I like both styles, but I think the all up one would probably be the most practical with the heat especially if your hair is straight. I have stick straight hair and it barely takes a curl let alone holds one so I'm planning on putting it all up. I also expect to get hot and sweaty in the sun so if my hair was down it definitely wouldn't last very long.

I couldn't stop; I just kept on writing! I wrote the names on all of them and I HATE the way they came out. I think they look so cheap and my vision of what I wanted is completely ruined. I completely regret not paying for the calligraphy!! It was really difficult to write on these because of the curve and texture. What should I do, should I buy more?! I really don't want to spend the $$ on more, but I really think they look crappy! I think they look fine and close to the writing in your inspiration picture just a little smaller handwriting. Honestly, I don't think your guests will notice or even care if you wrote the names yourself or spent a lot of money on them. I don't think it is worth it to have them redone. I freaked out about having to put an extra purple stamp on my invitations because the post office quoted us the wrong amount when we took the sample. We ordered personalized stamps for our invites and response cards so to me it looked dump to have the extra stamp that didn't match and NO ONE even noticed the purple stamp when I asked people. We pay so much more attention to the details because it is our wedding and we want everything to be perfect, but as I have figured out no one else does. Save the money and the keep what you have as I think they look good as is.

I know they don't offer any centerpieces, and I honestly cannot fathom brining down vases, etc for the tables...I so I would really appreciate hearing what the WC says about the what the florists can do. Also, I'm going to ask my WC at the Del Mar if there is a policy about brides leaving stuff down there? For example, you have glass starfish tea-light holders, that perhaps I could split with you, and you could leave them there? That saves you having to bring them home, saves me having to bring them there, and helps with costs.......this could possibly work for other people with other things too I guess. I need them to give me some more details around center-pieces - that is starting to stress me out. Also, I asked (pleaded, begged) for a grooms room (complimentary) the night before the wedding, but they said "no go"...oh well. I saw it was somethign the Dreams brides got for free, so thought I'd give it a try. I'm working with Reyna at the Del Mar, and I have found her to be very responsive. We are using the Tropical restaurant for the dinner/reception, for the rental fee of $800 (which seemed pretty steep to me) and i wanted to do the cocktail reception at the pool bar, but she keeps trying to steer me into doing it on the outside fo the Tropical Reception (but has not been able to show me any photo's of how this works). I cannot get a feel for why they keep eding me away from the pool bar for this 1 hour reception, with 40 people and a Mariachi band.....does anyone have any thoughts on this? Or what is any of the Del Mar brides doing for a cocktail hour (while photo's are being done)? Would love to hear how it is working for you. Have a great weekend everyone!! happy Planning. I need to email the WC coordinator back about a couple things so I will ask her about leaving items. I wonder if it will be an issue since I am getting married at the Lindo? I wouldn't want the items to get lost before your wedding. I guess I could always drop the stuff off at the Del Mar after the wedding with the WC there, if they are OK with it. Do you want to ask your WC and let me know? I might be doing the suitcase trial run next weekend when I have more time. I have all the candleholders already packed in my carryon which is inside my other luggage. I was running out of room to store stuff so I had to get creative! I will take pictures of the candleholders so you can see what they look like. There are two starfish holders per package and I think they were $9.99 each. I bought 6 packages so 12 total. I also bought 12 small glass tealight holders. Also, if any of you were planning on ordering cups for your OOT bags and would be interested in splitting an order of the color changing cups there is a new thread posted. We were just going to do a general logo in black with a palm tree, starfish and Riviera Maya, Mexico. The minimum order of the cups was 250 and most of us don't need that many. Let me know if you are interested or search for the thread catandcleo posted it.

We included a travel card with our STD scroll, that had our TA's contact info and website. It was printed on cardstock and probably about the size of a postcard. You could always do something like that for your response card and you'll save money on postage!

Registry dilema!

