  1. This happened to me... we had been friends since Jr High. We had our moments of pulling away from eachother for a while because she is the "always right" type. I dealt with it because it was her nature along with being a great friend overall. Once we got engaged, mind you she is already married and has been for 7 yrs.. things just went south on so many levels. We had orig planned for the local wedding and she did go and see different venues with me and actually seemed excited about the process. Once we started getting real totals on each place and what the overall cost was going to be, my hubby thought of the idea of a DW. I called her the second we knew it was the right thing to do and she jumped for joy talking about how she would not miss it along with her hubby and kids. We picked out place and the second she got a quote from our TA.. she started with the bantering of "Why did you have to pick the most expensive place".. "We could go to Disney for a week for less than 4 days in Jamaica." Now this WAS one of my closest BF's and orig my thought on a MOH. WTF?? It got worse as she went to other friends that were waiting on quotes and complained about the place, the flights.. you name it. Top it all off she went on to tell my other BM how rotten I am thinking that since we made alot more money than her family we should help her pay because that was not what she bargined for. Needless to say her drama was affecting everything about the begining process of my DW and I was only engaged for 2 months. No longer did I feel bride like at all ... I felt like I did something wrong on a daily basis and couldn't even have a phone conversation because my day was consumed with getting wedding stuff going. In the end, I just told her that I was done with it, if she didn't want to come or be in the process because of her own issues then it was fine.. but stop blasting about me to people that really care and are coming and creating the stress in all our lives. It killed me to know that one decision of doing something that We really wanted for us would ruin a friendship I worked so hard at keeping. In the end I later found out it was all about jelousy and money. She couldn't deal with the things we could do with our lives, while she sat at home. - Her words Hopefully you will have a better outcome when you speak with your friend... and glad you vented as it always helps in making anyone feel better about the situation.
  2. Erin your post 29 says it all for me... Consumed/addicted in everything wedding and BDW. I couldn't go without coming on the site at least 3 times a day(if not being here online all day at work), to find out what was going on with everyone else in their planning. Then we got back and about 2 weeks after.. Oh my I was completely lost on sooo many levels. Depressed that my day was over killed me. Everyone here at my work knew because the last year if I didn't have something wedding on my desk they thought it was odd... randomly, they started just giving me things to do. At least the AHR was in Jan and I had that to work on too. I felt better for a while.. then 4 days after the AH, Jay was laid off with 45% of the company! We planned on going to Beaches Turks and Caicos for our 1st anni with our son Noah, but that just doesn't look like its going to happen as it's March and he has only found 2 jobs to actually apply to in his line of work. My work is steady thank god, for having that. Unless we want to move out to CA, TX, or IL Jay could have a job in a heartbeat, as companies have been contacting him. Carly - I feel it a million times over .. what happened to fun and fancy free.. now it seems so planned or not at all. 8o( Otherwise things are pretty good all around... with all the Home Depot cards are got we have repainted rooms, bought new fixtures and started with the smaller updates to keep Jay busy during the week. All things wedding and AHR are paid off, THANK YOU reception cards.. LOL Oh and babies... OMG NOAH needs to stop with "I want a little sister.. not a brother a sister K". We planned on making his little dream come true, but with Jay not working.. we want to wait it out till we have more in the savings again. We did it once before broke, directly during Sr yr of college.. I just don't want the stress again of $$. I'm still jumping on here at least once a day... but it's sooo hard connecting with other girls as we are the "Old Ladies" on here and a million new girls so hard to keep up with them. No matter what, I don't - I know I can't stop coming on here and checking out to see whats going on.
  3. Thanks it was an awesome time ... but it went by soooo fast! Obviously, Jamaica was a better.. but now I REALLY know why I did a DW. Our AHR was actually really cheap for being as formal as it was..4K for 100 people and that was for everything. Find a place with good eats, that has a function area and just work on it from that. Ours was at a Steakhouse known all over the NE and was on the Food Networks Top 10 Steakhouses show. I NEVER knew they had ballroom, how random right?
  4. Congrats and welcome to the forum! Cruise Critic just posted a member review on its homepage and it was great!
  5. My thought on this when I was getting ready for my day was... why bother bringing something else down with me when they will provide one. IF, someone were to buy a set for me as a gift, then yes I would bring it down.. because it was a nice gesture to purchase it. At the resort I stayed at since I did not get one as a gift, they actually had a decorated "Beverly...??" The kind you could purchase from our WC for us to use for free.
  6. For my day ... I had the thong all ready to go... But once I got really outside for some pictures in the garden .. I was seriously stuck to my dress. My BM ran up to my room and found the only cottons I had .. OMG was that better. I also had hurricane weather though. My "frillies" were saved till that night.
