  1. Yah, i guess we should have done this, but we let people book whichever way they wanted. Most are on Signatures Pacakges, including 18 on 1 flight out of Vancouver, but they all booked at diff. places. I think at the time I knew how long it would take people to book, so having a "16th" free wouldn't help us personally and so we didn't bother? Now that seems like a stupid reason, i mean i am sure someone could have used it! You live, you learn right?!
  2. Hey Guys, So I have convinced my dear FI to do a Rock the Reception style first dance, but the problem is that I can not dance! We will definitely need to hire someone to choreograph this for us, and I am having trouble finding anyone in Vancouver to do it! We are not interested in doing serious dancing, mostly "jazz hands" and other cheesy moves to get us through a 3 min Barry White song... Does anyone know someone in Vancouver who does this sort of choreography? I know this is unlikely, but you girls tend to come through all the time! Thanks!
  3. Hey SoontobeE, that is an amazing deal! Ugh, i wish we had been able to arrange something free, we are getting nothing and having 45 people stay at the resort. I am sure it is too late to arrange something now, but there was no promos available when we booked... how did you arrange your deal? I wish we had some sort of perk... now i feel bummed that we get something!

  5. I can't wait to hear from Nicky and have the first official EDSS review... oh gosh i hope it goes well for her! And Soon to be E, not sure that there is anyone here getting married that week... there are only a couple of us EDSS brides as yet on here... perhaps on the EDR post you can find someone?

  7. I just heard back from Carolina with a Map of the locations, here it is guys! I am so happy to see this. I think we will still stick with the portable gazebo for Privacy, but need to decide on the tent still as it will be set up in front of a pretty busy area i guess Map with locations.doc
  8. Somehow i keep missing this post, I can't wait to pick her brain about the whole thing! I am finally starting to get things in order, i have found a local place that i think i can get fans from so i think i will go that route. Our dilemma is still tent or no tent... I emailed Carolina 2 days ago and haven't heard back yet, i may resend my email. I want a map of the resort outlining where our ceremony and reception will be... does anyone have any idea?
  9. I just bought the 23inch wavy one the other day, i hope it is amazing, i plan to use it for the wedding if so! I bought mine new on ebay for $55 USD (including shipping to Canada). I will certainly let you guys know how it works out!
  10. Tracy, I would love your info on the fans! Particularly ones that are affordable to ship to canada! I need less than 50, so i guess i would need one with a smaller limit? Thanks so much! FYI my name is Carolyn :-)
  11. You are right Prairiegirl, it is flying!!! I am relieved to hear about not having to pay so far in advance! That means more time for decision making and saving! I will be inundating you with questions upon your return, just you wait! My wedding is at 3pm as well... other than the heat i am happy about it, lots of time to get ready, and enough time for people to keep to themselves between ceremony and reception. I plan to buy fans for the guests to fan themselves... i gotta get on it!

El Dorado Seaside Suites Mexico - Traveler Reviews - Superb in EVERY Way!! - TripAdvisor The pier does look great! Thanks for pointing that out! I can't believe your wedding is already here, when do you get back? We will be picking your brain for sure, and it will be great to have a full EDSS review on here for other brides!
  13. I just checked out trip advisor, and must be blind because i couldn't see this pic! Please post the link! I am having Bridesmaids, but i am using fake calla's for everyone. The cost of bouquets there is atrocious so I am ordering Fleuramatique callas and putting them together myself. My sample should arrive any day, i have already seen some which are amazing! I think on the lomas site you can get smaller bouquets for like $50USD, so those are probably for BMs. I emailed about the cost of individual callas and was quoted $20USD/each! Crazy!!! I also just emailed this guy on trip advisor who just got married there and asked him about wind and night time temperature and whether we should bother with a tent or not... also asked what was worth spending money on and what is not. I will let you know when i get a reply! Crazy how time is flying!
  14. OMG, i have totally missed these posts, i am supposed to get instant notifications... Oops, i was planning on getting things started again on here, My wedding is coming up so fast! So i just emailed the resort reservations to find out if it is possible for any guests who are coming just for a day or 2 to pay the resort to stay in one of the already booked rooms. For example we have a couple people who due to work reasons can only come for 2 nights... their spouses already have a shared room, but would they be allowed to just go in this room too and pay a set amount to the resort instead of booking a single room? I have been figuring out centerpieces recently, and food, i need to clarify with Carolina if we can use the Royale set menu as you guys were told, as we will go for one of the mid-range ones if so... We started compiling a music list for the ipod as well... tons of fun songs, i am excited!

