  1. One more suggestion I forgot to add - oil blotting tissues for your face! They were a life saver during pictures. I just bought a package of clean & clear oil blotting tissues & put them in my purse along with powder & lipstick for touch-ups. The humidity makes your face shiney so these were great because they don't remove your make-up.
  2. Yes we paid for each one. They wanted over $4000 for just the CD with all the pictures, but because we bought the package they gave us a discount. It was cheaper to buy the package + all 350 pictures than it was to buy just the CD of pictures. We were definately glad that we had already purchased the package when they told us the price of just the CD! Buying the package is basically your guarantee that you will have a photographer for a certain amount of time + an album and CD of a few pictures. Here is a link to some of our pictures: http://beachesnegrilwedding.shutterfly.com password: jamaica

I was still trying to decide & the next thing I knew it was time to go & I was freaked out. When we got there everything was easy. They give you a book to look through, which is basically the same as Amber gives you, but has a few extras. You meet with the WC there & go over everything again. They give you champagne, cake samples, sample photo book, a list to fill out with things like music requested, who to include in your video/pictures and a whole bunch of other stuff. They go over everything so you can pick additional stuff or just to get the details that you want.
  4. I thought I would share some of the things we did or wish we would have done to make things easier or remember more. The most important thing I can say is to look around you, smile & enjoy every second. Take in everything before you start walking down the aisle. It will all be a blur after that! Don’t plan anything extra on the day of the wedding – it goes by fast! Make sure you have plenty of time to relax, get your hair done, slowly get ready, take pictures & really enjoy yourself. Start the day off with brunch with all the women in your group. take a nice robe with you to get ready in - you don't want photos in your sweats order champagne to be delivered to your room & whiskey (or the like) delivered to the guys room or have someone in charge of running to the bar right b4 getting ready give your engagement ring to the best man to hold onto during the ceremony so you can easily add it to the wedding band after the ceremony make a list of the ceremony order, song order, special readings, etc. to give to various people so things run according to your plan make 2 copies of your ceremony & reception music to give 1 to the videographer so they can add it on the video make sure there is an umbrella in all your guests rooms the morning of - the resort has plenty! it may be blue sky, but rain comes fast & leaves fast think about what kind of memories you want captured & let your wedding coordinator know - they are amazing at making dreams come true! Make a list of all the photos you want taken - look at digital photo albums online to get an idea of things you don’t want to miss. We never took a picture of our invitation or just my engagement ring & now I would like it for our album. Landscape pictures of the ceremony site without guests is a great background for your album take pictures with you of your desired hairstyle & makeup - it is easier than trying to explain have someone collect the daily activity guide on your wedding day - it will have your names printed in it with a congratulations - outside the chapel will be another paper with your names, & then the dinner menu will be printed specially for you (these are great for scrapbooking if you want to save mementos) buy blank cds & give one to each of your guests so they can copy all the pictures they took onto it & give it back to you during your stay have the resort staff take as many pictures of you & all your guests as possible & then put them all under 1 account. At the end of your stay the cd is only $325 & everyone can split the cost & then make copies. Now you have even more photos! We have some great family photos now instead of 1 person always missing cuz they are behind the camera. We have a cd of over 400 pictures. EAT! Make sure and have something real to eat in the morning & at the reception. Don’t be the bride who gets drunk immediately because you didn’t eat all day! Get everything organized before you leave. Have a clear idea of what you want. You don’t want to spend your entire vacation planning the wedding. You will miss too much & everyone else will return with great vacation memories & you won’t be part of them. You can still book everything once you get to the resort just make sure you know what you want. I booked most everything in advance or at least told them what I was planning & that I would finalize it at the resort. I hope this helps & please ask any questions! Future Mrs. 2010 - Enjoy the excitement! You are so close now!
  5. I love having the DVD! I am very glad that we got it. I was on the fence, but now I am so happy that we paid the extra for it. The only part I don't like is of me getting ready, but that is just because I hate being in front of the camera! It is a bit embarrassing when they made me talk about my dress and I was a bit nervous to begin with! We paid $2700 for the package. It guaranteed that we would a have a photographer & videographer before, during & after the ceremony. It included the video that had everything I mentioned in a post above & a photo album with 42 pictures. We paid the additional $1000 for a CD with all our pictures on it because we wanted more than 42. When you meet with your wedding coordinator you can ask to see each photographers pictures so you can pick a photographer that has a style that you like. You will see them walking around the resort all the time taking pictures of everyone as well so can talk with them, have them take some photo's & then go to the photobooth place & see them. It is a good way to see what the photographer likes & how they capture moments. If you want any special poses make sure and give the list to your wedding coordinator & they will pass it along to the photographer. Things like your dress, shoes, invitation, cake, rings, you & groom in special pose, writing in sand, etc., are things you might list.
