  1. Update! I picked out a mug from discountmugs.com and ordered them, they arrived today! I am very happy with them, they are SO nice! I did the tumbler style so it would take up slightly less room in the luggage. My plan was to put an SPF chap stick, and aloe vera gel inside the mugs and give them to everyone, but the aloe vera gel is too tall! SO NOW.... I think I might buy some small gift bags to put everything in because I also bought everyone a paper fan and bubbles! Anyway, discountmugs.com was great! And I did great with the CDN Exchange rate, but Customs did ding me $84 when they got here, grrrrrrr.
  2. Absolutely gorgeous Mo! Are those real flowers in your hair? Did the Riu salon provide them? I loved everything! I am ALSO getting married at the gazebo and having aqua blue bridesmaid dresses!
  3. CONGRATULATIONS!!! And welcome back! Your pictures are GORGEOUS! Did the resort photog take them? I love the group one taken from above, how did they do that? Love your dress, your colours, everything looked awesome! Glad you had a great time!

We did not set up an appointment but we did meet him 2 days prior to our wedding. He was finished with a wedding and when he walked away we went over and introduced ourselves. It was very nice meeting him prior!! 2. We did not write our own vows, we just wanted the "religious" ceremony, but we wanted him to finish with " I now pronounce you man and wife in this no problem island of Jamaica, mon" Chandlyn said he does say that, but she still wrote it down to just make sure, she did ask if there was anything special we wanted him to say. 3. Yes, you can add readings just tell her at your meeting. We did write our own sand ceremony vows, and Reverend Anderson read them, It was really beautiful!! If anyone knows how or where I could upload a short video that I have from the wedding let me know and I will post a link. I was thinking maybe you tube?? Hope this info helps..... VERY helpful Jerzzygirl! Thanks! I hope we get to see your video, that would be great!!! I think UTube would work but maybe some other girls would have more insight...
  7. Great to hear you loved it Mo!! I soooo can't wait to see all your pics! Last weekend I booked the appointments for myself and my three bridesmaids. It was really easy and efficient! And I got a great exchange rate for my CDN $ too! So I'm glad I did it, one more thing checked off the list!
  8. Yay! So glad to hear your day was beautiful Mo! Now enjoy the rest of your vacation and once you're back give us all the details!!!
  9. So glad you're there and having a blast!! Is it beautiful? I am so jealous right now! Enjoy every second!!

I just did up a wedding website with all the details and my travel agent provided us with an online booking website as well, so I linked my website to that, and sent it out to all our friends and family, about 10 months in advance of the wedding date. It's worked really well and saved a ton of $ on STDs and Invitations! My family and friends are all very internet-savvy though, so it probably wouldnt work if you had guests who aren't as comfortable with the net.
  13. How exciting!!! Have a beautiful, wonderful wedding Mo!! And be sure to come back here with a full report!
  14. Be sure to add your date to this thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...r-wedding.html
  15. It's so great to hear that you got engaged there and loved it so much that you're choosing to get married there as well! That's fabulous news for me who's never been there but obsessively check the reviews on Trip Advisor almost daily!! So what are your plans so far? How many guests are going with you? Which location did you choose for your ceremony?
  16. Just wanting to know what all the rest of you are doing...? I should probably book soon if I am going to....
  17. WELCOME!!! I am another Riu Ocho Rios bride! There are about 30 of us on here I think so you've come to the right place! You will find everything you want to know!
  18. Wow!!! Those are awesome Julie! It looks like you all had SO much fun! Your flowergirls are so adorable! CONGRATULATIONS!!
  19. Wow, everything looks great!! Your guests must have been so impressed! How was your wedding??
  20. Hi ladies! Sorry if this is posted somewhere already. I am wondering if any of you ROR brides have already made your hair appts at the Renova Spa for your wedding day hair if that is where you are planning on getting your hair done? I had emailed the spa about making an appt and they require a 50% deposit in advance online through Pay Pal... this seems kind of unnecessary, doesn't it? I mean, I do plan on getting my hair done there but I dont understand the need to pay half of it up front in advance, I am always a little leery of doing these things... what are the rest of you doing? Thoughts? I also dont want to risk NOT making an appointment and then not getting a hair appointment on my wedding day!

Does anyone know how many full suites they have? Is there only one?
  22. I love that dress! Lucky girl, cant wait to see the pics of you when it arrives!!

The food would be pretty doable too, coconut shrimp and jerk chicken... For decorations, you could just get tons of those big palm-type leaves that florist use for greenery, that would look cool. You could do lots with the bright carribean colours too. I think it would be super cool to extend the whole Jamaica trip into the AHR, especially in the middle of a Northern Alberta winter. Perfect! Happy planning, Nancy Hey neighbour! Awesome ideas! Thanks so much! You want to come up for the party? hee hee!
