  1. We haven't sent a thank you for booking, but perhaps we will put that in our invite pocketfold. We are still sending proper invites so trying to limit all thats sent!
  2. We are doing a pocketfold, so in the middle is the invite with regular writing and then on the right pocketfold is booking information, at home reception info, rsvp info and I am still contemplating a "wedding week rough outline" insert. I found the idea on pinterest. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/417427459185574030/ Another idea I saw was " With our toes in the sand and a drink in hand, we ask you to come celebrate the marriage of......." We have some people invited to the reception at home but not mexico (extended family etc.) , so we will do a casual I DO BBQ invite for them.
  3. I bought my online and will just make the necessary alterations to it. Sometimes it is so much cheaper online that its worth it to pay the alterations.
  4. I told my Mom and my MOH that I didn't need a bridal shower, but my MOH's response was..if people want to throw you one, you can't tell them no. So essentially if one gets thrown I will put a smile on my face as I know some people will not be able to come to the wedding in Mexico but will want to celebrate with me.
  5. I was struggling with people complaining about the price as it went up as the price was only for the first 30. My FI aunt gave me some good advice yesterday and just said..Focus on your wedding day. Those of that want to get there, will get there one way or another. I really took that to heart, and honestly our "must comes" are already booked, so anyone else is just icing on the cake.
  6. We will be getting email addresses for RSVP's so I figure we will email out a brochure ahead of time but also include a printed one in their welcome bags.
  7. We are going to do speeches and dances but no bouquet/garter toss. I do like the idea of doing the shoe game or something fun like that. We are going to do a slideshow at our at home reception that will include some mexico shots as well as beer pong as it will be a very casual backyard bbq.
  8. I don't even think it is so much about if anything happens the night of the wedding, but the next morning to just have some downtown and be able to just be with your hubby. Otherwise I would just make a rule that you dont want to be disturbed the next morning to just get some down time because the wedding day will be exhausting.
  9. @@cfinkenbine I think it is a wise decision to go with the outside photographer based on what I saw when I was there.
  10. @@palmtree99 I am skipping the DJ and just brining an ipod. Ours too is only 3 hours long and part of that includes dinner. I will be doing separate playlists: ceremony, background dinner music, first dances and then dance party. There are plenty of DJ apps etc, so I am sure you create your playlist ahead of time and have all the songs lead into the other. We have a buddy who likes to make playlists this way, so we will give him a list of songs and have him put it together.
  11. I agree with all the above as it does depend on if you are losing weight and the type of dress you have. I am fortunate as my MIL is a seamstress and she will be doing my alterations about a month before the wedding.

    Hand Fans

I was thinking I would have my bridesmaids carry fans instead of flowers. But then I was also thinking of doing program fans for the guests. I really haven't decided yet.
  13. I have flown with Sunwing 6 times and never really had an issue other than a 20 min delay. We are using them for our wedding!
  14. I definitely will be doing the tanning bed before going. I tend to get heat rash if I dont do it before going to mexico. Last thing I need is blotchy rashy skin!
  15. I got my eyelashes tinted when I went to Europe last year as I didn't want to deal with mascara in humid heat and it was sooo worth it! Just adds a little something, especially when there will be plenty of photos taken
  16. I have never even heard of veil weights, but I feel this is something I will have to look into and let my MIL know.
  17. Honestly I just started waxing below the waist this summer and it definitely was not near as bad as I thought it would be. I have now continued to because it is just easier! I have even gotten a few friends to do it now! As for my nails, I think I will be doing Shellac French on my hands and color on my toes. I haven't decided if i will shellac on my toes, or just have them do my own color that I bring with me to do touch ups if necessary.
  18. Congratulations! I would definitely suggest finding a travel agent as they are very helpful! I would also say start a new email address account for all wedding related stuff! It then doesnt bombard your regular account!
  19. We are bringing our own ipod for both the ceremony and the reception. We aren't adding any time to our reception as we figure we will all move to the lobby bar then to Jaguars Disco for more dancing for those who want to. Out of all the beaches I would say Playa Azul and Captain Morgan have the best sand. Playa Azul is definitely the most private but Captain Morgan is at least more secluded from Colonial, Tropical and Palace. There is a peninsula that separates the beaches of those 3 and the beaches of Beach and Caribe (where Capt Mo is). Coco Bar is at the Palace and is quite a large area which is nice and at night when the pool is all lit up, it is very neat. I would definitely look at handing out your own bags etc, as the costs add up. The hotel will be able to give you a list of all the rooms, or have a night where everyone meets at the lobby bar!
  20. May 21, 2015 Barcelo Maya Beach!
  21. I think it will fully depend on how you do your hair, what will suit it and what suits you! Have you started looking at hairstyles? I know I will do an updo for sure as my hair doesnt hold curl that well, especially in wind. Dealing with the veil will be enough, so I'll keep the hair off my face and neck!
  22. Photos are one thing that you take with you and that's why we are hiring an outside photographer (Octavio Montes www.octaviomontes.com) instead of the resort photographer! We were fortunate to meet with the resort photographer and another one and just from personalities alone, we are very happy to pay the outside vendor fee. He even has a deal for 10% off! He does Playa del Carmen, Cancun and Rivieria Maya.
  23. My FI doesn't want to see me until I am walking down the aisle, and I am totally okay with that. The nice thing about a destination wedding is that between the ceremony and reception people can go to lobby bar, or back in the pool if they want! So many options. There isnt the same pressure to keep everyone entertained.
  24. We are getting married May 21, 2015 and having the AHR on June 6, 2015. My FI wanted to have everything close, and because we are doing a super casual AHR in my parents backyard, it shouldn't be too bad.
