  1. Kimmy, What size are you looking for? I just googled the dress, its SO pretty! I went over my budget too, and am working double time for it!
  2. I'll answer! I am absolutely carrying mine on! I've heard horror stories about girls who checked their dress and it got lost, etc. So my advice is to carry it on! Hope this helps
  3. Do you have pics!? I would love to see!! I totally fell in love with Maggie! The name of this dress is "Michelle" I'm glad you like it!
  4. I found my dress a few weeks ago. It's a Maggie Sottero Don't mind my face, I was hungover and had no makeup on! Wasn't expecting to find anything and wanted halter and lace!
  5. I'm just now reading this and it crushes me! I have a kitty that I absolutely adore and I know I could never give him up! At times it is rough for my FI because the cat loves to sleep with me, and follows me everywhere etc, but I think most of the other girls are right when they say to give it some more time. I would ask your FI if you can give it a few more months to see if his feelings change before any drastic decisions are made. Good Luck- best of luck to you!
  6. You look SO gorgeous! I can't believe how amazing the pictures turned out with a rainbow in the background & everything! How fortunate. Congrats
  7. I've been on the forum for a while now, and decided it's finally time to give my fiance props for his awesome proposal! I was on a business trip to vegas for a week, and he totally caught me off guard when he picked up me up at the airport with roses. He told me that he missed me and the flowers were a welcome home present. He's normally very shy and quiet and never does anything crazy romantic so I took the flowers as a cute gesture and nothing else. When we got to my apartment, I knew something was up as soon as I opened the door, there were rose petals, our song on repeat, candles, the whole 9 yards....but what I saw next was totally unexpected. A giant posterboard, it had a heart border and stickers around the edges, but there was nothing in the middle. He looked at me a little shaky and said "I know you're tired from your trip to Vegas, but how about 1 last game" and he handed me an envelope. When I opened it, it was filled with pictures of us from the last 2 years. He told me that step one of the game was to go through the pictures, and that he'd written a different reason why he loved me on each picture. I was crying instantly! After I finally got through reading what was on the back of the pictures, he told me the next step was to velcro them to the poster board, in chronological order. It took me a while to get my bearings and organize the pictures (in rows of 5) from things we did 2 years ago, to our most recent pics. After I finally finished (with some help), he said "congrats! you win! now there's just one more thing....." and he flipped a switch and a blacklight under the poster board came on. He'd written in INVISIBLE BLACKLIGHT INK a letter on each picture so it spelled out WILL YOU MARRY ME? By the time I could comprehend, he was on one knee with the ring. A few minutes later a bunch of friends and family came in the door (They'd all been waiting down the street). Definitely one of the best nights of my life (even though i was on 3 hours of sleep from partying in vegas!). An added bonus was that he proposed with my great grandmothers (and namesake) ring, it it's original 1930 Italian setting that he had completely rehabbed. I am so lucky!!!!!! Just had to share with you my incredible proposal! Hope everyone is enjoying their DW planning! my great grandmothers ring.pdf
  8. I tried on that destination maggie with the flowers! It was adorable, but I was too busty for it. Love that dress!!!!!
  9. Chole- Thanks for the info, very helpful! I'm gonna see if my TA has any deals. That is wonderful for you, I am so happy! Shellk- Love the dresses...do you have any pictures of you in them?? I agree with TylersGirl that the one on the right looks more DW-ish....but when i found my dress it was more formal that I was originally looking for. But it looked so good on me that I couldn't pass it up. Which one makes your figure look the best?
  10. Great! Thanks so much!! I'm so excited for you, that is a HUGE deal!
  11. Chloe- Wow, I am so jealous! That is awesome news for you!!!! Our travel agent also said there weren't any group deals available! Is it a deal offered through your TA's agency, or the RIU itself?...if it's the RIU I'll want to call there because I know we'll have at least 40 people!! Lucky for me, My parents are paying for everything and like TylersGirl - My mom booked us the 2 story suite for our wedding night, and the night after! So Desiree, take lots of pics for me and have a GREAT time!
  12. Thanks Girls, I pretty much took all of your advice! I did put a pop up on my website (of course when i went to check it, it was blocked by a pop-up blocker)! I also sent a mass email to all my people, and forwarded it to jason and my mom so they could send it out to their people and I told everyone to spread the word by mouth! Thanks for the advice & I'm glad others have encountered it or now know to address it! I totally agree with Katie, fine if you don't want to allow us to make the choices right now, but at least let us see what the options are! Tylersgirl- at least you only have like 1 month to go! Maybe any other brides out there can post the options they were given recently, if their wedding is approaching!!
  13. Hi Girls, I had a slight freak out moment yesterday! My TA called to tell us that a lot of our guests have been price shopping on their own (which I fully support) but when they email her to see if she can match, they have quoted the price for the RIU Palace Mexico, which we all know looks exactly the same, and is only a few minutes away! Now I'm desperately trying to spread the word to everyone that the wedding is at the RIU RM and not RIU Mexico! Of course I'm worried that some people won't check with the TA and will book at RIU Mexico, and you know we need 90% of our guests at the resort to have the wedding. I originally put it everywhere I could think of, It's on the "Save the Dates" and the website, etc... Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, how did you resolve it? I just don't want people to spend hundreds/thousands to come and end up at the wrong resort! My main issue is that my mom is italian and I initally only wanted to invite like 75 people, our guest list ended up over 200, because we figured most of them wouldn't come anyway. Now I'm trying to contact 200 (most of which are my moms random people) to clarify the resort! And on a random side note, a few of my guests have found airfare from Chicago direct to cancun w/ American Airlines, for $250 round trip! Alot of the guests will be spending under 1K so I'm VERY excited about that!! Sorry this is so long
  14. hmmm. I didn't get as far as pricing, and also didn't do a site visit. I do have this link for a review of a wedding there, but I'm not sure if you've already seen it! Perfect Wedding at Playacar Palace - Review of Playacar Palace Reviews, Playa del Carmen, Mexico - TripAdvisor That will be AWESOME to go there in Sept. I'm so jealous.
