  1. Ladies, who ever tries the BKT (or already knows about it), please, please please post a review!!! I've never heard of it and would love more info.
  2. I'm allowing my BMs to choose their own dresses but here's the condition: all of the dresses have to be from the same designer, be the same color (tiffany blue/pool), and of the same fabric. As long as your WP's dresses compliment each other, it will look great. I've even seen WPs with different dresses in different colors - but the colors blended well together - and it looked good too.
  3. Great question - I really like the first website that was posted. Thanks!
  4. Congrats and Welcome! Please join us on the June 2011 Brides thread. Happy Planning!

I'm using a Travel Agent; she sent me group rates in April, but we didn't put didn't put down the $2000 deposit for a room block. We're still considering it, but are still torn as to whether or not this is a good idea. I do have the wedding packages along with some other attachments that I've got from my Miami WC. We've got to get together to exchange ideas and info on here and then at the resort for drinks!
  6. We're getting married at Moon Palace in Cancun. Although they advertise a "no vendor" policy, many brides bring in professional photographers as "guest." They've paid for a night's stay for the photog. This seemingly works out well because some photogs get photos of events like the rehearsal dinner, wedding preparation, etc.
  7. Your book rocks! I especially like the Spanish phrases that you hope your guests don't say - pretty funny!

I know that MP traditionally runs a Kids Stay Free promotion over the summer. BUT, I also heard that it's not hard to negotiate with the Wedding Coordinators if you are dogmatic. Good Luck!

You certainly get better attention from bar and pool staff and no need to book for the restaurants either which was brilliant. You are going to have such a great time, i want to get married again!! You're right, I didn't think of this! The staff will definitely be more attentive, but on the flip side, I would like my guests to be able to extend their trips or have more people to come with cheaper rates. Either way, it's a win-win!

  11. I found this website by typing "Mexico almanac" in the search box. It gave me info on Cancun (I'm not sure what your location is) and I changed the month to February since that's what's on your avatar. It gives you info on temperature averages, humidity levels, precipitation, and lots of other weather stuff. It will allow you to change the location and the month that you want. Cancun, Mexico Climate
  12. Palace Resorts traditionally offers a Kids Stay Free promotion during the summer months. This is one reason why we chose to get married at Moon Palace in June.
  13. Chris, I am praying for you and your family during this time. I was raised by my grandparents, so I know best how special grandparents are. Your family has already endured loss with great suffering. God knows how painful it is to standby helplessly and watch the suffering. Maybe this time, He knew that this was the best way (for everyone) to take your Papa to heaven. When I lost my 11 year-old son to cancer two years ago, I went through so many emotions - and I still do. Whenever I have bad days or hit rough spots, I think of great memories to bring me back around. I also consider what a great kid Sam was, and if I was God, I would have picked him for the Angel Corral too. Your Papa will never be far from you because his spirit always lives on in your memories and your heart. Don't let anyone tell you how to grieve or how long you should grieve. It's a very personal matter and we all heal in our own time. Lean on God - He will comfort you and promised that His strength is made perfect in your weakness.

I don't know about rates through a Palace Resort membership but I do have rate quotes from my TA. I've had them since March or April for my wedding NEXT June. Just curious: have you ladies noticed that in the recent MP reviews that are being posted, lots of brides are mentioning that the resort has been at 60% capacity or less? I hope that this lull in tourism will translate into further price drops for us!
  15. What a great idea! Can you please list the items and where you found them? Did you make the luggage tags?
  16. I happen to work with a physician who specializes in aesthetics, and according to him, it depends on what you are planning to do for your skin. He recommends that you start a skincare regimen six months prior to your big day. This way, you have time to make adjustments if you don't get the desired response. Facials should be done once a month. For "mature" brides (like myself) who are considering a filler for expression lines, crows feet, etc., the recommendation is about three to four months ahead of time. The fillers usually last about six months and will have some redness immediately after injection. The same goes for microdermabrasion treatments and photofacials. There is another thread on here in the beauty section that addresses tooth whitening including Zoom bleaching, whitestrips,... The general concensus so far is that Crest 3D White Strips are the way to go. I would also recommend getting a free skincare consultation by a cosmetic line rep like Mary Kay or Clinique. Some reps can do a thorough skin analysis and match the products that are best suited for you. I hope that this helps!

I don't know what to do, I have only wore a weave once and I had it done in Rome, Italy. I wouldn't know where to go get a good weave sewn in here in MD. Boy, do I miss my maintanance free short hair. I am afraid even if I perm my hair, the humidity will end up making my hair look like Don King. I have been wearing braids for the past few months. Any suggestions? I'm not sure how you're wearing your hair now, but you totally rock that short cut! What about a wrap style a la Nia Long (before she grew her hair out)? JanineA, I really love that first style...thanks for posting it! It may get "borrowed" Mexico!
  18. Congratulations and thank you for posting your review so quickly!
  19. Have you tried Zuniga rentals? I saw a pic of a lighted dance floor on the Grand side of MP.
  20. We are going to Moon Palace for all of the reasons that you mentioned: family-friendly, all-inclusive, great wedding packages, multiple wedding gazebos available, and terraces with a view of but not on the beach. Check out the Moon Palace reviews on here. Most have pictures!
  21. Katie, I'm a MP Bride too - great choice!!! You should join the thread for MP 2010 Brides. There's lots of great dialogue and a continuation of the many wonderful ideas you will find on BDW. Welcome and Happy Planning!
