  1. Great job and ditto what ChicagoPT asked...where did you get the supplies and how did you actually make/put them together. I think this idea is adorable and I may need to *borrow* it!!
  2. Krys - are you out there? lol...I'm wondering if you can share any info about entertainment either at or near Beaches resort? I'm in a similar situation as the brides above, where it will be a small wedding (less than 10 probably) so we won't be doing a big private reception, but it would be nice to know that there will be something going on to keep everyone entertained that evening. I see the Beaches site lists that they have entertainment, but it doesn't really give specifics. Do they do any type of bonfire on the beach during the week? Any info you can share would be appreciated!
  3. I don't see why you can't use your own. Maybe you can send an email to your WC and ask?
  4. I think that if you are comfortable with it just being the 2 of you then you should definitely go for it!! This is your wedding, and you should follow your heart and do what feels right. I'm not sure when your wedding date is, but I also have a feeling that people may change their minds after all the drama calms down, so you just never know.
  5. I'm so sorry this is happening to you I have my fingers crossed that your FI going over there helped and that your dresses will be ready very soon!!

I agree with what pineapplebride said...it's never too early - especially if there is a particular photographer that you want to book because you will be devastated if they aren't available for your date. I don't have a contract in place for our photographer just yet, but we are talking/working out the timing and details, so I will have it booked soon!! I think most resorts are like this, where they don't really work with the brides until 30 to 60 days before. At first that freaked me out a little, but as you read the reviews on this site, just remember that all the past brides went thru the same thing and all of their wedding's came out beautifully!!
  7. Great planning thread Kat!! I think the cake cutter and the place cards are my most favorite things!! I'm not doing place cards for our DW because it's so small, but I think I may steal your idea for our AHR!! And I know you didn't have it listed, but I love your wedding location - it's absolutely stunning!! Congrats!!
  8. Kat - your pics are so beautiful, and you look amazing!! I love your colors, your dress, your cake, just everything! Congratualtions on being a Mrs!!
  9. jerri-lee -- I just checked out the Beaches pics and they seem in line with what other Beaches brides have posted - thanks for sharing. They aren't bad, but they definitely aren't the journalistic type photos that we're looking for (when I say they aren't bad, I just mean the pics themselves - you still look fabulous!). If a bride is looking for the standard wedding shots, they are probably fine, but I def want something more creative and that's why I'm happy we are going with TI!!
  10. deep dish pizza : love it, but it's bad for me
  11. I can't believe this is the first time I've read thru your planning thread, lol!! I know it's been months since your wedding but just wanted to say great job on your planning thread - everything looks beautiful!! And thank you for all the helpful info you've provided about T&C as well!!
  12. Another vote for dress #2!! I also like dress #3 but it's hard to tell without it fitting right and dress #2 is just so flattering!! No matter which one you choose, you're going to look beautiful!
  13. how I feel right now : a little sad
  14. I really like the first one and think it may be better for a beach wedding, but I've heard taffeta can be really hot. Even if you are going to order online, I would recoomend trying both dresses on first to get an idea of how each gown looks on your body - then you can decide and order online.
  15. I originally created our website using The Knot, but now I'm thinking that I'd like to create a site that we can use for our wedding but also a site that we can use indefinitely afterwards as well...to post pics not only of the wedding, but then keep adding to it with updated family pics, family news, etc...I'm ok paying for the domain name and hosting, and also want a site that I can include music on. Has anyone else done anything like this?
  16. Kelly - I sent you a PM. Jerri-lee - would love to see the beaches resort pics...if you need to email the link, my email is [email protected]. Even tho we are going to use TI, I'm still going to want some pics from the ceremony and it helps to see what I can expect. Thanks!!
  17. Good Morning everyone...I was on the May 2010 thread for awhile but then we had to change our date to 2011 so here I am!! Thanks for putting that list together V!! I didn't see any other May 5 brides, but you can add my name to the list now
  18. Congratulations and welcome!!! This forum is more helpful than I can explain and I'm sure you'll find lots of wonderful ideas to plan your DW!! by the way - great wedding date! Mine is the same day :)
  19. Thanks for posting the pic - it's beautiful! I'm glad all worked out in the end!! I could be wrong, but I don't think you can insure the ring on it's own. I think you need to have either homeowner's or renter's insurance and then you can add it to that policy - and you'll need to have an appraisal done as well. All I had to do was call my insurance agent (I have Allstate for both my car and home) and faxed her a copy of the appraisal an she was able to add it to my current policy with no problem.
  20. I think it's an absolutely awesome idea, and based on the feedback everyone is posting I think you may just start another DIY project trend on the forum!! I don't think adding more pages would be overkill...I think your guests would LOVE to see so many pictures from the wedding and the vacation, so if you really want the spine glued, and it's within your budget then I say go for it! But I also think that your guests would totally appreciate the stapled version as well....I don't think you'd have one person say "gee, this was nice, but it would have been better without the staples"...you def don't need to break the bank to make it a beautiful project. Whichever way you go, I'm sure it will turn out amazing and your guests will love the pics as well as all the effort that went into it. And like other brides have said ...PICS....PICS.....PICS
  21. I'm pretty sure every bride on this forum has had the exact same issue at some point in their planning, and we all know it's difficult but you really need to try and not let it get to you. I think that as a general rule DW brides try to be respectful when planning and look for resorts that aren't outrageously priced, but a lot of guests don't see that. They just think that we are planning a DW with no regard to how expensive it will be for our guests. Sometimes explaining to them what went into the planning helps...other times it doesn't and they'll still complain. I'll also say, that you are going to have people complain about eveything...not just the price. They won't like the date you picked because it doesn't fit with their schedule, or they don't like the location because they've already been there, or they heard bad things about the resort on trip advisor...and on and on and on. So like others have said, the ones that want to be there will find a way, and the others won't. Regardless of who attends, you are going to have a fabulous DW!!

I'd be happy if I could get it for $475 like Janine mentioned, and I figure we are still 10/11 months away so we have plenty of time to watch for good fares.
  23. I just looked at your pics as well as your sisters and they are all amazing!! I don't have any doubts at all about hiring Tropical Imaging for our wedding - they are fabulous at what they do!! I would love to have sunset pics - our DW was originally scheduled at Beaches Negril at 4pm for this very reason, but when we moved resorts, we had to select a different time, which sucks. But your review makes me hopeful that I may still be able to pull this off
