  1. I noticed the same...20 guests included, cost for each additional. It is costly when it is an all-inclusive and the guests are already staying there. I guess everyone has to make some money.
  2. Paying for our own as well....this is my second wedding and my FI's first. We are a bit older and he suggested the DW. I am so happy he did.
  3. Montego Bay October 2015....haven't decided on venue yet. My FI proposed July 28, 2013 at Moon Palace resort in Cancun. We were there to attend a friends wedding...so it was an extra special trip.
  4. I actually decided to do a DW because I knew it would limit the # of people attending. My FI and I both have big families and to have a wedding at home, we would have had over 200 guests. We just can't afford a wedding that big. So DW it is!
  5. I went on site visit to Iberostar in Jamaica Oct. 2013. Loved the resort. But I like the grand for reception and the suites for ceremony....but you have to have everything at one hotel or the other.
  6. I am also concerned about resorts booking up and not have rooms for guests. I have been watching Royalton White Sands and they are booked for dates in 2015. I am going on a site visit there in June and that will be my first question is the availability of rooms.
  7. Very true!!! It brought balance to all the issues surrounding planning a wedding and why we are getting married!
  8. Thinking of having a reggae band during reception....not sure of cost yet but we shall see.
  9. I am still overwhelmed...lol! However, the women on this site have been a tremendous help with all of their useful information. My FI decided on the location of Jamaica...so now it is up to me to decide which resort. However, reading the reviews and timelines on this site has helped a lot. I also have utilized tripadvisor for reviews on the resorts.
  10. I have a tentative date of October 10, 2015 but I haven't chosen a venue....it's between Secrets and Royalton White Sands. I am doing a site visit in June...hoping to make a decision and book a venue.
  11. Congrats!!! As the other ladies have said...you will find a wealth of information on this site. Look at the resort reviews and at tripadvisor. Those will help you to narrow down the resorts that will fit your vison and needs. Good Luck and happy planning!
  12. Getting married in Jamaica is my FI idea and I couldn't be happier. I went to Jamaica for the first time in October 2013 and I fell in love with the island. Can't wait to decide which resort.
  13. I did a site visit to Secrets in Oct 2013....I loved the resort. I am going back to Jamaica in June to go to another resort but I am hoping I can schedule some time at Secrets again.
  14. @@skelly0386...I did a site visit to Iberostar Grand and Rose Hall. Very nice accommodations. My issue was I like the wedding location Rose Hall and the reception location at Grand....however, you can't switch up. You have to do both the ceremony and the reception at the same hotel. So I am now looking at Secrets and Royalton White Sands because based on the pics I like there ceremony and reception locations better. I am going on another site visit June 6th so I will post pictures.
  15. @@pamelas21.....I am considering doing a villa also, however, I did book my stay at Royalton White Sands. The issue I found is that RWS is very popular and many people are booking it. I am concerned that they won't have rooms available when my guests start booking later this year. My other problem is my mom and dad don't want to fly.....they have asked if we would consider getting married on a cruise because they would drive to the port. (That wasn't in my vision for my big day). So now I am as confused and torn as to what to do!!! Talk about stress!
