  1. Very kid friendly - in fact the Del Mar/Beach have a kids program nightly before the entertainment, a kids play area (with pool) and a kids program. We were there in May and there were LOTS of kids there.
  2. We are trying to decide the first "fast song" that will get the crowd up and going for the reception. Which of these songs do you think is most likely to get everyone going? (i don't know how to do a poll, but if anyone else does, could you make one for me) - thank you A) Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC Sweet Child of Mine - Guns n Roses c) Just can't get Enough - Depeche Mode Thanks for your opinions.
  3. I always send a personal thank you card - I think it makes you stand out from the others. With that being said, I am a program manager, and hire project managers, and I thnk the email is great. If you ever would consider moving to San Antonio, let me know
  4. Tough decision, you hate to spend money for only 15 minutes..but you also don't want a mish-mosh of chairs (what if they don't match), or even worse, not to be able to find enough chairs. I'd probably rent if it was me - just to give a consistent look and because then you don't have to worry about it and then you can have the chairs you really want
  5. Everything looks amazing!!! I am using the same bridesmaid dresses (in mocha brown) and my girls love it and said they are really flattering.
  6. So, my invitations are done and mailed. I got delayed towards the end when I realized that I needed Canadian stamps for the rsvp cards to come back to me...so I had to call my sister and get her to get me Canadian stamps, then send them to me - so they went out a little later than I'd hoped (we want rsvp's back by 9/1), but I had everything already printed, so I couldn't change the date on anything. Here are some pics, we did the DIY Boarding Pass Invites, and from what I am hearing from people who saw them - they were all so excited to get them. I added the little starfish charm in the corner (from Oriental Trading) and then tied the whole package with a ribbon/bow in either brown or teal.
  7. Looks like the verdict is unanimous - and I agree!! Keep the dress, it is soooo beautiful
  8. Maura - i hope you have an incredible day! You will look STUNNING in your dress...can't wait to see pics.
  9. Have an amazing day!!! You have put so much work and creativity into this event - I'm sure it will be spectacular! Deep Breath and have fun

  11. I think there is a perception that because the wedding is at an all inclusive resort, it doesn't matter how many people come....as everything is free. My resort is still $18.00/p.p. for dinner, and cocktail hour $6.00 p.p. for open bar...so adding people that we didnt' intend to invite can become very costly. Plus in our case, we are taking everyone out on a snorkel trip the day prior which is another $40 - so the people that are inviting themselves would actually cost us almost $70. p.p. if we didn't try to stop it. I have had many people say, oh, "so and so is going to come with me (ie, cousin, sister etc) - so they can vacation together...and they just assume no big deal to come to the wedding. I'm trying to educate everyone, but I hate to come off as cheap.
  12. Thank you!!! I've copied your idea and mofied it a little with my own saying and logo...will post once complete! They were super easy and I think people will really find them useful.
  13. 4pm - we wanted it later, but our WV scared me regarding the available natural light for pics, etc.
  14. I was going to say the same thing - there are 2 Alfred Angelo stores in San Antonio...call them both and see if they have a size 6 on the rack in jade (any style)....you may need to sweet talk them, but i bet if you call around to them, you may get a break. It won't be the same style, but at least the color will be a match. Good Luck!!!!!
  15. WOW - great job on the shirts - i would have never known you made them yourself. GReat DIY project

    Hi Everyone

Happy to have you join you will love this forum and you will get more ideas than you ever thought possible
  17. I don't have a relationship with my father, and my mom passed away about 6 moths ago - so my younger brother will be walking me down the aisle (if I can get him away from the open bar - ha ha).

I may need to rush it of course, but some of my friends are making me feel doomed that I'll have to buy one that is off rack & I can't order it anymore?? Help! Laura Hi Laura, take a deep breath - it will be OK! I found my dress the middle of June and it is already here...so I think if you find one in the next couple of weeks, you will still be ok
  19. I bought a dress the first day I went shopping....it looked good on me, and I let my opinion be swayed by everyone in the store saying that was their favorite...so i bought in. In the car on the way home I had a breakdown and called the store, telling them I didn't feel good about the purchase...they let me return it, but only on the condition that I buy another one from them (this was also non-refundable) - so perhaps the store will work with you, if you can find another dress there. Fortunately I ended up finding a dress I loved at the same store...so it all worked out. PS - did the same thing with my veil - bought cathedral length, then regretted the decision, returned it and bought a shorter one (again, they credited me because I bought the new one in the store too). Moral of the story for me - i should not make big decisions so quickly and be swayed by the opinion of others.

You hit the nail on the head - that is exactly what I am afraid of too. thanks
  21. CUTE dresses!! I'd not mess with the dress - they look great as they are - maybe bring in your colors by a flower in the hair or something.
  22. Safeway in Lahaina will be fine, Longs Drugs (close to the safeway) will also probably have a good selection of snacky stuff.
  23. So my Sister In Law (to be) was over last night and started messing around with my hair. My hair is normally very, very straight, but she curled it all, and put it half-up and then all-up. Obviously I would have a real stylist do this for the "practice round", but I would love your opinions on which you prefer....so I can go into the trail with something already in mind. I'm still not 100% decided if I will have it curly (as i'm afraid it will go flat in the wind and the humidity), but of these 2 below, which is your prefernce. Half-up or All-up?? Thanks for your honest opinions (remember, this is just us drinking wine, messing with my hair - so the tags are on the veil and headband, the clips don't match etc) - definitely NOT a professional job, but you will get the idea.
  24. They look really pretty. Where did you find the white starfish, and did you glue them to the ribbon? if so, do they seem secure on there?
