Laura it's no wonder MIL's get such a bad reputation. Most of us have no problem telling our own mothers how we feel, but it's much more difficult when it's someone else. I wish you all the luck. You can always invite some of us local April brides to make it a less stressful, more enjoyable night, at least you talk to us almost every day.

Laura I completely understand. Sometimes I wonder why these people don't just have their own weddings if they want everything their way. Oh wait, you had your chance, now it's my turn. As for her comments, I will agree to adding Saturday (just because people are sometimes silly/stupid) and the Lower Level (same reason) and the phone number for her reasons. I don't think it's necessary to tell them about the video/photo collage because it is a nice surprise and shouldn't be a reason to attend/not attend. I don't think the time is being distasteful, it is a guideline. She is funny though, talking about a traditional reception even though you two have clearly expressed that is not your intention. You can tell her it is extremely distasteful to mention gift intentions. It is an invite to attend a celebration, not a direction for a gift.

Erin, I can totally see that happening. I hope the future in-laws are bright enough to realize that it is still a fairly formal reception and there will not be room for people that decide to come at the last minute or just show up. I know that there's already stress on FI's side between the two families and this will probably add to it. But if they can't be courteous to us why would we want them at our special event. We decided last night to make it a luncheon to save his family hotel costs.

Brandy, the invites are looking fabulous. Tris, it's pretty funny that you are feeling down about your wedding. My FI is starting to get so excited and slightly nervous and I'm starting to feel like I'm over it, lets talk about the next thing. I'm trying to push getting the AHR booked and he's trying to tell me to relax. They just don't get that these things require a lot of planning well in advance. I also told him last night that if I'm automatically dropping anyone that didn't return their RSVP. I said if they can't have the decency to check off a box and send a pre-stamped and addressed envelope why should we spend $100 per person on them. He laughed, but agreed.

Meggers that's amazing. I would love an AHR like that. Lisa, I'm thinking something involving the secret or mystery surrounding Caramilk. I just bought one for inspiration so hopefully it helps. At least it tastes pretty good. Erin, I hope you find new shoes. I'm still waiting for my "new" dress to ship so I'm holding off on my shoes.

They haven't really booked anything. They just wanted other people to think that they were going. I joke to FI that maybe they are secretly planning on paying for the whole thing as a surprise gift.

I would have been pleased if people that knew for sure there was no way would have returned our RSVPs. I don't think we have gotten any back from FFIL's family. But they have all apparently booked hotel rooms for our AHR. We haven't even picked a venue or date for that. I should have listened to FMIL and not even bothered with sending them invites instead of trying not to offend.

Teira - I totally agree! It will be so exciting to everything that we have all picked in one place. We have to find a venue and a date for our AHR too. Brandy - I think you should post it soon and then add the remaining pictures later if you have to. I know you have already been working on it so I'm am so excited to see yours. Today I made another DIY decision. Originally, I wanted maracas as favors but figured people might lose them or just forget them at dinner. So today I was inspired to make labels for either Rolos (to look like cigars, and I also always liked their slogan "I'd give you my last Rolo") or Caramilk bars. Anyone have a creative saying for either one? I also figure they might be a cute gift for the servers since Caramilks are only readily available in Canada.

It does happen a lot. Too often. If someone asked me to be a part of their wedding I would upfront from the beginning if I knew I couldn't attend for whatever reason. One of my BM's backed out too when she got pregnant, but I was already half expecting her to do so for financial reasons. I too felt guilty about asking someone else to stand in, so I am just having my BF MoH and sister as BM. Merrylee, you still have over a year! Don't worry.

I think it looks really well done. It's hard to tell exactly because she is just holding it up, but there is lots of delicate detail on the bodice and the skirt looks nice and full. I hope you get it soon so you can tell us about the fit. The veil is definitely gorgeous.

Those are so cute. We are having our ring bearer carry a treasure chest instead of a pillow so this a great decorating reference.

Lisa, I got most of mine from frostwire, but definitely liked limewire so much better. Why do they have to make it so hard to get what we will eventually find for free?

Our wedding is in 6 weeks, our RSVP date was 3 weeks ago. We have only received about 40% of the returned, stamped and addressed envelopes. I honestly don't even know why I included them and wasted the money on stamps. People are so inconsiderate. I hope that they at least used the stamps to send something else in the mail, even if it was to pay their hydro bills! It is their own fault if they miss out on early booking rates. Our resort rates were the same and the air fare has only increased. The only thing I would comment on is that some people can't plan that far in advance due to work or financial restrictions. I know it's tough to accept, but I would be happy if a bunch of people managed to make it at the last minute.

Brandy, I have been working on my planning thread, but I only have pictures. I need everything in front of me. Tris, you deserve the award for all the hard work you did on your invites. Ladies, I envy all of you with the 18F or -12C. That is a hot day here. Most days it's too cold to snow! But there is still about 2-3 feet.

I love the flower. How about wearing silver shoes? My girls have tangerine dresses and will be wearing silver shoes.

Erin, I hear you! In six weeks, the only white stuff around will be the sand beneath our toes, the wind will be a soothing, salty refreshing breeze, the sun will be basking on our skin and I will actually be experiencing about a 60 C or 140 F temperature difference! Brandy, I feel the two month, almost everything is done, lull right now. I also really need to see everything together so I can decide if anything is missing.
