helps enormously, thanks for being so comprehensive. I've already printed it!
  20. Love the cards and LOVE the price! WHO DAT?!?!?!?! GEAUX SAINTS!!!! (Louisiana Girl in Southern California)
  21. Your invites are stunning! If you still have the template for your design and want to make some money off of your hard work, I'd be willing to pay you to customize mine. I'd gladly have them printed and assemble them! Congrats on your wedding!!!