  15. Hi Tanya, Sorry for freaking you out! I just went back through my emails and the issue was not that the limit in general was 40, it was just that I was in love with that terrace deck thing overlooking the ocean, and that location within Playacar couldn't hold more than 40. Again, I apologize, I should have reviewed more before posting! I still love the resort and think it's absolutely gorgeous!
  16. Tanya- I LOVED PP. I only decided agaisnt it because I was told I couldnt have more than 40 guests and my family is Italian and they all want to come. I still have this website in my favorites and it has some great pics. Good Luck & Happy Planning! 17. Hey Katie! We're doing exactly what you mentioned! We wanted to switch to adults only and have something private We're checking out of the RIU the Monday after our wedding and having our honeymoon at Secrets Maroma Beach. We're just staying 5 days (monday through friday) since we'll have already been in mexico a while. I researched a lot of places and loved this one. Its only a few years old and it's gorgeous! Check out the pics: Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun We were quoted 1920 for 5 days and that was for a partial ocean view. I think we're going to upgrade to a full ocean view though...anyway check out the website and let me know what you think. I'm SO excited.
  18. We're actually getting "legally married" in July, although our wedding isn't until November. The reason its 4 months ahead of our wedding is because we bought a house and his parents aren't comfortable with us living together before we're married. Since we knew we were going to get married before the actual ceremony anyway (due to the hassle of bloodwork, paper translation, etc) we figured we might as well do it a little earlier so we could live together. We're not telling anyone though, except for our parents. I won't consider us "Married" until our wedding this november! It seems like a BUNCH of people get married before hand and reading through the forum made me feel a lot better about it! Good Luck
  19. If anyone is looking for Save the Date's, i got mine from magnet street. ( Product Type: Save the Date Magnets ) I couldn't find any destination/beachy ones that I liked, so I found a plain black one and google imaged a bunch of different tropical pictures. It turned out really cute, and you could personalize however you wanted right from the website and see what it looked like. I attached a few (but didnt update our names, just the pics) so you guys could see, in case you like them. actual sizes.doc
  20. Katie, Did you get a confirmation code already? I got one that held my wedding date for a period of time (like 30 days or something pretty long) so that I had time to figure out WHEN to leave and WHEN to return. Like you, I got almost all the way through booking, and needed room info! I was reassured that the date was still held while I tried to figure out my travel timeline, so don't worry! To answer ShellK- I just googled "wedding tickers" and found a BUNCH of sites that had different countdowns available.
  21. Thanks Guys! I just checked out Carlos's website and got excited. I love looking at Destination Wedding pics!! I look forward to hearing from you Ms. Betty! Hope your consultation goes great I'm also not staying with the FI the night before, but we're getting in on wed. and I think we'll spend wed. night and thurs. night together, just not friday...lol I haven't thought much about the vow situation, but will probably not write our own. Question for everyone: What are your groomsmen/groom going to wear? I can't decide between the "linen suit" look or just a white shirt and linen pants. Anyone have any good websites for destination groom attire? Also, what about your bridesmaids? Are you going with a traditional "bridesmaid dress?" I've been looking on Macy's.com and victoria secret and there are a ton of cute dresses that are beachy, cheaper, and not from a bridal shop. thoughts??
  22. Chloe- MY TA told me the same thing. She pretty much does all of my communicating which has been OK so far, since I'm not doing THAT much right now. But I also have not gotten this "wedding pack" others speak of?? We're getting married at 3 and haven't decided what to do with the gap between the wedding & reception. I read a few ideas posted on here previously about bringing personalized mugs for the guests that they can drink out of @ the resort, and you can also easily identify those who came to your wedding from accross the resort. I thought that was cute as well as maraccas (sp?) at the table settings for people to shake when they make a toast or want you to kiss. Love that! Carrie- That is so exciting that you get to start planning! I was also told today that you only pay a day pass for the outside photagrapher, so I'm hoping we get some final answers on that shortly! Does anyone know if Carlos is still a photographer for the resort? I read a while back he was great!

I'm not sure if I should risk it or not.. though I do have the emails to prove it. :/ everyone on the forums are saying they're not allowed, so I'm very confused.. Gina- I would assume that if you have it in writing, as long as they don't specify AGAIN in writing that the photog. is not allowed....there is no way they can not allow them in on the day of your wedding! However, it's pretty risky to just go with that email and hope for the best. I personally haven't decided what to do about the Photographer yet and was probably going to use the one from the resort. Do you want me to ask for more details and see if they give me the same response? Maybe it will give you more piece of mind if they are telling multiple people that photographers are allowed with a day pass? Also....you're getting married 4 days after me!!! That is so fun, what day are you arriving at RIU?? If you'll be there on 11-28 feel free to come to the wedding or check out any of the preperation, etc that's going on for mine, so you can have a better idea of how yours will go. Just a thought!
  24. Here is the update I got on Fire Dancers : I was told that having fire dancers is not possible BUT when the wedding coordinator contacts you and 1-2 months before your wedding to finalize all of the details then you can ask her again to see if anything has changed.....so TylersGirl, maybe by the end of July you can shed more light? I wonder what the difference is or why they changed their policy...I loved that idea!
