I am so glad I found this thread as I've really been looking for some hair inspiration! I found some great pics on here, thanks very much ladies! Ann, you hair was beautiful, I really liked how it looked with your veil! I am still so undecided what I'm going to do... I think a soft updo would be nice, no clue yet if I'll have a veil... I really like the look/idea of just flowers in my hair but I also want to look like a bride and nothing says bride like a veil! Please keep posting the hair pics ladies! I will try to find some too!! -
Great pictures! The beach and the ocean look soooo beautiful!! Tell us more!! Would love to see more pictures!

I am getting married at the ROR February 12, 2008!! Welcome to BDW, the ladies here are full of wonderful info and so helpful!!
-
Wow, MomentUs it is so great to have you here! Thank you so much for being so willing to answer all of our many questions! I just have a few for now... I noticed during your ceremony you had microphones to speak into.. is this something provided to all of the ceremonies or was it something you had to arrange because of your large group? I was thinking that might be nice to have so everyone can hear!! Non-wedding related: How was the resort in general? How was the food? Did all of your guests give the resort and the service two thumbs up? I just want everyone to have a great time and I want them to love it! Thanks so much!

"Just Married" Flip Flops

Is anyone getting the cute "Just Married" Flip flops that leave "Just Married" imprints in the sand? I want to get some for me and my FI, I think they will make some cute photos! However, I have a dilemma! I want to wear flip flops down the aisle for the ceremony, but I can't wear the "Just Married" ones because we won't be Just Married yet! So then do I change into the Just Married ones right after? Anyone else having similar thoughts or am I just crazy? hee hee. I also want to change into some dancing shoes for the reception so does this mean I need three pairs of shoes for my wedding day?

Bridesmaids dresses
jmhein replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Great dress picks everyone! My MOH will be wearing this dress (ha ha, the pic is ME taking a photo of myself in the dressing room when I first found them). She will have a 2 month old baby by the time the wedding happens so the gathering on the tummy was a little more forgiving: And my 2 bridesmaid's will be in the halter style: And the groomsmen will be wearing this shirt and white linen pants: -
Transfers and Tours Contact: Ochi/Mo-Bay/Negril

Yes, thank you, that could come in handy! Any idea what his rates might be, say between MB and Ocho Rios, and between MB and Negril? -
Riu wedding requirments and Docs
jmhein replied to Jerzzygirl's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
I think when I send them I will send them registered mail or something so that they have to sign for them and I will KNOW they made it there... this part makes me nervous! If this part goes wrong, NO wedding! -

Hey Chicago! Cool, maybe we'll see you there! We will be there from Feb 9th - 16th I believe! You can definitely wait until you sit down with Chandlyn to choose everything, I think that's the way she likes to do things actually! I can't answer you about the Plantation as I have no idea either! I think after your rehearsal just go to one of the bars and hang out!

Sorry, don't remember where I read that and just going from fuzzy memory! Maybe email Chandlyn this one! -
I like the beach gazebo but I'm biased because I chose it for my wedding location! I'm going with these decorations:

I'm using the resort photographer too... at first I wasn't thrilled with his quality of work, but I recently contacted him asking for a price list and he sent me some newer photos and I think he's really improved!! Check these out: I know there are photographers capable of much more artistic and beautiful shots, but I think I will be happy with these! All my guests will take a TON of photos also! I have more photos than this if anyone wants me to email them?? -
Hi ladies! Whew I just got through reading ALLLLL the posts in this thread and found a LOT of helpful information, so thank you all very much!! Mo - you are EXTREMELY organized and have thought of every detail! And you're getting married on my birthday! What a great day! Well I have been planning my Riu Ocho Rios wedding since March when I finalized the quotes for the trip! I recently "re-found" this forum thanks to Lizz on the brides.com forum! We currently have 40 people joining us in Jamaica for our wedding! We are in Canada and my FI is from the East coast whereas I live in Alberta and have family all over Western Canada. So his family is leaving from an Eastern departure city (probably Halifax, maybe Fredericton), we're leaving from Calgary, some of my family members are leaving from Vancouver, and I have one relative flying in from the US and one from Europe! Craziness! The coordination of the flights has been my major headache, as the Riu Ocho Rios is exclusive to only one Canadian tour provider, Sunquest, and they canceled the flight for our Eastern guests for the original week that I wanted!! GRRR! So I moved everything to the following week. That was not fun. But anyway, we are settled and happy with our Feb 12th wedding date. Most guests are pleased they will be there over the Valentine's Day week so they can have a romantic vacation away. It worked out well and I am getting very excited!! We went with just the basic package and are adding on extras. My ceremony is at 4PM at the beach gazebo, and I love the blue upgraded decorations Chandlyn sent me, so I am upgrading: The steel band will play for our ceremony. We are going with the free semi-private dinner at Mammee Bay, and have booked the disco from 9 to 11. And that's pretty much all I have figured! I am going to do travel mugs as favours and fill them with an aloe vera gel, SPF lip balm, and something else which I havent decided yet, but it will probably have to be small. I am not sure how to give these out but I will have to give them out THERE since so many people are traveling on different flights and we are all meeting up there. I have my bridesmaids dresses already, the groomsmen outfits are almost done, my honey has his outfit already, and I just bought my dress! So YAY! What else am I forgetting? I feel like there's still so much more to be done!

I am listening to the Jamaican radio station online as well, and it's making me feel a lot better! Everyone sounds in good spirits and it would seem the island got through the hurricane in the best manner possible! Also in the Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor forums there are a ton of posts you can read from people ON the island giving updates... it sounds like the northern areas where Mo Bay and Ocho Rios are really got through everything OK! (Fingers crossed...) Negril is getting the last of the storm now.... Here's the link to the radio station, I love listening to their lovely accents! The Weather Radio Broadcast Network "Where Weather Radio Just Got Better"!

Just Married at Sandal's Dunns River Resort
jmhein replied to Lori's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Congratulations!! It sounds like the wedding and everything else was gorgeous! Can't wait to see the pictures! -
I'm really worried about the hurricane too and my wedding is still 6 months away, so I totally feel for you ladies with upcoming weddings!! Let's just pray that the damage won't be that bad, and pray for the safety of everyone down there right now... at this point that's all we can do... the latest I am reading is it will be a Cat 5 when it hits Jamaica.. I feel so terrible and worried!!
