I'm getting married in Playa too! This site is the absolute best for planning... just do a ton of reading here, and you'll be fine!

Tough one. You look great both ways, but I like the dark. It makes you look more exotic! I have very dark hair, and used to highlight it. I made the choice (for $$ reasons) a couple of years back to go back natural, and I love it! Not to mention the fact that I'm not in the salon every couple of months. I have toyed with the idea of doing something different for the wedding, but I think if I go that route, I will keep my color dark, and do some extensions.

SO many ideas, so little time!!! I love this, I think it's a wonderful one. However, I think I would be more comfortable with my guests giving them to us directly somehow... just to be sure!

Oh man, my blood has been boiling reading this thread! I wish you all the best, and hope the level of CRAZY in your life goes down dramatically very soon. I feel like I need a stiff drink just reading this! I would have done exactly what you did, and confronted my sister by the way!!

3 is my fav, but I love 2 as well. You can use them both for different things! I like the contrasting colors...

2 weeks for sure! I talked FI into doing 13 days (good negotiationg skills) because you're basically wasting 2 days traveling (there and back) and so much family and friend time. You definitely don't want to regret not staying longer, and I can almost guarantee you will not be ready after 7 days!!

Fun! 1. I have not gone shopping for clothes in WAY too long- what's wrong with me?? 2. I could eat pizza every day of my life and be perfectly happy (too bad I cannot!) 3. I miss mine and my FI's family terribly, and cannot wait until we move back home! 4. Have been doing very well on my diet, except for the wine. Living next to Carmel Valley, and being able to shoot up to Napa-- it's too hard! 5. If I like a song, I will listen to it on repeat until I am sick of it. By myself of course! FI would kill me!

Also, I think being very realistic on what things are going to cost will help. And remembering all of the 'extra' things that will come about (shoes, ring bearer pillow, hair/makeup, just as a few). I started out with a very broad budget, then I got real and really focused on details. My budget instantly went up several thousand dollars, but there won't be any surprises later! (hopefully!)

I agree a million % with everything that Christie said. I cannot believe the nerve some of these people have!! You have every right to be frustrated, this is YOUR (and FI) day!!! Good luck girl!

OH, but I wanted to add-- agreeing so much with Shellk--- things always seem to work out for the best. Don't stress over the things you cannot change-- just press forward!

I completely feel your pain!!!!! Same stuff has been happening to us- new (expensive) tires needed for FI car, my car registration is up, we're moving (to save $$) but we need to come up with deposit, first and last mth rent (I know, $$ in the bank- but STILL!) we're traveling home (Denver) for both holidays.... and don't even get me started on Christmas presents!! If it were up to me, I would give everyone a nice card and explain that we are saving for the wedding (that we are paying for ourselves). My family would be totally cool with it, but the gift thing is a really big deal at my FI's family.... so yeah. I wish us ALL the best of luck!!!!

You are so much bigger of a person than me--I honestly don't know what I would have said to them by now!! My heart goes out to you, and given your horrible circumstances, I applaud you for keeping the peace with these nasty people. I wish you the best of luck!!

Don't stress! I was in the same situation- at another Riu. The wedding coordinator was very helpful in giving me more time, she was completely understanding that the rates were not available yet. Good luck!!!
