  5. Well I guess it all depends on how much you really want one and for what reasons and let him know that. Jay didn't want one either at first ... but once he thought about Nana and Grampy ... he was all for it because he knew how much it ment for the older people and his handicapped aunt who was horribly upset that she would not make it to Jamaica. In what I am saying .. yes and AHR is all about you ... but I think I feel more that it's for everyone else you want at it. People that would not be able to come and such and making things seem special and enjoying the day over again with pictures, video, and just talking with the people that made it down. Just my 2 cents...
  6. Congrats and welcome to the forum from a Jamaican Bride! Check out the Jamaica threads I am sure everything will be figured out quickly... YAY!!
  7. On my day I think they had 4 brides. I knew about the one after mine as we chatted up the whole time at the resort. Oh that was soo fun going back and forth tthe whole time on what we had planned. I think they had a 1pm, mine at 3pm (which turned into almost 4 because of the hurrican delay) and then the 4pm which turned into a 5pm Sunset wedding. The 5pm girl actually canceled for the following day because of the weather. The 1pm girl I saw her at the spa in the morning and actually never saw her again till the following day. Since dealing with hurricane, we had to move all ideas to different sections of the resort that morning, I didn't have a problem with it even though I horribly wanted the beach and the tiki hut for my reception. Looking back on it.. I am completely happy with what we chose in the end. I had an outdoor reception on a private elevated deck by the pools. I know Alyssa (4pm wedding) chose to have her reception at the steakhouse indoors. Only time I ran back into Alyssa was after our receptions were done by the main evening bar. I loved my day and felt totally like a princess the entire time even knowing so many other brides and b2b were around. You forget about everyone else.. or at least I did.. all sense of time, who else was around .. you name it. It's a day that is all about you and you will feel it all happen so quick too..

If it's too much trouble I'm sure I can find something similar here. Thanks! Hmmm well I will do some research tonight for you and find out how to work it. I'll PM you in the morning!

  10. I have a ton of lanterns that I bought for my wedding and did not use. They are in my FS thread. Mine are brand new in package still and I Have battery operated LED lights for them.
  11. Hi girls, As a past Beaches bride now I can tell you a little bit bout the recent concern on having to purchase before hand... YOU do NOT have to purchase a thing till you get down to your resort. The WC in Miami... the ones that you speak to... just are pushing sales. When you get the resort it is much much much different. You will be able to see pictures and speak with your real WC for your wedding. I do not understand why they use the Miami sales office and call them WC because all they did was ask me everytime I called if I wanted to purchase my packages then. I didn't buy anything from my Miami chick... but this ... reserving our cocktail hr after the wedding and our dinner reservation. Then later my spa services of hair and makeup trails and my BMS stuff ... I waited for everything and you meet with the WC the day after you arrive and it all can be done in an hr. ABSOLUTELY no worries!!! Things i purchased in Jamaica - all my flowers for ceremony/reception, photo/video package.. the middle one "tropical ??" my sashes/covers and upgrades for the cermony, and bought private beach dinners for jays parents and his sister and her husband as they were married in Jamaica at a different resort years ago. (now these were really nice and totally worth the money).

So those will become available tomorrow if I do not hear back from her.

  21. I think your ideas are totally possible. Everything you should be able to get at the resort without a problem. Just need to plan with the WC first and find out pricing before you are completely set on some things. Your Chuppah is amazing... I wanted something similar for our day on the beach, but at the tune of 900 for them do recreate what I sent them... I had to figure out another option unless as my DH said back then "If they cut it up and send it all back to us at home afterwards Fedex... I'll pay for it".. LOL..
  22. Actually, we did not. We had one for Jamaica and replayed it on a loop during the AHR for people to go over and watch if they wanted. But honestly, I think having photos from that day was enough for me. No need for the added expense. I also bought cameras for the tables so I would have more than enough pics to go through.
  23. That sounds perfect then for you. I noticed after I posted you are in Atlanta. I wouldn't worry about anything then... no need to hire someone if you are going casual... it's a time to have fun and be relaxed. It will be a big ole party day. I would make a fun invite and make it a casual one but depending if you are going to have overnighters block a group of rooms at a local hotel for the just incase and add a note that you have rooms available. Kaytee - Our AHR was from 1 to 6pm on a Saturday due to the fact the weather can just be horrible or fine and then change it's mind in an instant. By having something during the day in January for us worked out because if we had some snow people would still drive because its the daytime and not night where alot of people won't want to be on the roads when its bad out. And yes, during the day on an off day can be alot cheaper... good idea with the brunch style. I think your timing for your AHR is totally up to you. You can do it at the end of the month or you can wait a few. I know some that have done it as soon as they got back and others waiting 3 plus months. All depends on your preference on that. Oh I wore my dress and everyone that came to Jamaica was dressed exactly the same. Since we were continuing it why not wear it again. And it's because I really wanted to wear my dress again...LOL how many times can you really do that.
  24. I just had my AHR less than a month ago.... You could go formal or not so formal with more of a BBQ or themed event outside at a hall or rented venue, I gues it all depends on where you live and the weather. Mostly with the AHR it's a time to get everyone together that was not able to attend your DW and celebrate the day. We actually, went pretty formal as to recreate the day for Nana and Grampy as they were not able to come to Jamaica... and they are super important to us. We wanted to make sure she felt as much part of the big day even 2 months later. Also, with living in Mass, you need to have things indoors at this time of year.. so formal is what it was. Do you have any ideas or thoughts beyond wanting one yet??
  25. As for our wedding bands... we bought them through a premier jeweler in our area because that is where my diamond came from. The prices are higher than normal but I think the quality and all around service they offer goes along with the reason in choosing my diamond and bands... My DH's band is Platinum with diamonds spaced through out the band. It is also a large band at 8cm wide. His band can not be resized you had to order to fit. With that being said as he picked it out just for him... it was 3300 on sale from 3800. YIKES I know.. but its what he wanted. Now with mine ... it's pretty straight forward normal. I was going to go with a plain platinum band but new since my diamond has 3 channel set diamonds on each side I would prob have to upgrade my choice. I did with a band that has channel set diamonds that start and end to match my engagement ring exactly, even though they are different vendors. My band was 1200. Again mine are in Platinum.. sooo it's a totally different animal if you are looking at gold for pricing issues.
