She was in and out of the reception.... wait, that was me running around She was around the tower lobby area. They brought out a table with lit sterno cans for us to light them. It worked best for them to light a bunch and people walk up and take one at a time... We all bunched around at first trying to light our own. That didn't work very well. They were enjoyed by all! Might sound a silly question but at what point did you give the sparklers out, was it after the ceremony or after the reception ? I love fireworks and I think they are a great alternative ! Did you buy them in Cancun when you got there ?

I totally agree with Paula and Jilly, at first I admit I went steaming ahead inviting everyone who I could think of thinking that there may be a handful out of the 40 ish guests but as it happens most of them are comming which is fab but it wasn't untill I started the ball rolling that I realised the package was only for 20 ppl, all I can say is its a good job for me that I've got plenty of time to save for all these extras LOL !

Hi there, I'm from the UK and we're getting married legally in Mexico, I know its much easier to just have ceremony @ Dreams and do the legal stuff @ home and it does also save money but I personally want to do it all @ Dreams. If you do have the legal ceremony you must also get your birthcirtificates appostled too, I would speak to your WC about this, some say you can do it when you arrive and some have done it @ home before travelling, just something else to keep in mind x

Nope ! We are having the full legal ceremony @ Dreams Cancun. Personally I think getting married @ home first will take away some of the excitment. Although sometimes I do think about changing my mind because it would be so much easier

I love both of them, really hard to choose but I voted for No 1

Why did you choose your date?
JODEY replied to twinkletoes's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are getting married 12th November 2009, no particulare reason, we wanted to go to Mexico in November and the first date that we could have was Friday 13th !! There was no way I was getting married on ths date, I'm not really supersticious but I didn't want to chance it so its now the 12th LOL ! -
Great news ! I'm so pleased you have it sorted now ! Does this mean she can take your photos ? By the way whats AHR ?

Thanks Jilly, I think we will go with the IPOD during dinner, besides it is only for back ground music so we don't want anything too loud.

Yes me too !! I'm used to having layers in my hair and I've been growing them out the past few months, I had extentions last year and I loved them but they're so expensive and its not good to have them in too long.

I honestly cannot remember if we did the speeches after the first dances or while people were eating... I have some pictures of the garter hunt and toss I willhave to upload. The toss was funny because I chose to play the theme from the Muppet Show and J's step-brother caught the garter on the very last note of the song where there is an off-key horn. Excellent !! Sounds like you had loads of fun !! Thanks for that I was just trying to work out wether we need to hire the sound system for during the dinner as well as after, maybe we will get away with a docing station for this, thanx Paula !

Sorry to be a pain asking all these questions.... how many hours in total did you hire the music equipment for? Was it for the total time of the meal and the party after? Over here in the UK our tradition is to all sit down and have speaches first then have the meal then first dance and party !! I'd never heard of the garter toss before this website but I love the idea and think I might take on this american tradition as part of a little tribute to DW (without sounding too corny lol)

Flower dilemma...PLEASE help me decide!

I voted 3 too, I agree with the others, this way you get what you want with less expence and I totally love the parasol idea! Go for it girl ! -

I decided I wanted to send her a deposit, after I did I have peace of mind and I left her alone for a few months I paid the deposit in 2007 and I had 2007 pricing, but my wedding was early 2008. I did sign the form when I paid it, but I changed a few more things and then changed some things when we got there. When we met with her, she had to write out receipts for every item to hand into their billing department that I had to sign after we reviewed the final decisions. How did you send the money over ? did you use PAY PAL or an equivalent ? And was it Dreams that told you how much to send ?

Ooooh Now I'm confussed !! I've got a sensible side of me that says " have the cocktail hr on the garden and the reception meal either in the tower lobby or the terrace " then I have the "party girl / I don't care / I'll do what I want" side to me thats saying " go on !! ..... Its a once in a lifetime experience and thats the whole part of having a destination wedding, theres just too many choices ARRRR ! But like Paula we are paying for the wedding ourselves too and there is a considerable extra cost to having the reception on the beach ? My problem is I want everything LOL !

Hi ladies ! Did any one or is anyone having music playing during their reception meal? not for dancing in between courses just as back ground music. If so did you / are you having to hire the Dreams equipment for this too ? Did anyone have no music playing during dinner ? If so how did this work out ? I'd just like to hear some thoughts on this....
-
I klnow what you mean about the prices, I think we're just hiring Dreams equipment like what Paula did and we are going to take an I POD and some CD'S my brother is a DJ so he said he would help but I don't think it is an option for him to take any of his own equipment because of the weight and size ect... but we've got plenty of time to finalize this, hope we've helped with your decision making ?
