Just found this thread! I have been on this site awhile and there is still soo much to look at! I'm getting at Melia Caribe in Punta Cana on April 17!! Cannot wait!! My wedding dress should be in by the end of September!! I have been working on my OOT bags and they are mostly finished. Reading all the posts made me realize I need to get going on my invites!

I never go into Michael's without a coupon!! It's amazing the prices they charge! So happy there are coupons out there.

I'm not wearing a veil either. Since the beginning of the wedding planning, I decided that I want a flower in my hair and no veil. I kept thinking about the wind down there and didn't want that distracting me all day long.

I'm getting excited for you!! Can't to wait to hear all about it!! What? I thought we decided before we got to the resort what restaurant the dinner would be in. In the original email I got from my WC, she asked what we wanted to do for the reception and we picked dinner at the Italian restaurant. I will be doing up invites with more details on them since, like you, no one really knows the plan for the week. If I were you, I would do up invites and put to be determined, that way it gives your guests some idea of a timeline. Good idea of doing seating cards! Maybe your WC can put reserved on a couple tables close to yours. Could be another option! That's alot of suitcases!! I haven't even thought about that part yet!lol!

So sorry that your BYR experience was not good! Have you sent them an email or anything yet to let them know what happened? I'm interested to hear their response since I see sooo many things I want to buy from there. Makes me nervous about that!!

FI and I chose a destination wedding because neither of us wanted the big church wedding and the reception. Also, because we want our guests to be able to enjoy a week's vacation along with us and it will hopefully be a party all week long! We went to destination wedding 2 years ago and being there the whole week with the bride and groom was a lot of fun and a lot less hassle. Fingers crossed it works the same way for mine!

Oh Tori!! That is frustrating! I'm sure they will find something soon! These are the times I am glad I am not having wedding party!

I read them after you posted this and I always take them with a grain of salt. It seems like alot of them were there during the hurricane, so that could have affected service levels. Did you notice that Melia responded to all the bad ones? I have never seen them do that before so, to me, it seems like they are taking steps to address the concerns.

That sounds exactly what I want to do! The only thing about our resort is that the place where we are having the reception is a pretty far distance to the beach. There is a train to take guests, so maybe we can all pile onto that.

Question for you - Did you guys say anything before you released them? I am trying to figure how to get our guests down to beach after our reception and what, if anything, we should say about the lanterns.

I am trying to figure out what I should wear for earrings with my bracelet. I'm going to have a flower in my hair and my dress ties up around my neck in a bow, so I don't want the earrings to be too much. Here is a picture of my bracelet. Any suggestions??
