I always said I would never change my name as I really like my last name. But he was adamant that he wouldn't take my last name and I really didn't want our son to have a different name to me or his father. So I decided that I would change my name but I really really disliked his last name! After much discussion we decided that we would both change our names! His father was an a*hole and walked out when he was little, so to have a name the same as him (his parents were never married) didn't make sense anyway. He's kept the name as an additional middle name anyway and he's changed his surname to his mother's maiden name - which we both like. I will keep my surname as another middle name and take on his new name. Unfortunately we couldn't double barrel as my surname doesn't go with anything!!

We're getting married in June on Anna Maria and my sister, who lives in Florida, keeps telling us how hot it will be etc etc. We're having a morning wedding though, as we have a 16 month old and he is generally much happier in the mornings. Plus, we can't have the ceremony too late otherwise he will be in bed and I really want him there. I hope those turtles don't disrupt things too much - but how cool to be sharing the beach with them

It is so difficult to please everybody, so I think you are right about compromise. Perhaps try to make sure you are talking to them about your decisions. I guess that seems obvious, but I have realised (with hindsight) that some of our issues where people got upset was because we got so caught up discussing what we were going to do and actually forgot to tell important people why. We kinda expected them to know via some mystic power obviously!! We have now found that sometimes chatting with people casually allowed them to come to the same conclusions that we had, we didn't change any of our decisions, but they felt like they had helped us reach those decisions so were happier. Just something to consider in case you've become a little caught up and blinded like I have

The dress, the dress, the dress!!! And I'm not even going to lie and say that it's so everyone else can get to see me in it and 'experience my wedding' - hell no. It's so they can see me in it and for the first time ever think 'wow!' Ha haha. That dress is too expensive, too gorgeous and actually looks too nice on me for it to only ever have one outing. Believe me, I have so many body issues and hang ups that the opportunity to wear a dress that can pull in and push out all the right bits can never come too often for me. Now.... if I could only find something that could do that to my face without involving pain I'd be a happy little bride to be!

To hell with people passing judgement. I don't think it's tacky and if they don't like it then they don't have to come! We're having a post wedding party - I'm calling it a Reception but not actually doing a proper sit down meal or anything so I guess it's more of a drink up with a buffet than a reception. BUT I am most definitely wearing the dress again. It cost a fortune and I love it. I don't think I will ever own or wear anything so expensive ever again, and I suspect I will sell it after the AHR so wearing it twice is a true bonus. If I thought I could wear it down my local pub I probably would, although I suspect I would probably get looked at ever so slightly strangely if I did that! What do you think?!