  7. Awwwww YAY!!!!!!!! So perfect and it looks gorgous on you Danielle!! It's just like you said, once you have the dress you can't wait for your day. Congrats and being a beautiful Maggie bride!!
  8. Sorry girls... I have not been on all that much, my gram passed a few days after I said I would ship and I am trying less and less to be a BDW addict like I was before my wedding. I took over a week off for gram as I had to travel out of state and I was a trustee to her will. All of the items were here at work in the closet and I honestly forgot all about it when I came back into the office 2 weeks ago. I will PM you with shipping costs in a few. Sorry about this.
  9. I've been meaning to get these up for a while now.. set it on my calendar as being busy for at least an hr so no one can bother me here at work. I can only log into FB and not MS from work, as this is where everyone is putting up pics. So I will do my best at getting some now and then more up tonight. Our AHR was pretty formal affair/"reliving" of the day for Jay's Grandmother and for his Grandfather. However his grandfather passed away in Dec. So with that being said we placed his fire hat (He was the city fire chief for over 20 yrs) in the chair where he would have sat, with an empty place setting. It was out way to honor and know that he was with us on the day he was looking forward to. Sooooo on with the pictures... because well we ALL are picture whores... LOL OH and my FAV BY FAR!!!!! Is that bad
  10. Those are truely great!!! Check out my thread below... This is one prob of the Esty sellers Jackie is talking about ... much cheaper and MANY of the girls have used Lynn for their toppers too. OH the comments I got from my topper in Jamaica and at the AHR because no one had ever seen anything like that. Just another thought on ways to save a few bucks for the same product. Good Luck in your search.
  11. Congrats Greg and Chris and welcome to the forum!! We HM'd at CSA and loved it! Great choice. Be sure to check out the Jamaica thread as we have had a few CSA brides. Happy planning to you both!

  14. Hey Maisy! For the older kids they have the XBOX 360 room.... and activities such as volleyball, mini golf, Pool tables through out the resort and all of the items over at the sports complex. Kids of all age ranges were pretty much everywhere mingling together on the water slides... the swim up bar/pools. It all depends on the day ... but the older kids can get involved with the adult nightly items.. the beach party which is on a Thursday Night ... noticed the younger ones were gone from the beach by 9 but the party kept going till about 11:30. They had kid and adult dance contests and limbo for both. To ease up some of the OMG Cookie Monster is Following me... You actually don't see them at all execpt at the Character breakfasts, The Seseme Street Show (which is 2 times during the week at night after dinner in the theater) and the actual activities you pick out for child to do at Kids camp.. (Noah had a dance party with Zoey, made Pizza with Elmo, and Wizard Wands with Grover... it's all age approp for a 6 yr old.. everything is broken up into age brackets) and if it's someones birthday and they are having it at The Mill (Buffet).. they might come mingling by. Hope this helps!
  15. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Lisa!!!! OH stress... what are you talking about?? LOL... No such thing as stress for a wedding... k I'm done being silly...
  16. Hey Mary, they are pretty standard about the full 48 hrs thing... Jamaican residency states to be married you need the 48 hrs (2 full days before your wedding). Check with CSA when booking and they will be able to tell you more a bout this and what day you need to arrive by.
  17. I used WeddingWire - Wedding Venues, Wedding Cakes, Dresses, Invitations, Planning, Advice for Perfect Weddings! for everything related to this ... it can break down everything for you and you can run custom reports with just a few clicks. I had this for 2 showers, Jamaica, Thanks yous for my Jack N Jill presents, Everything for our AHR. It was really a time saver as once the main part of putting people in was done ... I could work on everything and get a ton done in minutes. Best part was that that you can make seating and PDF plans for your AHR and I had everyone seated in no time.
  18. Hey Tamisha... Congrats and welcome to the forum!!! Jamaica is amazing but so is Barbados after reading a recent article in Destination Weddings Magazine... I think you check out their website so read the article... but have fun and let us know when you decide on where you are going!!

  22. I was married at Beaches in November... and I just got my official license in the mail this past Thursday. I called because it had taken a while ... but Nov was super busy with weddings and they were a bit behind all around... but all in all I now have my real lic. We also did get a copy of our lic right after everyone finished signing it so I wasn't too worried about timing on when the "real" one came. I was able to use our temp one to change everything at soc security and so on. Hope this helps!
  23. Woo Hooo they are amazing!!! I loved your hair too .. espec with the mix of the highlights.. best of both worlds!!!
  24. Congrats gals!! We HM'ed at Couples Swept Away ... it was amazing!!! Erin is the go to gal for all your CSA questions!!!
