  1. I just found this thread and was trying to figure this out as well. We'll have a big gap, doing the legal this july and ceremony in November. We're leaning towards the NOV. being our anniversary, but I like the thought the july date, because its warmer here and there is so much more to do on your anniversary when its nice out!! sooooo, I've concluded that we should do both wonder how the FI will feel about that hehe
  2. My FI was also married and we're gonna do a legal before we leave and a symbolic in mexico. everyone says it looks exactly the same and the guests won't know the difference, so I'm not telling anyone Just making it easier on us with the document translation, etc..
  3. That is the cutest thing I have ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that!!!! I don't think i'd have enough room in the gazebo though, because it looks pretty small. But precious! Thanks for sharing
  4. that is too cute. i'm glad you are amused by it and not annoyed. i'm sure he will come around the day of and is just messing wtih ya! Your wedding is so close, you must be so excited!!!!
  5. Good Luck. I'm hoping she will be successfull too I was just reading the budget thread and feeling like eloping is a way more appealing idea as well! I'm sure it will work out
  6. That is awful and upsetting news! I also vote key west, I think it will have the same destination-y feel. Good Luck!

  8. BBTB- Great thread. The FI and I went back and forth on this forever because I am so bad at transferring money back and forth and I have EVERYTHING coming out via "direct deposit" from my personal checking. i was so worried about setting up a joint, and trying to switch everything to direct deposit from a different account number. Here's how we solved our issue. Conveniently, we just so happened to check at the same bank before we met. So we set up a joint account at that bank and we can each log in online and see our personal checking and the joint, but we cannot see the other persons personal. You can transfer money instantly with 1 click. So thus far I've been transfering extra money over after my bills are paid, and we use the joint for our mortgage and "joint expenses". We use our personal accounts for dinners out with friends, or the money we spend on our lunch-breaks, etc. Hope this helps
  9. MY BM dresses are orange, I love them!! I hadn't considered a second color until reading this and am looking forward to seeing what they look like together. Here are my BM dresses! The invitations I made that incorporate orange too:

I don't know how set you are on the idea of a dance, but just thought I'd let you know what I'm doing. In lieu of a father/daughter dance, since for ME there is just no one that would symbolize it the right way, I'm putting together a slide show of photos. Pics of me with my dad growing up, my father alone, doing things he enjoyed..I'm going to set it to Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father" as a tribute because lyrically, the song is perfect for a child wishing with all her heart she had just that one last time with him. (Ok, tearing up typing this) Anyway, I just thought it would be a nice way of including memories of my dad in the wedding and sort of HAVING a moment with him even though he can't physically be there. Good luck to you. I hope you come to a decision you are comfortable with. I'll copy the lyrics to the song, just in case anyone doesn't know them and might want to do anything similar, even if it's just wording on ceremony programs or what have you. Back when I was a child, before life removed all the innocence My father would lift me high and dance with my mother and me and then Spin me around 'til I fell asleep Then up the stairs he would carry me And I knew for sure I was loved If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him I'd play a song that would never, ever end How I'd love, love, love To dance with my father again When I and my mother would disagree To get my way, I would run from her to him He'd make me laugh just to comfort me Then finally make me do just what my mama said Later that night when I was asleep He left a dollar under my sheet Never dreamed that he would be gone from me If I could steal one final glance, one final step, one final dance with him I'd play a song that would never, ever end 'Cause I'd love, love, love To dance with my father again Sometimes I'd listen outside her door And I'd hear how my mother cried for him I pray for her even more than me I pray for her even more than me I know I'm praying for much too much But could you send back the only man she loved I know you don't do it usually But dear Lord she's dying To dance with my father again Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream Wow, my eyes are filled with tears reading this. That is such a wonderful idea and will be so special on your wedding day. It will leave everyone with memories of your father which I believe is very important for those who did not get the chance to meet him. Awesome Idea!!! I'm sorry for your loss as well.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your father, but he will be with you in spirit. Good Luck & Best wishes
  12. Katie- I planned on doing a sand ceremony of some sort, but haven't given it too much thought! I didn't even think about traveling with it! Good question!! I want to hear how the other girls answer
  13. Hi Nov ladies, my 6 month date is rapidly approaching and I just had to post because I'm getting SOOOOOOOOOOOO Excited!! I literally cannot wait!!!! :)
  14. Hi Girls- I started day 1 off my lifestyle change yesterday and it went well. I ran 2 miles, did 3 shoulder lifts at 15 reps each, and some abs!!! Also stayed under 1200 cals. Weight loss here I come!!
  15. MarieSam is right! Totally normal! I look at things I LOVED and was obsessed with in the beginning, and now I'm like "eh, its OK". haha You really do get overwhelmed with all the choices and all the different visions you have. I'm sure that on your wedding day you will love how everything looks when you can see it all come together. best wishes
  16. It took me forever to decide on my STD's! I wanted something tropical, but not over the top. I ended up picking out a magnet that had a "film roll" type effect where you could add your own pictures. I added one of me & the FI, and the other 3 were tropical images I googled. A palm tree, sandals, and a tropical drink. It also came with an insert card (the white and black background you see) with a bunch of additional info on the back....the corners of the magnets slid into the white card- They came out really cute, I loved them. I used magnetstreet.com I took the pic below with my phone so its not best quality! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the message in a bottle, but they were too expensive since we invited a lot of people. I did do them to ask my bridesmaids to stand up in my wedding- and they were a big hit!
  17. I think it could be a cute idea and definitely wouldn't hurt. I also would hope that the WC's will keep spectators in check, but assume there will always be a few. Good Luck!
  18. Wow! Those are some of the coolest eng. pics I've ever seen! Congrats :)

  20. I am so jealous!!! Elizabeth is my favorite, but we can't afford her! Your pictures are breathtaking!!!!!!
  21. Here's the story: My FI just got offered free plane tickets to NYC where his best friend lives. We were asked to come out for 4th of July weekend, pretty much all expenses paid to visit the FI's best friend & his girlfriend at their lakehouse. FI is extremely excited because he never gets to see his best friend and there is so little cost to us. Only problem is, my best friends wedding is the following weekend (July 11th) and I'm the maid of honor!! Do I even bring this up to her or is it completely taboo to go out of town the weekend before your best friends wedding?? Being that I'm doing a destination, I have no idea what traditional weddings entail and what details are finalized that week and what should or might require my help. Our trip would only be for 3 days (fly out thurs night back home sunday). GIRLS PLEASE HELP!!!! I NEED ADVICE & OPINIONS!!
  22. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!!! I've never been able to find a strapless bra either and it's always so depressing. Plus, I love Kohls!!!! Awesome post I'm going there today!!!