  6. We purchased the DVD from the resort. We did the Sea Pearl Deluxe Video & the Tropical Passion photo package. We bought all of our pictures (over 300) for an additional price. We bargained with them on the price of the additional photos. I think that ended up being about $1,000. They tried to get us to buy them all at $4,000, but we said we would pay no more than $1,000 so they gave them to us with all the rights. The video is about 1 hour long, which is longer than they say it will be. They came to the room & filmed me getting ready, the ceremony, us signing the license, hugging everyone, a walk down the beach, and the whole reception. They used the music that we brought so it was more personal. Then there is another section that has a photo slideshow of the photo's we picked for the album. The slideshow was really nice at our at home reception. People loved seeing the ceremony as well as some of our pictures. The DVD is very nicely put together. It has a menu screen & everything is done to music. Vevan was our videographer & was fantastic. Watching it makes you feel all romantic again! I am still working on getting it viewable online. I am not the most savy audio visual person so my patience is wearing thin! If anyone else was able to post their video on shutterfly please let me know how! I have also been trying to get my digital photo album made & there are too many great features in photoshop! Sherri
  7. I have been Mrs. Burns for 3 whole months now! I have finally got everything changed over into my new last name. I finally had to go to our clerk & recorder & get another marriage license to change my driver's license name. What a racket! The State of Colorado is one on the few states that require a COUNTY marriage license to change your name. They just want the revenue. Of course my passport & SS Card were changed with my Jamaica marriage license which made things very confusing. You don't realize how many things you have to change until you start. I thought I was done & then went to the library....of course I had forgot to change my name there & then took the dog to the vet....! My advise is to make a list of EVERYTHING that has your name on it so you can just start checking things off as you go. I added some more pictures to my website for everyone to see. There are pics from the resort and family members. I know how important seeing things are when you are trying to plan such a big day. I cannot upload my video. I have tried and tried, but when I view it there is nothing there. The CD has several files on it & that may be the reason I can't view it. I will keep working on it. The only thing I can say about having a video is make sure someone takes a video even if you don't use the resort. You can never have that day back, memories fade, and with a video you will always be able to relive the moment. Pictures & video are a must! http://beachesnegrilwedding.shutterfly.com password: jamaica

Did you do the preston bailey sunset collection or did you choose your own flowers? I know that its Martha Stewart now but your colors were really beautiful and striking. Were there people surrounding you on the beach during your ceremony? My main problem now is that both Beaches Negril and Sandy bay are sold out for most of their rooms on the days around my wedding date and my guests have to book elsewhere now, but Beaches charges people to come in. It's not their fault that there are no rooms, I just am not sure what to do now. Finally, I am bringing in my photographer from Minnesota. He is fantastic and he only charged me for the cost of travel and board and $200 for supplies!!. If anyone wants to use him in January (he says he may be there for another week or so after the wedding), let me know. You can email me for his info. I did use the PB Sunset Collection. It was absolutely beautiful! The colors were amazing & so vivid. The bridesmaid dress matched perfectly. It was a lucky find on those. There was no one around us on the beach during our ceremony. There were 2 security guards on either side of us to keep people away & from walking between the arch & ocean. At one point there was even a boat playing music & someone waved them down to shut it off. I was worried about other people being around & in my pictures before the wedding but the staff was was on top of it. They made sure it was our special moment. Sherri
  9. Alison - DJ Info For the ceremony they have a a couple of music options you can choose from or you can bring your own CD & they will plaly it. Make sure you put the music in the order you want it played & as well as written instructions on when you want each song to start, end, play through, etc.. For the reception email your list of must play songs (1st dance, father/daughter, garter, etc.) to Amber in advance so the DJ can download the songs if needed. The DJ has a HUGE selection of music from old hip hop like Snoop Dog to brand new country songs. They are very prepared for a variety of tastes. As for the flowers make sure you get price quotes in writing & then take them with you! The flowers are very expensive & you have to do a lot of bartering. I refused to pay $50 for my bridesmaid flowers (which were just 1 stem of small orchids), but unfortunately I hadn't printed the price quote of $30 from my email & so ended up paying $40. Let me know if you have any questions I can answer! One piece of advice I can give you is to not stress over things. The resort staff really do know what they are doing & are very nice and easy to work with. My wedding was wonderful & everything went very smooth. Best wishes to you! Sherri
  10. I created another site for the wedding pictures since there were security issues with the last one. Sorry it took so long! Been busy with work & thank-you notes! http://beachesnegrilwedding.shutterfly.com/ password: jamaica
  11. I tried the ss card route, but the dl place said it didn't matter. They will only accept a county issued ml no matter what other things I have changed my name on. They said that without a county issued ml they will not change my name on my dl - period. I am now working with the district attorney's office to find a law (or at least a reason) that states you must have a county issued ml to change your name. So far they haven't found anything.
  12. FYI Everyone - I just went to change my name on my driver's license and couldn't!!! Apparently in Colorado you must have a COUNTY issued marriage license in order to change your name on your DL. Of course we only have our marriage license from Jamaica (which is legal), but they wouldn't accept it. Now we have to go to our local courthouse & get a marriage license which will have a different day on it than our wedding. So, make sure you check with your local driver's license place before you leave for your wedding! If it is the same as Colorado you can just get a marriage license before you leave and then put your correct wedding date on it, sign it, return it to the courthouse to be registered after you get back & you won't have the mess I have!
  13. I just went to change my name on my driver's license & couldn't!! In Colorado you must have a COUNTY issued marriage license to change your name. All we have is our Jamaican marriage license. So now we have to go to our local courthouse & get a marriage license, but the wedding date will be different. Luckily in Colorado you can marry yourself so we will just sign the paper & be on our way, but now I will have 2 different dates to keep track of. Check with your local driver's license office before you leave for your wedding!!! You can get a marriage license from your courthouse & then just put the wedding date on it so you don't have to keep track of 2 different dates. What a pain!!!
  14. Sorry everyone, but the site is no longer active. There was a security issue & the site had to be shut down. Some were able to view it for a few days but for now it has been deactivated. I will let you know when they get the security issues under control.
  15. Sorry everyone but the picture website is no longer active. There was a security issue & the website had to be shut down. I will let you know when it is back up.
