  1. Fingers crossed that she'll be able to fix the mistakes, but I'm glad you were able to find a backup! That must be a huge relief!
  2. Sounds really good! Keep us posted on what happens and good luck!
  3. Ground turkey is awesome as a beef replacement! I made turkey tacos last night (ok, not low-cal, but better than beef), and they were so good! We also eat a lot of fish... shrimp, scallops, tuna, salmon, etc. There are a lot of great options that can add variety. And pork loin is super low-fat!
  4. We did aqua and red and it looked fantastic Centerpieces could also be blue stones (provided by hotel) with small seashells or a few flowers and a candle... Lots of ideas! Check out these threads for more inspiration! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t9012 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t13312
  5. We just did OOT bags, but I've seen some really cute wine stoppers with starfish and the like. I think someone also got cookie cutters in the shape of starfish. There are lots of small favors that come in beachy themes... mini picture frames are always cute too!
  6. Hey ladies... no news for me joining the group, but I was wondering if anyone had a gyn in South Jersey (I'm in Cherry Hill) that they loved?
  7. Ours was about $1150pp including airfare for a week, but most of our guests stayed 4 nights - which worked out to about $850pp, all-inclusive. We sent out about 25 invites and had a total of 14 guests. Coral Cove Resort - Little Bay Jamaica. #1 Bed and Breakfast in Negril.
  8. Ugh!!! That sucks Lizz!!! I also almost had a heart attack when I saw your thread thinking it was something with the baby... Hopefully you'll heal quickly! Try to keep your hand elevated which should help a bit with the pain, and ice it! Sucky that you can only take Tylenol, but thank goodness they weren't broken!
  9. They're gorgeous Amy!!! Congrats! You must be so happy with the way they came out
  10. As others said, its definitely possible! We were also enagaged and married in about 7 months! I would start looking for a dress though, because if you can't find something off the rack, it will probbaly take a few months to come in. Nothing wrong with off the rack (mine was!), but you don't want to limit your choices... I would've hated to find something I loved but couldn't get because of timing.
  11. to the forum! I recently went to Belize for a dive trip and it was fabulous! We stayed at Belizean Shores, which is a little further north of San Pedro, but absolutely gorgeous! All of the hotel rooms were condos with a fully stocked kitchen and they have a dive shop on their pier, which was great. The reef is gorgeous, so if you have some divers in your group, they will be totally psyched! Happy planning and let us know how we can help!
  12. My dress was about $250 and that included changing it from a zipper back to a corset, hemming, and bustle. They also took it in twice since I kept losing weight before the wedding. My dress was almost $2k though, so I don't think the alterations fee was that bad. They really did a lot!
  13. OMG G-D YES THEY ARE GOOD!!!! Sorry, had to caps that! They are absolutely to die for! Definitely get the Cold Stone Cake (and send me a piece on dry ice!)!
  14. For those going to ROR I would really question them about this issue... Per Robin, she was escorted off the property without being able to speak to the bride and groom. In April, she was apparently told this was a "life or death situation" so she didn't argue and left quietly. I'm not sure how they meant that statement, but it certainly sounds threatening to me, not to mention how unprofessional the whole situation is. Robin was booked as a guest of the resort, so when she was thrown out a day early, she went back to MoBay and essentially camped out in the airport for the night until her flight. The whole situation is scarey if you ask me! They seem to make their policies up as they go, and if your photog gets escorted off property, you may not know what happened!
  15. I don't follow the ROR stuff, so maybe you all know about this already, but Robin DePaula just posted this on her blog... "I have been dying to post this all day. I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Taherrah & Andre this past Saturday evening at the Riu Ocho Rios (ROR). Wedding was absolutely beautiful, just I had figured it would be . . . photos to come soon! Sunday evening on my way down to photograph her & her bridesmaids for a fun, girls session, I was escorted off the property due to having a policy against professional photographers photographing there! They had taken photos of me while photographing this wedding & also the next morning during their TTD session. I had an issue with them back in April while there for some other weddings - they also had those photographs out. I am upset that I didn’t get to say goodbye to my wonderful clients, or get to do her last session! Pisses me off to say the least. I wanted to post this as a PSA for any brides plannning to get married there, and don’t want to settle on having the resort photographer photograph your wedding!!!" I'm sure Taherrah will give us more info when she gets back from her honeymoon, but since there are so many ROR brides, I wanted to pass the info along. I spoke to Robin tonight, and she was booked as a guest at ROR... scheduled to leave on Monday!
  16. I would definitely tell them. Its a safety issue, and if they don't already know there are problems, they need to know. Not to be negative, but I'd also be MORE concerned in a private villa in a more secluded location than in a larger resort area. In a large resort, you can blend and not be noticed. But, in a smaller area, the staff is bound to take notice and could cause problems. The resort I was married at was in a very small town outside of Negril. The staff was aware of EVERYTHING that went on... and I'm pretty sure the entire community of Little Bay knew about stuff that was going on during my wedding.
  17. I had planned on going barefoot, but the beach was a bit rocky, so I ended up wearing platform sandals for the ceremony. I had a pair of heels for the reception, but the platform sandals worked fine for me in the sand.
  18. to the forum! Don't feel left behind... we got married 7 months after we got engaged, so you have PLENTY of time! Congrats and happy planning! Let us know how we can help!
  19. I was hot in my dress (duchess silk satin), but not unbearably. We were married at 4:30p, so that helped. We changed after dinner/cake into our TTD clothes and danced the night away like that. The weather in January in Jamaica is hot. Everyday is different, but we were there for 3 weeks, and we really never had a 'cool' day. It was very comfortable in the morning, but by midday, it was HOT! January 19th is a great day, BTW *wink*. I'm trying to swing an anniversary trip back to Jamaica!
  20. Oh I am so late on this thread... but there is no way I could pick just one (or ten) of you girls! And if I started a list, I'd miss too many... I guess I just have a crush on ALL of BDW (with a special place in my heart for the Philly/NJ/NY gals that I've met)! And Jen - where the hell have you been!! You've been missed!
  21. to the forum! January 19th is a great day to get married... also my 1 year anniversary! There are a lot of ROR brides here that I'm sure will help you!
  22. No help for specific Canadian sources, but if you are willing to DIY them, we got our glass bottles from a store that sold supplies for homemade beer and wine. We then printed our scrolls on parchment, burned the edges, put a little sand in the bottle and voila! MIB! The materials weren't that crazy expensive, and we got exactly what we wanted! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t7653
