  1. I am going to try that weddingdj app also....if I can save by cutting out the dj cost that would be great.
  2. Biting the bullet and paying for it ourselves also.
  3. Many resorts offer a room for the groom. We live together but I don't want him to see me until I walk down the isle. Can't believe I want to do that as I normally don't do traditional.
  4. Great input...I was thinking of paying for guest passes. I am hoping everyone stays at the resort I pick.
  5. Great ideas.....my FI is not into spending a lot of money so I am also cutting back on some things. He doesn't feel we need to have all the decorations so I am doing a lot of DIY things to save on them. The resort prices are really expensive and it adds up really fast. I have a spreadsheet with all the totals for each resort I was considering. I am trying to keep the budget to $10k.
  6. Really helpful....I hadn't thought about the tips! Putting this on my things to remember list.
  7. I went to a wedding in Cancun last year and she didn't do the OOT bags. However, she did favors - pictures, picture frames, candles, maracas. Since I am getting married in Jamaica, I was thinking of doing miniature bottles of Appleton Rum, mini bags of blue mountain coffee and key chains.
  8. We didn't do official engagement pictures so to speak......my FI proposed in Cancun last year, while we were at a wedding there. That resort offered resort credits and we used some of the resort credits for a photo shoot. It was really nice to have some memories of our trip there since that is where he proposed.
  9. @@malyna....I have been on tripadvisor. Secrets is ranked higher but Royalton White Sands is getting great reviews also. Royalton was a different property and it was bought out and renovated. It just re-opened Nov 2013. I really like the wedding location at the Royalton...however, I have done a cost comparison and the actual wedding cost is a bit cheaper at Secrets. To save money, I will probably choose Secrets but I want to see both resorts to be sure. June 6th can't get here soon enough.
  10. I want the tropical setting however, I am not getting married on the beach. Both of my resort choices (Secrets and Royalton White Sands) have the option to get married in other locations which fits my vision and I can wear shoes.
  11. I am not doing a veil....possible birdcage but that will blow also with the winds.
  12. I have two dresses....I actually bought my reception dress before my wedding gown. But now I like my wedding gown so much not sure I am changing. Decisions, decisions....
  13. Thanks for the review......really helpful. Glad it was a success!
