  1. Congrats Jamie!!! Welcome to the forum... the second I read your post... I knew Erica had to be your soon to be sista in law!! Just remember to go and see Tess for your Boudior Shoot!!!!!
  2. Hey Mimi!!! Congrats!! I was not a St Lucian Bride ... but a Beaches bride in Jamaica... and since the chain runs pretty similar on all weddings... maybe I can help you on a few things. Miami WC's - OOOOO so not helpful I feel your pain on this!! They did not help with anything in getting me info, and honestly it terrified me to no end not knowing. They are really just trying to sell everything and push the sales before you arrive. I ended up waiting till I got down to the resort for pretty much everything. Only thing I was certain about was that I did not forgo the whole extra $75 charge for a private reception. I did go with a semi private cocktail hr for $15 and booked that before we left for Jamaica. One thing with it was I got to pick on the grounds exactly where I wanted it.... It was completely private!! We did not have a DJ or anything .. but we did use their sound system for our dances and such along with our Ipod. We had our own pool deck raised from everyone as our reception location. After that we went and had dinner reservations at the buffet where they reset everything from our cocktail hr .. chair covers sashes everything to recreate the theme. It was amazing. It was hard for me not to plan anything really... but once I got down I was able to see the locations for myself ... meet with the WC only a day later and have everything picked out in less than an hr. One thing I have noticed is that Sandals and Beaches are not very giving at all when it comes to showing off their wedding stuff ... it's a big secret pretty much the whole time. You will be able to get through it.... Oh and check out TripAdvisor and You Tube... I met a bunch of girls that married at my resort... they were super helpful in leting me know all about the resort, since I was the only Beaches Negril bride here on the forum. Hope this helps!
  3. I would say my registry was ALOT like yours. I had Bed Bath & Beyond and Target as my places. Maybe think about finding a second place.. you have "price just right" now maybe a "higher end"(Not that BBB is over priced or anything). I went with that only because my MIL suggested it as the "Old Schoolers" are used to having a more traditional approch to purchases and even items. Like yours, Target has awesome items online and I found way more of the real items I wanted online than in the store. I went on an online shopping spree with Target... then in store got some of the basics... all the kitchen gadgets, towels, and even some camping items to mix it all up. But Target was really online paradise for me. For BBB I actually found alot in the store that I wanted. I was really surprised about this too. In the end... for my showers (I had 2.. visiting family and then local family and friends) I got ALOT more of BBB compared to Target stuff. I will say I got many many GC's to Target but no actual online items. Don't know if it's because alot of my items were online or not.. but one comment was that I had lots of smaller stuff in store and people wanted to get "real" gifts" -(whatever that means). Go with what the girls said ... check to see where your age range is for guests and people you know what will want to be at your showers. I think this would def help.
  4. YAY Congrats from another Negril Bride...Negril is really amazing for sunsets ahh and the beach ... you can walk for miles on it!!! I think we have had 2 past brides from Rockhouse... I would check out the reviews thread and see what they have to offer for you. Congrats again and welcome to the forum!!

  6. Aww Andrea.. your day reminds me sooo much of my day seeing your pics... well you minus a hurricane... BEEEEE-U-TEEE-FUL!!!!! Plus, you have totally sealed the deal for us taking Freedom of the Seas for our 1st Anni cruise now! I loved the Gazebo .. it looks so private and "old world" - if ya know what I mean. YAY ANDREA!!!!
  7. Congrats and welcome to the forum Keri!! Hmmm thats interesting that Sandals told you that. We had that slot offered to us and they did not say anything about HAVING to have that package. We actually ended up with an earlier time of 3pm. I would def check with a TA on booking with them. I was married at Beaches Negril and then HM'ed at Couples Swept Away. I think Couples would prob be a great option for you as it's just the 2 of you. Check out the reviews and look ... I know of 3 girls here that got married at CSA. Happy planning!

  21. AI Resorts can have huge differences in price...some examples of this would be because: # of stars, resort size, location, and types of food and beverage (Premium/Top Shelf to basic/generic brands). Some places offer Weddingmoon packages (Sandals/Beaches) and some have Free packages (Riu) for the number of rooms you have and other such details. Even with that being said, in Jamaica, you still have to pay for your officent and which depends on the resort. If you are looking for a private reception or even a cocktail hr after your wedding.. almost all charge for this. Where I got married a formal reception with dinner in a private setting was $75 per person. A 1 hr cocktail reception was only $15 per person. You can certainly get past paying for anything for your reception though. You could decide to dine at one of the restaurants they have on the property with your guests. Granted it may not be as private but you can do that. Have you thought about a resort yet or narrowing your choices down yet?? This would be helpfull as past brides can tell you all about the resort and what the real prices are.
  22. I am really partial to the starfish ones... they are really cute and you would be able to get away wearing them with anything after the wedding.. it's all tropical so no worries!
  23. Congrats and welcome to the forum!!!