Does anyone know how to do this? I have seen a lot of monetary registries where poeple can ask for money and even honeymoon registries. Are there any where guests can just pitch in to a certain item? Depending on where you want the furniture from you should be able to add the furniture items to your registry. There was also a site mentioned on this forum awhile back where you can merge all your registeries into one including stores that don't have registries. I can't remember what it was called though. Some registeries also have a notes section so you can always add it there that you would prefer gift cards to XYZ store to put towards a new bedroom set. -

I might go shopping with my friend today and look for them since I have my first dress fitting on Thursday. I'm in the same boat. I plan on really sticking to my diet and exercising as much as I can from now until the wedding. I'm sure any extra activity and healthy eating will show some weight loss. I really want to focus on cardio and arm work since I'm hoping that will make the most impact and I want my arms to be as toned as possible since that will be what shows the most on my wedding day. Mike and I did the City Chase Challenge in Chicago yesterday and that event just showed how out of shape I really am. Neither of us had done the event before, but we managed to complete 4 challenges. I was kind of disappointed since we needed to finish 10 so we didn't make it half way, but we chickened out of two events and the last one we found they weren't taking anymore participants. The two we chickened out on was the Semper FI which was like a boot camp. You had to do 5 pull ups - I can't even do one!- and while one of you does that the other has to do mountain climbers until you finish (mind you this is all in the sand!). I can't remember all the things, but they threw a rifle at you and you had to run out in the water, and then come back and do the army crawl holding the rifle in the sand. And I think the last part was you each had to drag your partner for a certain distance in the sand. I have a big FI so that would have been tough. WHile you are doing all these things they are in your face yelling at you. No thanks! The other one was at Lucky Strike bowing alley where I guess you bowled until you got a strike, but for every turn you didn't get one you had to remove an article of clothing! NOw I can barely stand to see myself naked and didn't want to do BD pics for Mike so there was no way in hell I was playing naked bowling in front of a room full of strangers. The crappy part was it took us so long to get to these places that we wasted so much time and then we didn't do the events. We ended up walking everywhere because some of the buses weren't running or we just didn't know which ones to take. I swear we must have walked over 10 miles. I literally have blisters on both my heels and every toe on my feet. My legs hurt so bad as well as the rest of my body. We finally gave up the running to and from the events and just walked. We knew we weren't going to win so we just had fun with it. Plus it was so hot and humid that we didn't want to overdo it. Quote: Originally Posted by tvt I'm so with you on this!! My friend and I are doing this together so we have about 60 days to raise close to $4000. We have already did a bowling fundraiser, an event at a dueling piano bar with a silent auction and 50/50 raffle, and sent out emails/letters to our friends, family, and coworkers. We also worked a few Tigers games in the concession stands in their non profit program. I am getting worried that we may not be able to raise the money. I know we need to have another event to raise this money but Im running out of ideas. Im worried that we have exhausted our resources at this point to. Im not sure if we can get anyone to attend an event. We had a big golf tournament planned which was going to be a big part of our fundraising but due to lack of participants we had to cancel. This is my fourth year fundraising and it just is so hard with the economy the way it is this year. So I was wondering if anyone here has any tips for fundraising? Any great events that have worked for them? We are thinking we may try to do a spaghetti dinner, but will need things to do at the dinner to raise more money. Thanks! Like one of the previous posters said you could get local establishments to donate prizes and charge people for the raffle tickets to raise money. My cousin also makes jewelry and she makes a breast cancer bracelet that she sells for $30 and sends the profit to the breast cancer foundation.

Attempted Kidnapping at El Squid Roe

It turned into a brawl with even the bridesmaids slugging it out with the kidnappers. They successfully fought off the kidnappers, but oddly the Mexican police jailed one of the groomsmen for being under the influence of drugs - injected by a kidnapper. It sounds like a very nasty encounter! Any Cabo locals see anything in the news about this? I'm hearing kidnapping is becoming a real problem in Mexico, but this is going a bit far! Wow! That is scary! -

My dad has a new wife (yes - wife #3) and she is kind of insecure about the step kids so my dad has always stood away. When the step kids have seen her, they are always overly nice to her to make her feel comfortable, but it is still awkward. What should I do? I am thinking of just keeping my little secret all to myself. I think you have to tell him only because he might find out on his own eventually and he might be more upset that you didn't tell him than he will be if you tell him.

I had registered for that, and my FI told me to take it off. We ended up registering for a regular coffee maker. We have a cheap one now that we never use so I figured I would get more use out of the single serve one. Oh well! We ended up getting 2 boxes of stuff from my FSIL. She went overboard with the gifts, but I am so happy she did! We got the kitchenaid mixer, Cuisinart stick blender and hand mixer and a set of cookie cutters. She knows I love to bake so she wanted to make sure I had all the necessities! I was so excited! Our shower is in two weeks and I can't wait to see what else we get.

I agree with everyone else on the flashing ads. I understand why they are there, but the flashing is very distracting. -
