been to both. DR is a lot cheaper and has better beaches (especially in Punta Cana!) but Mexico is more widely known and has sooo many flights from USA. we chose Mexico because DR would have been "too exotic" for our guests. i feel that RM is more developed than any part of DR (we wanted our guests to be really comfortable).

they are the same 110v. i've stayed at Ocho Rios in Februrary and 3 other Riu properties in the Caribbean and they all use 110v. no worries! =)

Hey MP Brides! just stopping by to say hello to all of you. this thread has been quiet the past few days! i got an e-mail from Maribel on Thanksgiving Day. at first i was shocked that Palace Resorts is open on a holiday, then i remembered that Maribel is working from Cancun. hehehe =/ anyways ...how's the planning been for you ladies?

i love that style of dress. it could easilly be a Monique Lhuillier design but for waaaaay less than the price. perhaps u could get a different sash? why not just buy it since it's so cheap anyways? maybe u could find a pictorial event or something else to wear it to. IMO your wedding gown should not work around the bridesmaids dresses. =)

your dress is great! just bustle the train! do you love it? or are u contemplating on wearing something different because of the location? i say wear whatever you feel most symbolizes your bridal look. i agree with the other girls here that you look like pretty princess in the dress =)

i told our guests to take advantage of low fares when they see it. we found the cheapest roundtrip fare from San Francisco to Cancun for only $360 per person. We went and bought flights for atleast 10 famly members. better be safe than sorry! sometimes the fares change depending on what day you are searching. we noticed on weekends the fares go up!

oh my gosh! my sister texted me this afternoon telling me to watch MTV True Life. At first I wanted to watch it because of the couple planning a destination wedding in Mexico. however, it was your story that i loved! i totally cried when your hubby proposed to you! what a lucky girl you are! i did a study abroad program there too while in college so i was totally relating. THEN, the other couple were staying at Riu Palace in Cabo where my FI and I stayed at 2 years ago. CONGRATS!!! I loved your episode! You have such a beautiful family!!! now i'm going to send this thread link to my sister =)
