  1. I agree with you amandasalways, we're doing welcome drinks before hand but are staying low key the day before
  2. I think both are fantastic! I would love to have something like either of them, but I don't think you'll regret having 30lbs less to carry around I think the 2nd is just a glam as #1, so you will look very much the bride on the the day
  3. Do you know how many people might be attending? This can also be a factor, as some place may only be able to hold 20 to 50 people. If you try condo restaurants they usually have grassy areas for ceremony's but back onto beaches. My FI and I are getting married at the Five palms in Kihei. The ceremony is on the restaurant lawn but the beach/ocean will be in the background.
  4. Honestly, I agree that you should have your wedding the way you want, and it that's with no alcohol then that's the way it is. I think you should be prepared if people do leave to get some though (even if it is rude to do). If you are going to be totally fine with that (and I mean, honest to goodness fine, and won't be upset) then there isn't a problem. If there is a chance that you might be upset if people leave for a drink, you and your FI may want to consider providing a few alcoholic bevvies. It doesn't have to be copious amounts, but maybe something for a toast.
  5. Thanks for that, it confirms what I've heard about the topic.
  6. Hey Niajs, I'm in Sydney myself! A workmate of mine just got married in North Sydney and they got some beautiful shots with the harbour bridge and opera house in the background, you'll love it! Saying that there are great shots all over Sydney..... I'm getting married in hawaii as it's in between Sydney and Toronto (I'm Canadian). You could still do OOT bags, welcome letters, and all the other stuff that people do for DW, cause really, you're having one too!
  7. Do you know where in Australia you'll be getting married? There are lots of beautiful spots about an 1 or so from most of the major cities, that way you could get everyone to stay in one spot (cheaper) and you're a bit off the beaten track.
  8. No idea where she got them from BUT I do know that she rang up all the wholesale ones (200+) and negotiated with them to just make 80 for a $1. The bride is away at the mo, but I'll try to get more info for you guys if I can. A few wouldn't do it for that many, and some wanted to charge $3-$5 for a pair. I think she really just called each one individually to sort something out.
  9. Really hope this works out for you! Just remember that when you look in your photo's, it'll be the style of dress that your'e looking at rather then the actual material that it was made out of. I'm sure it will all be fantastic and you'll look fab on your day!
  10. We're getting married in maui in Oct 2011, and I thought it was the best because there's quite a few options for ceremony spots as well as lots to do for guests. From what I've heard the Old Lahaina Luau is the best one with great food. I've had friends who have travelled the carib during Oct and have been totally fine......don't think I'd chance it for a wedding though!
  11. Just so you guys can see what I mean....
  12. I think it just depends on you and your FI. I'm keen to get it sorted sooner rather then later (we're 11 months from the wedding) and I know someone else who bought them 6 months before the wedding....I think 4 or 3 months before is "standard" time
  13. Haven't decided....going to see how many people there are, what the table set up will be like, and if I have time to make them
  14. I think you can start thinking of what you want to do for table decorations, because depending what you want (if something other then flowers) you can start looking for cheap versions of it. Wedding rings, music choices?
