  1. I think that the idea of yellow is really lovely and fresh... I would keep what you have already planned and do yellow in our flowers. Maybe yellow hair flowers for the BM's as well to tie it in? And yellow and white boutonnieres for the men? Incorporate in little ways on your tables etc as an accent color only.. Or I personally think that a green would look great with those colors as well.
  2. Thanks Kristy!! I think that the Waldorf has just not 'aged' well... =) I agree that if we can get Dream for $200; then why not? It looks amazing and Kamila is excited about the lighting etc... I emailed her last night to get a timeline from her as to how the day will go so we can all plan our days. I will let you all know on this thread when I hear back from her.
  3. I am so glad that we are all settled and that your $$ isn't lost! Any thoughts on hotel preferences?
  4. No problem! I was just worried that maybe your $$ was lost! I will email Kamila tomorrow and get back to you. So excited that we are all on board! We are going to have so much fun Any thoughts on locations ladies?
  5. I am so glad I found this thread!! At first, I thougth maybe my work had caught on and was trying to ban the site. Phew..
  6. I can see how you would feel torn.. I am agreeing with the majority of the responses so far. This is your wedding and if the parents really want to be there; they will find a way to be there. I am sure the courts would understand if they tell them right from the 'get - go' that their daughter is getting married on these dates. I would have the wedding of my dreams with my FI and I (super romantic, just the two of you if that's what it comes down to); video tape it, take lots of pics and show the parents later. They are also the ones making the decision not to be there. When its all said and done, its your decision. You want to be able to look back on your wedding day and be happy with it. In the end, your parents are suppsoed to love you and support you no matter what; if they aren't, then that's thier problem. I don't mean to sound harsh - but so many of us go through the drama of ppl trying to make us feel bad for having a DW. It's our weddings and if you love us, support us.
  7. I agree with everyone else; she is being just a "wee bit" unreasonable.. I can't believe that she is a bridezilla this far in advance! Kudos to you for standing up for yourself!! And.. phew.. you dodged a bullet with those BM outfits?!? Ew..

  9. It's a completely personal decision. We are paying for the wedding ourselves and we didn't feel the need to put FI's mother or my father on there; and neither of them should be offended. My understanding has always been that the parents are on there if they are paying or helping to pay for the wedding. That being said, if you want to include your parents; I am sure that they will be touched.
  10. Kamila just wrote me again.. and said that the Waldorf is also an option if we want a more "vintage'y" feel. If you are looking for a more "vintagey" type look, I was just looking at the Waldorf Astoria, rooms are about $200 - Waldorf=Astoria - Accommodations Personally, I am a modern clean lines kinda gal (like Dream) but if you all prefer the look of the Waldorf; I am flexible.

  12. Hi Ladies, I just received the following email from Kamila: Hi Shannon! I do have Michelle LoConte for hair and makeup booked for March 6th! Also, I received deposits from you andf from Kristy so far. As far as the hotel - Michelle has a contact at this hotel - :: Dream Hotel NYC :: - and she is in touch with them right now. The rooms definitely look very chic and modern. I'm not that familiar with NYC hotels so I'm not sure if there are ones that are more like the B&B that I use in Philadelphia - if there is something in particular that you're looking for, let me know! I think that in NYC especially, the modern hotels work really well, so I am definitely okay with that look. If you're looking for a more vintage style hotel, I'm not sure where to look exactly, but I'll be glad to help and look around! I would love to shoot at the Dream hotel, it looks amazing! And I think these type of locations really add a chic city quality to the photos, and if we can get an amazing view that's even better! And I told Michelle that it would be great to keep the room to a $200 budget if she can get it - that way it would be the same price as the Standard - otherwise I will definitely let you know before booking! As far as outfits - a lot of girls go from very conservative to super sexy so you can have a mix of stuff. For example, a lot of girls bring one of their fiance's button-down shirts, maybe something sporty, and then also corsets and thigh-highs and garters. And we also do topless stuff but "covering up" or looking over the shoulder, so there is something left to the imagination. I am a huge fan of corsets and fishnets. I really love vintage-looking stuff like the Vintage Victoria line from VS, I like some stuff from Agent Provocateur - and a lot of girls find really unique stuff at Marshalls and Kohls - basically anything that will make you feel sexy and maybe a little bit like putting on a different character and becoming "a vixen" for those few hours. I also bring things like hats, sunglasses, masquerade masks, etc - stuff that can make you feel transformed and sometimes really helps to kind of let loose and work it for the camera! And of course the hair and makeup is also dramatic and amazing and Michelle makes it so that the makeup coordinates with the colors of the outfits. Oh and as far as colors - I love really vibrant stuff like pinks, blacks, reds, etc - pale colors sometimes look kind of bland. Blondie25 - just please get in touch with myself or Kamila as I don't want your payment and contract getting lost. I like the idea of the Dream Hotel.. pics are gorgeous. What do you ladies thing?
  13. Hi Ladies, I just wanted to share with you some great deals FI and I found this weekend when looking for things to fill our OOT Bags. 14. I'm not the best DIY gal.. so we are considering doing these and putting our monogram on them. Not sure what color yet.. They are shown here in Yellow. Personalized Beach Safe Containers - Yellow
  15. Hmm.. Well, the "jig" is up for me; FI and I have been living together for 2 years and I have been married before. So, I am not the white, v*rginal bride! =) I plan on going in between naughty and nice; as you put it .. my own special spice!
  16. Well, you have already left!! So.. no more waiting! Good luck and have fun.
  17. I don't know about them but I was wondering the same thing and just wanted to say good post!
  18. I am also doing a sunset wedding theme.. but like MarieSam I am sticking with more natural colors.. browns, blue's, white's (of course for my dress and FI shirt) with gold accents. Here is what I have so far. STD (brown and gold): Invite (I think, we r going to decide this weekend.. brown, blue and gold): Flower Inspiration: BM Dresses (they will not be carrying flowers above, only I will; but they will have blue jewelry of some sort): My Dress: FI will wear a white linen shirt and tan linen pants; GM's will wear tan linen pants and blue shirts. Hope this helps!
  19. It's a very cute idea!!! I would just check to make sure that everyone has a dvd player or computer that plays them. Some people especially those in older generations aren't totally caught up with modern technology.
  20. I would absolutely tell them beforehand.. for the reasons above by Tlseeg! I bought my BP's jewelry and some other selected items; but I already told them about the jewelry so they don't buy any themselves.
