  1. Wow - what drama. Glad its worked out. We did our symbolic ceremony in the DR and while we did have a minister officiate, our WC read the translation. But, while we were supposed to sign a non-binding certificate, we were never asked to, which is a bummer, but oh well. We were legally married before we left.
  2. Jeni - Your pics look AWESOME! You should be ssoo ecstatic over them! You look beautiful in red lipstick too, FYI! And I love all the different outfits. The go-go look is fun and the sexy pics are HOT!
  3. Just don't put them in your carry-on luggage and you will be fine.
  4. Megan, your dress is beautiful. I had an unconventional bustle so that you could still see the design on my dress ... but I don't know how to explain it or what its called. I will try to find some of my pics that show it. I know I posted them ages ago...
  5. Viviana was my WC at PPC back when we were married - she moved to PPR shortly after our wedding. I was lucky to work with Viviana on charges and in person at the resort ... and I had brought copies of each and every email correspondence between us. Once we arrived at PPC and sat down to go over and pay for the wedding ... the charges Viviana had prepared for us included a bill for $8000+ ... when our email correspondence included charges of about $3000. Since I had the copies of the emails, Viviana honored the emailed prices ... and I had on numeorus occassions in those emails asked if there were any additional charges - and told no, which certainly helped our cause. We were ready to cancel the ceremony and everything based on the difference in prices, which is why I think she backed down and honored the emails. But, we also had not had to put down a deposit for any of our wedding ceremony of reception prior to arriving. Stand strong and don't let them screw you. Read my review of Viviana in my siggy thread for more info...
  6. I am pretty sure all of the the AI's have casinos. We never even stepped foot into the one at PPC - and only had one couple who even went there. We went into the one at PPR but didn't play anything. They are small and easy to avoid. You won't even know they are there unless you seek them out. I would definitely NOT be concerned about having a casino at the resort unless you have a family member panning to come who may have a gambling problem. If that's the case, you may need to look at non-AI's if Punta Cana is your destination of choice. Good Luck!!!
  7. I think I am just now seeing this review and just want to say that your wedding looked absolutely breathtaking. You were a truly stunning bride and it looks as though it was a dream wedding! CONGRATS!!!
  8. Love that hottie black dress. Too bad my fat ass wouldn't fit in it. Very sexy!!!
  9. I was just searching the VBplaza trying to see where to "buy" my banner - than thought "a-ha - why don't I check out the 'how-to' thread" and Viola! Now I am anxiously awaiting my banner. Very cool.
  10. A TA will be able to give you last years rates, and a better idea of this years rates. A TA will also ensure that you don't book at a resort until you know the rates and that your preferred wedding date is available.
  11. Congrats and WELCOME to BDW! Best of luck planning. This forum is a godsend and will help to make your DW just PERFECT!
  12. That's great! One (well, really TWO) more things to cross off your "to do" list!
  13. Are you just checking online? A lot of the resorts do have conventions and conferences, which take up a lot of rooms - but I would suggest you use a TA ... b/c they can work directly with the resort to let them know your preferred dates and expected # of rooms and work from there to find dates that will work and block off the rooms. Otherwise, you run the risk of the resort selling out now or down the road before all of your guests are booked. Having a TA who is abe to have the resort block off a certain # of rooms is your best bet. And you also have to make sure, once you pick a resort that has availability ... that the judge/minister is available as well to perform the ceremony.
  14. Welcome, congrats and happy planning!
  15. Yay Kat sounds like it will be an extra special birthday with Fathers Day rolled in as well!
  16. Congrats and welcome! Can't wait to see your DW plans come together! I LOVED our Punta Cana wedding and know yours will be perfect too!!!
  17. Thanks for this post Jac. Our indoor kitty got fixed and got her shots when she was borrn, but she will be 3 this year and I have not kept her up-to-date on her shots. We also inherited an outdoor cat about a year ago - and have not yet taken her to the vet, so we don't even know how old she is. I finally got 2 cat carriers, so they will be going to a mobile pet med for theit shots next Saturday ... and I got 2 free vet exam coupons at PetSmart when I bought their flea & tick treatments a few weeks ao, so after they have their shots, I am going to set up their vet appts. Your post reminded me of how necessary all this really is. Hugs to Cody...
  18. I hope everything is ok with her - but that is so sad about no BD pics for you. And with regard to the deposit - it sure sounds like you have been exceptionally patient and understanding. I wonder if she is just not good at managing her finances?
  19. Great to see ya on here, kpuckrin! I know what you mean about getting used to them being away. I am used to it (and my Dad was always out of town for work as well, so I even grew up being used to it). I can't imagine being so far away from him and in different time zones for so long. I've done the long-distance dating thing before ... but it never lasted for me ... so I know that is tough. How great that you guys are in the same place now, though. Is he helping you much with the wedding plans? My DH was in Iraq while I planned ... so I would email him options as we decided on our resort and such ... but other than that, I pretty much handled it on my own unless I was having a tough time making a decision. And of course, for the GM outfits, I sent him pics of lots of options and let him pick! He was basically happy to not have to be involved, lol, but was smitten with all the DIY planning I got from BDW!
  20. Beautiful, Star! Your dress looks amazing on you. I love it. And it looks like a perfect day!!!
  21. Oh, great thread. I hadn't thought anything about this until now - but we have ALL hardwoods right now and when we move next month the entire first floor will be hardwood and marble tile. I think this will definitely be an investment worth making now! YAY!
