  1. Savannah, I had a similar experience. I tried on tons of dresses at 6 or 7 boutiques but nothing really jumped out at me. I was able to narrow down what I liked and it turned out that there was a sample gown at the last boutique I visited that had everything I wanted. It was perfect & under budget-- what more could I ask for? I didn't get tears in my eyes or anything.
  2. Pretty dresses! I think my favorites on you are #51 and #14. I think an a-line (but not too poofy) style with a sweetheart neckline is lovely on you. Some of the dresses you tried look like they might be heavy satin-- I would steer towards lighter fabrics like chiffon and taffeta.
  3. Fantastic! I love it when people give their own special oomph to an outfit-- especially a wedding gown. You look stunning!
  4. I had to turn into a nagging bitch too-- just to get him to do some basic tasks. Of all things, the thing we fought about the most was the dance lessons! He never wanted to practice and blamed me for it. Which spiraled into an argument over how I am responsible for everything in this wedding, and that I shouldn't have to beg him to do every little thing. He is being helpful again and we haven't fought since. I think you just need to get it out there and let him know that BOTH of you are getting married, so BOTH of you need to contribute to the planning.
  5. Oh no! Definitely take him to the vet-- maybe look for a new one that will work with you on payments?
  6. I tried a couple of her dresses and loved them. They were a little too ballgown for me at the time (last May) but she's since had a couple of collections that have more variety in them. Very well constructed gowns with lots of lovely details. If this one had been around when I was looking at dresses, it would have been a serious contender!
  7. What an amazing story-- and kudos to you for being able to move on with gusto!
  8. Ugh I can sympathize. My mom already told one of my cousins that she could bring her boyfriend (whom I've never met or heard about) and then said afterward, hey is it OK? Uh, I can't really take back what you've already told her! And this girl will have her parents there and lots of cousins that she knows, so it's not like she won't know anyone there. I am just hoping that there aren't a lot of other incidences like this.
  9. I have a nude strapless bra & knockoff Spanx. I'm sure it will be hot but I need containment, hehe!
  10. What a gorgeous dress! I love all of the detailing, and the halter is a great idea.
  11. I would have your seamstress pin it so you get the look of the sweetheart, and then decide if you want it. I love sweetheart necklines (it's what I have) because they are very flattering for my body type. With your figure, it could go either way. Pretty dress!
  12. What a fantastic opportunity! I've already booked a photographer, but I think this is a great contest.
  13. FI's mom is doing our AHR-- it's in FI's hometown and it's for his side that can't make it. I think they are going to hire their favorite Italian restaurant to do the catering, probably buffet-style. They only just booked the hall-- I don't think they've done anything else for it yet.
  14. Y'all, I don't think it's a coincidence that this person is a vendor who sells artificial flowers to destination brides! Think of all of the wedding cakes you've eaten that have had fresh flowers on them-- have you ever gotten sick? To Bridal Blooms By Laura, scare tactics are a crappy way to drum up business.
  15. lil_miss_frogg, I totally remember your dentist's case! I used to be a reporter in Macon and one of my coworkers wrote a whole bunch of stories about him. I think he maybe used to live in the area or something. Jacqueline, I hope your mom gets the help she needs soon!
  16. Gorgeous photos ladies! Though I am wearing fresh flowers in my hair on the day, I always keep my eye out for pretty accessories. H&M and Forever 21 both have super cute (and cheap!) hair flowers out right now.
  17. Yeah they are super comfy! Plus my dress has floral and pearl details so it works together very well. My feet don't put up with heels very well so these were a great option.
  18. Here are mine-- they are by Tracey Asai Designs. Wedding & reception are on the beach. I just bought a reception dress (will post pics soon!) and will need to buy shoes for it too. Love everyone's picks!
  19. Oooh, I love dress shopping photos! I agree with everyone-- your favorite (or the ones closest to it) are so pretty and flattering on you! I think Nrvsbride (Glenda) wore the Mon Cheri one that you love. I'm sure if you did a board search, you could find her pics.
  20. Thank you ladies! The dress is a Renella De Fina and it is made of silk taffeta. IRL it doesn't have as much of a shine-- the flash brings out that aspect much more.