No cake here.. as we are the 'free package' no cake was included.. also I did some 'price checking'.. if you add all the extras in the Silver package (from the price sheet) and pay for the room upgrade... it's was still cheaper for us than the the Silver package... We needed 15 'room nights' which our parents (2 rooms 7 nights each) and our second week (honeymoon) help us meet that requirement.. So the idea of having everything prepaid a month in advance?? It would have been Jan 6th.. and Carolina still hasn't got back to us.. not sure when all the finally details will be settled (prior to leaving) We did the calculations too for the free vs. silver and decided it was much cheaper to go for the free... I didn't realize you had Carolina too... she told me we had to pre-pay 6 weeks before (or so i thought), if you have been in contact with her recently i wouldn't worry about the pre-pay for as long as possible! Carolina did say they could steam the dress and it averaged about $35/USD so not bad! I gotta email and get more info about the speakers, i really want to make sure our beach ceremony will be heard! FYI, i am actually getting excited, you must be going crazy, this is so soon for you!
  16. SoontobeE thanks for that! FI and i talked about this last night, and our reasons for wanting a tent are not rain (as i am 99% confident that isn't an issue) but privacy, so it seems like we will go ahead with that and get the tent that has sides that can roll down so if it is super windy we can close them up if necessary... He feels like this is a very important part of the ambiance for the evening (i probably would just do it out in the open otherwise!) So i think we are just going to stick with the tent, but as to dinner and the menu's i will ask my WC, FI is such a foodie, too much to go with a basic menu, so i think we are stuck paying the astronomical prices for a la carte! What is your wedding date again? i guess just a few weeks ahead of mine, you are going to have to give me lots of suggestions when you get back! It will be great for future brides to have the info we can provide, at least 1 EDSS review would be great!
  17. Hey guys thanks for looking, those are both close in the neckline, i was so certain that it was a Maggie Sottero and when the 2009 line came out it would be in it, but nope, it isn't there... perhaps it is best not to know!

She changed the wedding reception to the swing bar restaurant - which was really nice. As a guest I am pleased that the couple decided to have the dinner inside as it gets pretty cold at night. Most of the girls had to wear a little cardigan at night. The beach ceremony was beautiful but the microphones kept cutting out so you heard the judge's every fourth word. If you or your bridemaids are thinking about walking down the aisle with heels - forget it. We all bought shoes to compliment our dresses but disposed of them last minute. Aside from those 2 items the wedding was flawless. The food was first class and the staff is very accomodating. Good luck and let me know if you have any specific questions about the EDSS. Thank you so much for letting us know all of this... now my wedding is in 3 months so it should be warmer at night, so temperature wise i am not so worried, but the wind is a problem! We are paying $1560USD to rent a tent which is non-refundable so if we change our mind when getting there we would be out a ton of money. Do you think a tent (with 2 sides open and 2 sides closed) would be a worthwhile investment? How many people were at the wedding? Was there dancing, speaches, decorations even though it was inside last minute? Also, do you think the microphones were just faulty that day, as that would ruin the ceremony in my opinion! I would be so upset if people couldn't hear it... Did the bride wear a veil, would you say it is too windy for this? So many questions, sorry, but i am getting nervous!

So we're thinking about upgrading to the 33. In addition - if you are getting the free wedding package with the dinner in Arifices (sp?) included you can still use that large restaurant dinner for another vent (rehearsal dinner, welcome dinner, etc). We're having our welcome dinner once everyone arrives and then are having the private reception outside. We're making the welcome dinner optional, but we think people will like the chance to get together....or they'll be angry to lose another night in paradise ; ) Good luck! Ok, this is all so confusing... so I have seen that list before, however i was under the impression that that one was for El Dorado Royale and NOT EDSS... i have one that is specific to EDSS for 2009, and it is different... there are no set menu options like that. Do you know for a fact that you can order off that one even though it says EDR at the top? Ok, i am annoyed! I may inquire about doing our welcome reception as our free dinner, but it seems we will have 45 people, so it may be tough. Otherwise Carolina suggested just meeting at one of the bars and having drinks and food that is already included in our all-inclusive resort! Oh and about the cake, i decided to go with a candy table, a pinata, and ice-cream sandwiches as opposed to cake, but i think if you saw samples and liked them, the cake is a good call! Go with what your dream is!
  20. I ordered mine online and only had to pay the GST & PST when i brought it across the border... if it is shipping directly to you though it will likely be more and if it is from UPS or FedEX it could be alot more with brokerage charges... But you will still have saved a ton!

  22. Hey Ladies, Well it has been many months since i posted this, and though i have since bought an amazing dress that i love (not from that store!), i still would love to know what dress this is. Since all the 2009 dresses are out perhaps someone has seen it? This is one of those things that i will always want to know so why not go ahead and figure it out now?! Though i hope if i do find it i don't become a 2 dress bride! Thanks!
  23. Ok, i am still desperate to know about this whole $11/pp dinner option for a private reception, have any of you other girls heard about this? Also, in terms of makeup and hair, what are you guys doing! 85 USD/each is so much money for makeup! I have 4 BMs so that will cost me a fortune... plus with hair... wow, that is crazy that it costs so much! Do you have any other options? Hey Tracy, just curious as to why you went with the Silver package, i just went with free because i didn't think you got much for the extra money, perhaps i was wrong? Does it include decorations or anything?

The first one includes almost all the things that I want but not all, and some that I don't want.. I have emailed my WC about this and her answer confused me as to which was the better choice.. did any of you choose one of those options and then just customized the 220US one to the stuff you wanted?? If you could let me know that would be great!!! I am getting the free wedding package, and i am not paying for the altar (though it will be undecorated unless i pay for that...) i think the altar prices are for if you are doing the a la carte wedding without the package?
