I agree here. I don't think it's tacky whatsoever but I'm not queen of manners lol. Definitely include your website address and travel agency information... maybe a current phone number if you are like me and recently changed your number, that would be a good way to make sure everyone has a way of contacting you if they don't have the internet lol. I think it would be a time saver and also $ saver to have them rsvp asap if they are undecided, you could always send them an official invite in hopes that it will influence them!
  2. Like everyone else - great work! I like how you've wrapped the ribbon all the way around into the pocketfold! Or, were those strips of paper? Regardless they look great!
  3. I am SO JEALOUS@!!~ Those are stunning and vivid and everything someone could hope for! You're making me rethink my whole course of action ladies, and I don't like you for that! lol Seriously though, Rebecca seems to do impeccable work. When I lurk through the forums and see her stuff it makes my jaw drop every time. Gorgeous, your guests will love them! Please invite me so I can have a copy of your invitation? lol
  4. I love what you've done-- vistaprint has been good to me as well =) Congratulations! I'm sure your guests will love them!
  5. Sorry to hear the final outcome of this. Mostly, we all think that it seems a bit foolish to assume a bride would want a bunch of IR shots on her wedding day, and like others pointed out, odd that his assistant wouldn't have been right there with him shooting some "regular" photos but I digress. =( I think the majority of us agree that it is truly lamentable. So if you can't get color photos, i guess the next best thing would be to see if he can adjust the coloration to something you like more. Unfortunately because what is done can't be undone, you will have to settle on something that was different than you truly wanted-- but that doesn't necessarily have to be all negative! Maybe there's a way for him to tweak the really good shots that were in IR and who knows, you could be showcased as the trend-setting bride with pictures that are different from the standard! Trends do get set in the strangest ways You just got married to the man of your dreams and despite the photo coloration you were still beautiful lol.. some of us don't have it that lucky
  6. Looks like you will have some fabulous photos when all is said and done! I like her style, I will look for more of your engagement photos soon! They'll be great!
  7. I've been eyeing these for awhile, both Michael's here have them but every time I go to the bins there isn't a tag to note their price. They also had some metal ones there (luggage tags) awhile ago but again no price on the bins lol... My question to you ladies is are you trying to go for all the same color? or are you just going to mix and match them? They also give out coupons from time to time, so you may do even better if you get a 25% off coupon-- they do one where it's good for your entire purchase, inclusive of sale items <3
  8. Congrats and welcome! I've had a wonderful experience here, all the people are very supportive and kind.. as well as thoughtful, and creative (LOVE frequenting the DIY boards)! I'm sure you can find all the information you need and more from the people that visit. Congratulations on your engagement!

Thanks for this topic and review. I never thought about the downside to using this service. I am going to start working on my registry as well, but now I will think twice about myregistry.
  10. Bad internet =.=;;; sorry for dbl post While I am re-reading, I noticed you said he shot them in "infrared" which seems like baloney. If that is ACTUALLY the case, and it does that weird color-sucking-out thing, then the next best thing would be to have these changed into black and white or sepia tones.. if you have any pics of your sister's dress or the correct colors of some things, the only salvation those pictures may have if NONE of them have original color counterparts is that someone very good with photoshop does some color correction/substitution for you.. but that would take skills. Why would someone intentionally experiment like that, especially when you had a clear idea from the example on his site, what you would have wanted? I think that's a selfish thing to do, considering all of those photos could have been taken normally and with a bit of time in post processing, he could have done similar (if not identical) things. I would love to say he's bluffing about the photos being taken in infrared, but based on some of the things you've said, now I'm not so sure. At any rate, I'm sorry you're disappointed. I'm not an expert but I like to play with photoshop, and if you'd like, I can try to help the way Tlseege has offered and do the color pops as well.
  11. You know, I think it would be really nasty of him to not re-process those pictures. Best case scenario, he gives you a disc with all your photos in raw format so you can have the originals AND copies of these photos re-touched. I am with pretty much all of these ladies that this is work that he's created in photoshop. My cousin's mother does a lot of bridal portraits and engagement shots, and I know 100% for sure that she changes photos to black and white AFTER, she never usually does any oddly colored pics though. If I were in your shoes, I would just say that you would prefer to have those pictures in their original color format. Worst case scenario, the pictures didn't have great colors which is why he tried to get creative with them. If you had the originals, however, a lot can be done to try and fix that.
