I'm not sure if it makes the situation better or worse, but after a recent trip to India and bangladesh, you have no choice but to be groped. The women are only patted down by women and it's behind a curtain, but it was a bit *ahem* full on. Right or wrong, this may be the future of plane travel.

eeee, that's a toughie. I know of that story the other way around (i.e the bridesmaid lost so much weight they took off a meter of fabric.....she was a REALLY big girl) but it's hard if it goes the way you've posted. That did happen to a friend of mine, and I think they just took the dress apart and put panels on the side to extend it a bit. That may not work depending on cut/material..etc. but could be worth a try?

I think sandals (nice ones!) are great for DW and comfortable for the guys. My FI has his (we went to Bangladesh earlier this year and he got them made) and I'll post pics for them when I find them (we're moving right now)

Thank god there's a few of us out there who want the silly songs played! I have contacted airlines myself to see about group rates and if I'm able to get a better discount for guests that way. Depending where your flying from, Hawaiian airlines seems pretty reasonable, and they have a special "wedding wings" program. I don't think you'd have enough guests for that (think it's about 20 min) but worth a check there. Otherwise after contacting a few, I feel my guests will get a better rate if they watch for sales themselves, or I watch and then email them with a good time to book. Good luck!

thank you for posting! I was hoping to do something like that but wasn't sure about whether it was worth the effort...turns out it is! Good to know about packing them in carry on too. Hawaii should have a wal mart so finger crossed I can find enough vase's there and just worry about getting them back to Aus.

there are some really great ideas! Some weddings I've been to it's for guests to sing a song with a number in it (the bride and groom were accountants) and one bride had a donation box for a cancer charity and if you wanted the couple to kiss you had to donate a dollar into the box. After attending a wedding in Bangladesh (one of those 5 day affairs), I might try to give guests enough notice and say that if they want us to kiss, the have to do a dance routine. In Bangladesh and Northern Indian weddings, both the bride and groom have nights where there friends stand up and do 4 or 5 choreographed dance routines. It was sooooo cool and I would love to do something like that for our day.

I've come to this conclusion myself, that rather then advertise anything, we'll advertise nothing. I'd rather get the cash to do what we want with it (excursions on the honeymoon, or things for our new house) rather then get items of a registry. I really don't think a cash registry is tacky, to me it's the online version of the wishing wells people have at the actual reception.

For everyone, a nagging email does work! I don't have all my responses, but I'm about 60 some better then I was.......I also at least got to find out who were maybe's as well.

I would like to revive this thread and ask if people do/are inviting their officiant and WC (if she's not coordinating the reception) for a meal? I'm getting married in Hawaii and am curious what other Maui brides have done?

I'm undecided about the shower.....if one is organized, I'll go along with it but I'm not going out of my way to have one. I'm going to organize a "ladies lunch" for all the females that attend the DW, and I figure that will be shower-like. I feel funny about people giving gifts when they are spending so much to travel.
