I am just going with the free package as well, but will upgrade certain things.. for example, I am not a huge fan of the "Free" decoration of the beach gazebo so I will be upgrading the decorations, possibly getting an aisle runner and floral aisle markers. I MAY upgrade the flower bouquet, but I dont mind the free one... so we'll see! It's pretty much customizable to whatever you'd like so I think the free package is good unless you really love what the other packages have to offer!

ROR - how to best hand out my guest's favours...?

So I think it will be more fair for everyone for us to just hand out at once when we are there. But I am glad this works for you, it would be way simpler than what I have to do! One thing to keep in mind with the sunscreen - I dont think they will let that ON the plane in carry-on since it classifies as a liquid/gel, so your guests will have to put it in their checked baggage. -
I am fairly certain you can customize the package whichever way you like! They'll just charge you for the difference of course... LOL!

I am hoping to be able to reserve a table for 40 at St Ann's Buffet and we can all just meet there for breakfast the morning after everyone arrives! I emailed Chandlyn to see if it can be done! -

Sorry, I'm not getting married there, but I AM honeymooning there - the week of Feb 17th! What day is your wedding and when do you leave? I can certainly take some pics for you! We're going for two weeks and the first week we will be getting married at the Riu Ocho Rios. I can tell you that most all-inclusive places WILL charge for a "private" dinner and this is because they have to close the area to other guests and the staff are working just for YOU and your guests, so you are essentially helping to pay for the staff... sorry cant be much more help then that, but try the Jamaica section where there are other Sandals brides!

Those are awesome! I love the idea!! How do you find out all your girls ring size?

My brain is starting to go a little crazy with "TO DO'S" now that I am ONE month away from being on a plane to Jamaica!! I also have to start planning for the AHR we want to have in April. I am going to do up my own invitations, I am wondering if I could see YOURS and how you worded yours if you have done them! Thanks ever so much my fabulous BDWers!
-
I think for AHR's anything can go, really! If you want a more casual dinner type party, go for it! There are no rules, that's the beauty of it!! hee hee, that being said, I am planning along the more traditional lines for ours, but it will still be casual and fun. We've booked a small hall, and we're doing just a cold buffet. I am thinking it will start around 7 PM, people will arrive and we will greet them with Champagne and/or Red Stripe beer. The whole thing will be themed Jamaican with beachy favours on the tables, tropical flowers and decorations. I will wear my dress because I want to! The bridesmaids can wear their dresses if they want to, I will ask them and see what they prefer. We rented DJ equipment and will have a friend run it, and the plan is to just dance and have fun. Oh yeah, we will show a DVD of the wedding and a wedding slideshow of photos at some point in the evening as well. Still going to work out all the "whens" and "hows". But seriously, do whatever YOU want!!

My advice would be to read reviews on Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor. I know the Gran Bahia Principe had a rough start up, but I think it will be a nice resort once they work out their opening kinks, and I've seen a picture of the gazebo on the ocean they use for weddings and it is STUNNING! My future parents in-law did go there on a great sale about 6 months ago and they said they enjoyed it but it didnt have much of a beach, the beach was all carted in and very rocky... but that was a while ago so things could have improved... and I dont know anything about the Iberostar, sorry! But I would consider ROR or the Rius in Negril too!

Jamaica - weather question

Hi ladies! I have been struggling with this one for a while... I have little gift bags for my guests that will contain a travel mug, aloe vera gel, SPF chapstick, paper fan, travel shampoo, and a fun straw. Our guests are split into two main travel groups, one coming from Eastern Canada and arriving at the resort in the afternoon, and the flight we will be on from Western Canada wont arrive at the resort until late evening on the same day Saturday. I wont have the bags put together yet, will do that when we arrive. I am trying to figure out the best way to get everyone their gifts? I want everyone to enjoy the mugs fairly soon! I am now thinking maybe I can get a big reservation at the buffet restaurant for breakfast the next day, let everyone know beforehand about the plan, and give out the gift bags then? Do you think that will work? I am thinking around 10 AM. I am not sure if the tour companies do any sort of orientation or anything that will interfere, does anyone have advice? Thanks!!!

DJ & Photog at the ROR - payment terms...
jmhein replied to chicago88's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
That's awesome, I was wondering about that! I also asked Michael if he would accept Traveller's cheques and he said OK (no extra fee!) -
This may be a dumb question, but where is MAC makeup sold? Do they have their own stores? I live in a small-ish city, and we just have the standard dept and drug stores... I will probably have to buy online I think.

Congrats! Everything looked beautiful!!

They're both beautiful choices but I voted #1, I think I tried this one on and absolutely loved the sparkly lace overlay! -
Groomsmen Attire - question
jmhein replied to AlmostMrsForbes's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think that would look really great, but I do wonder what the guys would think about wearing dark sport coats in the hot sun... I dont think MY grooomsmen would go for it... but you could try! What about navy short sleeved button ups? -
That's really fascinating! I really want to try this out! I wonder if she can help me prepare my cat for the upcoming two weeks we'll be in Jamaica for the wedding and help me reassure kitty we will be back and we love her!? (My cat gets soooo mad when we go away for more than a few days, she won't speak to me for a day and then gets OVERLY clingy once we're back).... So, do you put the cat and dog on the phone or does she just "psychically" talk to them?

I've looked into first class as well but the crappy thing about RIU resorts is they are exclusive to Sunquest in Canada, and Sunquest does not HAVE first class seats on the plane. boo hoo hoooooooo