  12. Vistaprint is how we did our std postcards. They gave me the option of including 100 free envelopes, and since I was attaching our vistaprint magnets to the backs of the postcards, I just sent everything in a standard envelope for people to receive. I can try to figure out how to post pictures, but I assure you the quality and price cannot be beat. You won't regret your order. The envelope is on the left, where I used a wraparound address label. Sorry for all the blurries, but the less actual information we put out there the better, huh? Anyway, the magnets I designed and uploaded to Vistaprint, and then I used one of their postcard templates for the actual date and listed our website on it. used those removable sticky dots from the craft store to affix the post card and wrote quick notes to everyone to the side. It's not the best quality picture but you can get the idea =)
  13. LOL.. like so many others I'll never be able to see these instructions =3 I'm a fairly quiet person, only posting to offer advice when asked for or to give the occasional compliment. One of these days....
  14. Oh yes, I'd love to find out who is selling them on ebay with no minimum... thanks
  15. I did some googling to try and help you out with this. I found these links: Custom Lettering Stencils it SOUNDS like they can do custom orders for the font you want to use, and you should be able to get it as a reusable stencil. Not 100% sure, but it's a starting point. engraving sandblasting stone wood egg art hobby business I believe this link is to a product that you can print directly onto with your printer. If you had a small design, I'm sure you could print multiple on one sheet and then just cut out each like a mini tattoo (like we had when we were kids!) and then place them on your glass surfaces. I would definately read in great detail how to use these before you buy since I just skimmed the information. UltraCarver Ultra Carver I think this link is similar to the above one Custom Reusable Stencils Made With Your Artwork! I am pretty sure this link is to a company that will MAKE a stencil for you if you send your artwork. May be less hassle than any of the other options. Sorry I'm not speaking from experience, but if you try any of these methods I'd be thrilled to see how they turn out =) Best of luck!
  16. I just made an order with VistaPrint (actually, 2 separate orders) and was able to customize my own magnets, and get 100 of them for about $32 with shipping. After, I decided I wanted to attach my magnets to a postcard (100) and send them in the mail together, so I made postcards using a template at Vistaprint. I also made some cards for my bridesmaids. That order came with free envelopes, and cost about $22. I put our website information on the postcards, but plan on writing individual messages beside where I attach the magnets. There are a lot of magnet sites out there, and they really aren't too cheap. If you don't mind waiting for standard slow shipping, it took about 2.5 weeks to get my order from vistaprint and I really like how they turned out, so does my FI.
  17. Sorry to ask such a rude question, but how much do you estimate your entire project cost to put together? I am in the boat to make my own invites as well since I can't afford professional ones and also because I can't find standard ones that fit my style. If you prefer not to answer, I'm cool with that =) They are beautiful!
  18. That's a very neat idea.... you could personalize and embellish however you'd like, fabric paints etc. I just did a quick search on google and found this site: bunnybum: passport sleeve tutorial... If you were feeling really industrious, maybe you could make matching luggage tags? My Longest Year: Quickie Luggage Tag Tutorial These are fabric options, and i guess would only really be a good idea if you were able to sew or have some good friends that would wanna help you bust a few of them out =) Other options may be kirin notebook - textiles, design, craft: How to make a reversible journal cover {Keyka Lou Patterns}: Moleskine Cover Tutorial Passport or Book Cover Tutorial at zakka zakka Glass Beach: Passport Wallet Instructions aspoonfullofsugargirls - A SPOONFUL OF SUGAR I haven't made any of these myself, maybe someone else has some good suggestions or resources? Best of luck!
  19. I was just considering ordering a personal embosser for our envelopes but I think these would be more forgiving/in my budget. Thank you for the inspiration, yours are splendid!
  20. Thanks for the replies. I guess the problem really is the distance from Austin to Galveston. Nobody will be in a hotel even close to the cruise port so we will have to leave the morning of the cruise and travel down there. I'm sure I can figure something out with a charter bus or similar =)
