  1. Ladies, Is everyone still experiencing travel problems with dates booked at the end of May through June? We're flying Northwest Airlines, and while they are allowing to "re-book" at no cost through May 31st, they are still flying to Mexico. Also, it has been released that the Flu Alert level has gone down, and travel is begining to resume to business as normal. The positive vibes worked! Just curious to know if everyone else is feeling relieved and if things have turned for the positive. Much love to you all!!!!!!
  2. Hey ladies, please read the following and encouraging email I received from Blue Parrot in Playa Del Carmen; I received this today: "Its Not An Epidemic...Its An Infodemic." Greetings to All Friends of The Blue Parrot! First off, thanks for all of your thoughts and wishes directed to us during this crisis. We truly appreciate it. "Its Not An Epidemic...Its An Infodemic." After saying that today on CNN, travel authority Peter Greenberg announced that he was heading to Cancun this week, citing some of the lowest airfares in history, including $150 USD (pre-tax) Round Trip airfares to New York-Cancun! This has been one of those "good news--bad news" scenarios. The good news is that--hour by hour--the recent Influenza outbreak is appearing to be much less threatening than has been endlessly speculated in the press over the past week. The bad news is that the travel and hospitality industry has been devastated by the doomsday scenarios discussed ad nauseum in the tabloid news media. It was particularly bad coming on the heels of the last media drama--the threat to tourists posed by the Mexican Crime Wave. Needless to say, no tourists were harmed during that round of media hyperbole either. The reality is that Playa del Carmen--and for that matter the entire Mexican Caribbean--is healthier, safer and more affordable than ever. There are no "epidemic" face masks, there is virtually no crime and people are still kissing on the street and partying the night away on the beach at the Blue Parrot. [end of email] To me this speaks volumes.
  3. I would suggest tapas as well, and Sangrias and Mimosas. yummy.

My pants are busting at the seams just thinking about it, hehehe, I can't wait!! lol, Trish that kinda makes me chuckle that she labeled it your cake Jenn is headed to Cali this weekend and is supposed to call me, so Im going to try and figure out a way to ask her about it without offending her, lol. And that totally sucks you couldn't use them for your wedding ~ did you at least end up with a good cake? MarieSam, I love this idea! We are getting married at EcoTulum, Cabanas Copal, and really don't want a cake, becuase we'll all be getting our drink on and I think the cake will go to waste, but the strawberries sounds devine!!!! I love this idea....think I'm going to contact them as well. I've heard nothing but great things about them! Thanks!
  5. I just found this threas, and everything is perfect! Congratulations! You really put great detail into making your wedding beautiful!
  6. I've been reading this thread almost everyday, and I must confess that while it has helped with the emptional support, I also feel the negative impact that it has on me, which is making me more anxious. So I want to offer a few words. First, a few of our very close friends just returned from Mexico yesterday. They tell us what everyone else has been stating: It's the media over-hyping an illness. They have family there in Mexico, and the events happening are from people being sick "for a while" and not knowing what was wrong, and being treated for something else leading them to become even more sick., which was this new flu strained. Of course, CDC and WHO are not media, but they're reports and exposure is media driven. So to me I have 2-options: Don't listen to the media and negative talk, or listen and continue to read the stress of others and the end result will be me freaking out. I choose the first. Our wedding is June 13th and we fly out June 10th. We're not cancelling, if all else, it will be cancelled for us, and then a plan B will be put into action. As for now, it's business as usual, although I'm no longer going to pay for anything else related to the wedding until we are confirmed with health clearance. My heart goes out to all those already negatively impacted. For those of you still in limbo, stay positive, I believe everything happens for a reason, and whether or not it is clear to you now, no doubt the universe is unfolding exactly as it should. Much Love to You Call.
  7. I'm so sorry. I don't know what else to say, but that we are all here for you.
  8. I have, and it's taking me days to search through all of the postings on both, even when trying to narrow the selection. So if anyone has favorite sellers that are willing to share, I would certainly appreciate the information. Thanks
  9. Hello ladies. I'm searching high and low for my jewelry and have no luck. Would like chunky turquoise choker style necklace that has a rustic feel and chunky turquoise bracelet. I'm also looking for turquoise or red coral chandelier earrings. Any suggestions where I should look? Thanks in advance. XO
  10. Girl these rock - great job! I love the meet the guests idea, very nice. I think I'm going to roll with that idea as well! Thanks for sharing!
