I cannot believe it...
Jenn replied to Lizzy's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I'm sorry to hear about Virginia That is sad news. As for the wedding stuff, I hear ya! We leave for Jamaica the 15th, my work schedule is jammed for the next 2 weeks, and I still have about a million little things to do! Yesterday we were food shopping and FI was like, "is it too early to buy travel toothbrushes and stuff?" Um, hello? We are running out of time! It is not too early for anything - lol! Everything will get done and I'm sure Maggie's wedding will be beautiful -
Well, sort of DIY if you live in Philly... There is a store called Beadworks on 2nd, just south of South St. where you can make your own jewelry! They sell all of the beads in the store (and online Beads, Gemstones, Lampwork Glass, Pearls by Beadworks), but the really great part is that they will essentially make it for you in the store! You pick out the beads, make the design, thread them, and then they attach all of the clasps and do the hard part! Truthfully, most of what the girl did I could've done if I had the tools, but for $4 in labor, why buy the tools! I just looked at their online catalog, and they carry all of the swarovski crystals and tons of beautiful beads! They even have precious gemstone beads It's hard to take good pics because they are crystal, but I love the way my stuff came out! It looks just like the really expensive sets from online, but about 1/3 of the cost Bracelet and Earrings I made:

I Finally Tried On Dresses!
Jenn replied to trisha0612's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Gosh that's hard! Is the last one a Nicole Miller? It looks like the dress I almost bought from her. I love the first and second ones also - the 1st is uber-flattering, and the train on the second is gorgeous! I also like the one with the flower on it. Good choices all around! -
Welcome to the forum! I'm actually getting married just outside of Negril at a small all-inclusive/bed and breakfast - Jamaica Vacation - Little Bay Bed Breakfast Inn - Negril Wedding, Caribbean . We're having 15 guests (the hotel only has 13 rooms). We wanted something more intimate, but still affordable for our guests and Coral Cove looks incredible. The staff and owners have been more than helpful, though I have done a lot on my own. Other places we looked at: The Rockhouse (Rockhouse Hotel/Restaurant), Sunset at the Palms (Sunset at the Palms), Moon Dance Villas (Moon Dance Resorts - Negril, Jamaica), The Caves - very expensive (The Caves Resort in Negril, Jamaica). Not in Negril, but we looked at Jakes (Jake’s Resort in Treasure Beach, Jamaica), and Mar Blue (Marblue Villa Suites in Treasure Beach, Jamaica.). If you have any questions, let me know! We're leaving for Jamaica in 2 weeks, so I'll have more info when I get back!

Hair - Dress - Tiara
Jenn replied to LeXiee's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think either #1 or #3. I love #3, but I think your dress may have some detailing that matches #1. Have you tried on the different width bands? I only ask because #1 looks a lot wider than the other 2. They're all beautiful though -
Makeup Application?

I would definitely recomend bringing your own make up though. They had a drawer of old make up there. If you're nervous about it and you have time before your wedding day you could go on for a trial run. I had a trial of my hair but not my make up. I still need to buy new makeup, but I'm waiting until the tanning has kicked in just a little more. I'll probably get Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier makeup, b/c I love both of their lines. I'm definitely bringing my own down and having it done by someone though. I'd be freaked about having random Jamaican makeup on my face for the wedding - I'm sure I'd end up breaking out - lol. -

Carly - I know I've said this before, but I love the dresses and parasols you chose! They are going to be gorgeous!

Hair Flower Ideas (Pic Heavy)

An alligator clip or comb might be tough, but smaller flowers on hairpins (not bobby pins) should work -

Flowers/Centerpieces in Jamaica - Any Megastores?
Jenn replied to Jenn's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Just wanted to update you guys on TPG. So far, they have been really helpful. They have a small selection of flowers that they have standard, but for a larger wedding can order anything you want. Their prices for roses are REALLY reasonable. We were quoted $5/rose by our WC's florist (using for petals and probably my bouquet)... this place is 2 dozen for $28! Pretty good if you ask me They also can supply vases/lilly bowls, have glass marbles for centerpieces and can get anything they don't have. They have 2 locations - MoBay and Kingston. Overall, they've been a huge help. I'll let you all know what I thought in about a month! -
Lizz - I will PM you. I don't know what they charge for arrangements, but loose flowers are cheap. They have 2 locations - MoBay and Kingston. If you can wait a little while longer, I can definitely get more info from them when I'm down there

My Turn for Shoe Help!
Jenn replied to foxytv's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think they would both look good, but I think the coloring on the Dr. Scholl's is better with your dress! So, I voted #2. Love your ceremony shoes too!!! -
Welcome to the forum! I started planning in July and am getting married this month, so I'm sure you can do May if that's what you want Once you get the location and date, the rest will fall into place!

should i buy these shoes??
Jenn replied to cessyboston's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
The shoes are super cute! I would also worry about about the jewels catching though If you think the dress will be ok, go for it! If there is any doubt... -

I think that's it! -
You could definitely use them at different times... you could get parasols for the wedding - and I would probably only get them for the ladies. Then you could use your fans somewhere else - maybe attach a menu to them and put them on the plates or chairs at dinner?

I'm getting married this month and will probably have leftover stuff, but I'm not going to sell anything until February. I'll post on here when we get back from our honeymoon though

I think parasols alone would look fantastic! If you have your heart set on flowers, will the RIU let you bring in from an outside florist? I'm getting my flowers in Montego Bay and so far am really happy with my florist. Granted, my stepfather is a florist, so we are buying in bulk and arranging ourselves, but this place has been REALLY helpful so far, and cheap! They are from the states, which also makes them a little easier to work with. The store is called TPG distributors and I have the owners email. Find out if you can bring in from outside and maybe it will work for you!

I'm sure some of the resident photogs will chime in soon, but I don't think it is rude. If there is something in particular you want, you should let your photographer know. I wouldn't map out how you want them to shoot the whole day, but a little direction on what you want from your images should be ok if done in the right way

Veil Decision -- Down to Two.
Jenn replied to foxytv's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I agree with the other girls... I personally like a 1 tier veil, but you need to go with what you like for that. I like the detailing on the second veil because its a little simpler than the first, and your dress has great detailing. I just like a 1 tier better...
