  1. I'm getting married at the Riu Negril through Sunwing and because we have more than 40ppl booked we're getting 2 free trips. Also the Riu has a free wedding package so all we have to pay for is our private reception. I was really happy with how the pricing worked out!
  2. 30 mins treadmill, 30 min upper body strength training
  3. The Book of Negroes is a great book!!! I just finished reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and will be reading the next one in the series. I just got a Kobo eReader today and I'm so excited to use it!!!
  4. Got the Kobo eReader today for my birthday!!!!
  5. I wish FI didn't have to work such long hours...he works part time and is in school full time. I know it's helping with us financially, but I am starting to miss spending time with him
  6. What a great way to deal with that issue...I'm sure they loved that! Â
  7. We're not having any...never really liked the idea of bridesmaids! We're having a MOH and bestman, mainly just to act as our witnesses and they're friends that are coming to the wedding anyway. I also decided that my niece and nephew will be flower girl and 'ring bearer', they're coming to the wedding and I really wanted them involved!
  8. I'm having on bachelorette party in Nov and another with family in Dec, and my shower's in Nov. It's a difficult time of year because of xmas!
  9. It's definitely that time of year, Feb is peak season that's why I chose the beginning of January. We're going Jan 5-12 and it's only $1416/person (taxes included), I thought that was a great deal!
  10. It really hit me how close the wedding is when my mom, sister and I were discussing my bachelorette party and shower. I've had to pick the dates already so it's really starting to feel real. The only thing I have to do in the next month is order our travel mugs and try on my dress, everything else is pretty much taken care off. I'm not going overboard with things so I've kept it pretty minimal...just want to be on vacation in Jamaica!!!!
  11. I need to find a seamstress too. I bought my dress at the Dress Room but they're alterations start at about $300! If I don't find someone reasonale here I might just go to my home town...smaller and invariably cheaper!
  12. How's everyone's planning coming along? I feel like I don't really have to do anything right now and it feels good! My dress came in this week so I have to go in and try it on...very exciting
  13. If you're set on Jamaica, I was able to get a really good price for the Riu Negril. We're leaving January 5 and our guests are paying $1416/each out of Toronto, and it's a 5 star resort. Maybe you just need to find a new TA that will find the right price for you.
  14. Thanks so much for the review, sounds like you had a wonderful time! I'm getting married there in January so hearing the reviews is always a good thing. Your pics are great. Congratulations!!!
  15. Thanks for this advice. One thing that has been in the back of my mind is how I"m going to get around and spend time with everyone. Did you find you would just run into people at the beach/pool or at the dinner buffett? I don't want to plan too much for our guests so I'm leaving everything open (aside from a welcome dinner). I was just telling FI that I think it's going to be a very busy week for us, just because we want to spend time with everyone there and we're expecting 80 people...we'll just have to make sure we stretch ourselves i guess! I do like the idea of always being at the same place in the evening, I'll have to do that, find a central bar and tell everyone that's where we'll be after dinner.
  16. Your situation does suck but if your friends are procrastinators, or feel that they can get a better deal last minute (like some of mine) then they probably are waiting to book and you may see an influx of bookings when your wedding is only a few weeks away. I know it's not an ideal situation for a bride but it is part of a DW. Hopefully the situation works out for you. Just remember why you chose a DW and keep your 'eye on the prize'! LOL!
  17. I went to a wedding in Mexico a few years ago and it was beautiful!!! I knew then and there that was what I wanted. They planned an excursion for all the guests to attend if we wanted to and that was it. Aside from the actual wedding day, they had nothing else planned. It was great! I loved the idea of going to my friends wedding and spending a week on vacation with them and my other friends. What I did appreciate was the private dinner/reception they had, which is why I decided to do the same thing. I'm sure it would have been a different situation if we were in the restaurant with all the rest of the guests on the resort. I also liked that they gave us a travel mug to use at the resort that week. What didn't I like, hmmm....can't really think of anything. It was great!