  11. With "Sin City" being a common nickname for Vegas, I think you're on the right track. One thing I would definitly throw in is "Oxygen" you can buy single cans of oxygen that are small and matte silver - they have these at a lot of boutique hotels like Hotel Zha Zha, Palms, etc...they are great for hangovers!
  12. I love the luggage tags. Are those stickers you made or found someplace? I'm looking for images like that to make for mine. Great job!
  13. Congratulations, and you should know better than to post this without pics...we are picture whores! LOL! Can't wait to see it!!!!!!
  14. I like them both, but here are my thoughts on each: The first one looks like it will be more flattering since the waist line is longer, and my opinion is that if you have large chested girls this would be more flattering. The second one is also very cute, and I like the sash waist, but if you have large chested girls then this may make them look a little heavy in the mid section. I could be totally wrong, but from looking at them that's my take. Great material and both very stylish. Congratulations!
  15. I am getting sick to my stomach over all of this - I'm so thankful for this forum or I would lose my mind....Dios Mio!!!!!
  16. I posted to the other link about the FLU - I just want you to know that we're all here for you and if I had the money I would fly down for your event on Saturday! Be with your love, embrace each other...after all it's not about everyone else, but just the two of you. Much Love....and peace be with you.
  17. OK girls. I just read through all 20 pages of posts, and have a few things to add. First, Blkatz, I am so terribly sorry, my heart goes out to you both. If you are capable of still marrying while there, I would continue with the ceremony. Please let us know what we can do for you. I know we are all miles a part, but know that you have positive vibes and thoughts coming to you. We are scheduled to fly out on June 10th, and I have received a call from one guest, and the other person a little on edge is my FMIL. I'm going to send an email out to all guests tonight to try and ease any potential stress from the media. I believe that everything is going to work it's way out. The drug issue was first, and now since this flu thing happened I haven't heard a word of the drug violence. Yes, the flu situation is reality, and yes it is bad in the way that the media is portraying it. And yes, WHO has issued a level 4 due to the reality of certain areas the flu has surfaced. I've decided to stay positive, and think positive. After all what else am I going to do but make myself sick...again. Let's all be in this positive thought process together. Much love to all the Mexico girls on here - Man, we have been through a lot!
  18. Malisa!!! I just checked out your photos - AMAZING!!!!!!! I cried while watching - just beautiful! A few more questions: Do you have the contact information for both florists? Do you have the contact information for the dancers? Beautiful, Beautiful - my fiance also loves the photos!
  19. Malisa, This is a very helpful, and informative review. Our wedding is 6.13.09, and we're having a Mayan ceremony at EcoTulum - Copal. I inquired about Maria and Charlie after learning that our original Shaman Daniel Poo Pech will not be able to perform our ceremony. Do you have any suggesstions how I may get in contact with Charlie? I'm begining to flip out a bit, as this is very symbolic and spiritual, and we want the Shamans to be in-line with us spiritually - not a commercialized version. I would welcome any suggesstions from you. Congratulations and thank you for sharing! April
  20. Thank you for the informative review. I too am having a Mayan ceremony; however we are staying at Catalonia Royal Tulum, and the ceremony will take place at EcoTulum - Copal. We have a great WC, but I now have concerns. We chose Copal, becuase of the Shaman Daniel Poo Pech, and we learned within the last couple of weeks that he is no longer performing ceremony's there due to a car accident. Daniel is well respected and known Internationally for his healing work, and to sum it up he has a beautiful soul where we desired to have him perform our ceremony. Our WC has provided us with (2)n Shamans that would possibly perform our ceremony and one of the couples is the same that married you and your husband. Also, our wedding photographer is Cecilia Dumas. We wanted Del Sol, but we couldn't afford the cost. So I have a couple of questions for you: 1.) Did you and your husband have vows or speak to each other during the ceremony? 2.) Would you recommend meeting the Shaman prior (it's what we want to do) before the ceremony? 3.) How long did the ceremony last? 4.) I purchased a Maggie Sottero dress (Philippa), and was going to change to a more casual, but I'm going with the dress and will wear rustic chunky turqoise (sp?)...do you think that's too much? 5.) Did you receive a document from the shaman or did you have one made for your ceremony? 6.) Do you have photos I can review of Cecilia's work? Sorry for all of the questions, but we are on the verge of our wedding and I'm getting anxious and overwhelmed. Congratulations!
