  1. In this day and age it is more than acceptable to NOT take your husbands name, and it is becoming more and more common. I won't be taking my husbands name either... (largely for vanity reasons though, i really don't like his name). Thankfully he understands, and is supportive of this. I think your FI will get over it, and perhaps you will change your mind eventually and take it, but make him see the reasons why you would want to keep yours, he loves you and will see your side eventually!
  2. I bought mine online for $370 usd... i found it in the store, and bought it online because it was 600$ cheaper... Not doing a trash the dress because we don't have time after the wedding unfortunately we leave the next day.. lots of ladies seem to be passing on dresses for cheap though that would be great for a TTD if you want another. Have you looked online at the cost of yours?
  3. My resort wants to charge $8/tiki torch for my beach reception, which seems a bit steep because i know here in Canada I can get them for $1.00... so does anyone know if they are easily found in Playa del Carmen, and how much they would cost?! This is just me being cheap, but hey that is $8USD which is $10CAD now!

I finally emailed my WC (Carolina) and she is always so great with her responses... i am going to be making lots of decisions soon, so anything interesting i will make sure to post on here!
  5. I too understand how this feels... the morning of our engagement, we found out that a good friend passed away of cancer... 6 months after diagnosis, at only 30-years old. FI went ahead with the proposal because he believed it showed more than ever that you need to appreciate every moment we have... the ones we lose will never begrudge us of that... i am sure your friend would want you to celebrate every moment...
  6. I don't know where you are in Canada, but in vancouver lots of the surf/swim shops have sandals in stock... and REEF has some great brown leather ones that i just checked out for my FI and his GMs
  7. I was thinking about this, this morning, so here they are 1.) Keep up with my new healthy lifestyle 2.) Not regain any of the weight i lost 3.) Get over my fear of the water... frolick in it in my travels this year! 4.) Wake up appreciative of my amazing man lying next to me 5.) Join a running club 6.) Learn to talk to my mother in a constructive way 7.) Further my career 8.) Learn from those we have lost, time passes too quickly not to appreciate every day
  8. I had dress #1 in the same colour as a bms dress this past summer, i got it online at angelinatz.com? for like 1/2 the price and everyone loved the dress... so that would be my vote! I would buy it online and save yourself tons of money! The sash looked great for the wedding and i am just going to have it removed for when i wear it again!
  9. I have been avoiding this post like the plague out of shame for having done absolutely nothing wedding related for over 6 weeks!!!! I haven't even returned my wedding coordinators emails... oops... January 1st is when this slacking comes to an end... I have a march paperwork wedding to plan and i have not even thought about that at all... OMG i just had a mini panic... but then again, i didn't have a house fire so i have no excuse other than laziness!
  10. Thanks so much, i am going to pop into the bose store and ask about it... i will post once i get the official info!
  11. I ordered my dress from bestbridalprices.com, i got it less than 10 weeks after ordering it! It was perfect, and their customer service was amazing. Plus i saved $600.00 from the instore price here in Canada. I just need to get it steamed now, but I highly recommend them!
  12. I am bumping this to find out if anyone knows if you can plug a microphone into the bose portable docking station?! I will totally go this route instead of paying $300 to rent their speakers!
  13. I completely agree! The season is so getting me down because I am constantly denying myself yummy things or eating them and feeling guilty! Ugh, i was doing so well, but too many social engagements and i know I am going to have a set-back!!

I am jealous now... but am sure my pictures will be amazing, even if i have to pay that stupid $500.00 fee!
  15. OMG! That is great news! I insisted that we would have the beach wedding and not the gazebo because i hated the way the gazebo looked... but with the new pier... hmm... thankfully i am the only wedding on my date as yet, so i could theoretically change if i wanted! Either way there can be some nice pictures on it!!! Thanks for the update!
  16. I confess that i have no interest in planning anything to do with my wedding right now... i know i should be all excited about favours, oot bags, decor, menus... i am a chick after-all and i should be all "bridal"... but i want nothing to do with any of it... I just want the day to come and be a big, fun, romantic party!
  17. This is all very interesting, i was told that if i booked the photographer not through Lomas you would still be responsible for the $500/fee, so just check that out... if not, that is a terrific deal, congrats! i am excited about my photographers anyways, i am sure they will do a great job, so not too worried now... I hope the construction is done too... i just want perfection, is that too much to ask? j/k!
  18. Hey thanks for that, i work right by the aldo outlet downtown, so i will check it out tomorrow! Thank you!
  19. OMG that is brutal, it is my worst nightmare. Sorry you had to go through all of that, and i am horrified that the resort apparently could care less about the problem! It is completely unacceptable!!!
  20. Wow, there are 4 of us with April 11th, i was the only one for forever! Rosie, I am a vegetarian, I eat a vegi-plate for lunch every day (seriously!), and i love salad for dinner... that being said, i bet you would have more success if you added some protein into your diet, cheese, beans, lentils... anything really. If you are eating only 1 slice of toast as your carb for the day, your body is going to think you are starving yourself and retain every-last-calorie it can... I bet you would lose more if you just upped the intensity of your workouts a bit and added some protein... Just a thought... I have been working out tons, eating really healthy and as little as possible I suppose, while remaining healthy and balanced...it has been paying off, but i have never worked this hard in my life! I just hope to keep it up until april!
  21. You look beautiful!!! I love that dress, you made the right decision for sure!
