  1. Going to start a new thread... this has just gotten too long... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...382#post524911
  2. *bump* Have we made any decisions on actually getting together? Are people still up for Trenton or are we re-evaluating? Just trying to plan my month out
  3. You know, I was just thinking about you today and thinking you must be getting on a plane soon! Have a fantastic time! I know that everything will be perfect and I can't wait to hear all about it!
  4. This looks really interesting! I really need to get a coupon accordian because I never use my coupons because I forget about them. Stupid, I know, but they can be a total PITA.
  5. We did our sand ceremony after the kiss. I hadn't really planned when to do it, so we sort of just went with what our minister did. It did feel a little weird, and I wish it had been in the middle of the ceremony somewhere, but it was still very special and our guests thought it was a nice touch.
  6. I love that Nicole Miller dress! She has such unique designs and it looks fantastic on you! And what do you need a trainer for??
  7. Great pics! And it definitely looks like you all had a blast! That was quite a BDW get-together!
  8. We've all been there, so feel free to vent all you want! In the end, your wedding will be perfect and it will be about you and your new husband!
  9. I was going to say zappos also! They are awesome... I ordered 2 pairs when I was looking for red shoes for my wedding because I couldn't decide. They took the second pair back no problem! There is also a shoe site through Amazon with free shipping and returns...
  10. Quote: Originally Posted by Samantha S Can you tell more about food composting? How do you do it? what does it entail? FI and I do most of the things people have listed but not this one... We started composting this year when we bought our house. Our garden waste (grass/leaves/etc) was insane, so we started with that. There are a lot of ways to do it, but we went pretty simple. We built a large 4 sided box (open top and bottom) out of extra fence panels we had (you could use plywood or other material). Ours is about 4ft wide by 3-4 feet deep and maybe 3ft high. We started with garden waste. It breaks down fairly quickly, but turning the pile with a pitchfork or shovel definitely helps to speed the process (totally DH's job!). Once its been sitting for a few weeks, you'll notice that the compost is producing heat. This is when we started adding food waste. We only compost our vegetable matter because I worry about meat attracting animals. We usually put our food waste 'into' the pile - meaning we cover it with existing materials. You can also research worm composting. We may upgrade to this, but for now, I'm happy with our pile and next year our garden will get a healthy dose of vitamins from this year's waste!
  11. We used Honeymoon Registry and Travel Experts - TheBigDay's wedding registry for honeymoon experiences for our honeymoon registry. We didn't get a ton of gifts off it, but I liked the way they allowed you to customize your gifts with pics, etc. We also booked our honeymoon hotels through them, got a good deal, and it waived the registry fee! Most of our guests gave cash at the wedding instead of gifts... I agree with others that in the US it is tacky to include registry info in your invites, but if that is custom in the UK, then go for it! We put the info on our website had our parents tell people about it. My mom insisted that we have a traditional registry as well, so we registered at Bed Bath and Beyond with high end items we'd never buy ourselves...
  12. That's insane! Will be interesting to see what Brian says when he gets back...

  14. We looked into shipping things to Jamaica before our wedding, and the shipping rates were insane - think $160 for a 10lb box! USPS was more reasonable, but who knows if your stuff would make it. We ended up going first class and carried everything with us.
  15. There are a ton of photogs on this forum who do fantastic work. If you go to the Vendor Marketplace I'm sure you'll find someone who fits your style and price. There really aren't that many photojournalistic people based in Jamaica. When we were looking, we were in touch with Michael Saab and Sungold, but ended up bringing in our own photog from the states.
  16. So cute! And your pics are just phenomenal!
  17. to the forum! There are a lot of ROR brides here, so I'm sure you'll find tons of information!
  18. I'm not sure if they're still on sale, but the C.O. Bigelow soaps and Aromatherapy soaps were also on sale! I stocked up a few weeks ago
  19. to the forum! There are a ton of beautiful places to get married that are smaller... We decided on Jamaica because the residency requirements were more lenient for a legal ceremony, and from the East Coast, most people were able to get direct flights. Negril is a fabulous location because its a little quieter than MoBay and Ochos Rios and has a lot of small resorts. The cliff section of Negril is fantastic, but if you have kids coming, some resorts have age restrictions - just to be aware. Like you, we wanted a smaller resort. We really wanted to essentially have most of the resort rented out, with a max of 20-30 people. When we found Coral Cove (Jamaica Weddings :: Jamaica Bed and Breakfast :: Coral Cove Jamaica) which is about 30 minutes outside of Negril, we knew that it was perfect, and for us - - it definitely was just that - perfect. Rockhouse is beautiful, but booking them was difficult because of the minimum room requirements. The Caves is insanely nice, but also very expensive. We spent part of our honeymoon there, and it would be a gorgeous place for a wedding, but I doubt our guests would have come based on price. Tensing Pen and Catcha Falling Star are supposed to be amazing as well. You may want to look into private villas as well, though that would probably require a little more planning on your part for the wedding. We were lucky that our resort didn't charge us to hold rooms. The website says they do, but they didn't. Because its a small place, I think they were a lot more lenient. We were given a 2 week hold on the rooms we wanted - essentially the entire resort. We individually emailed/called all of our guests, and just skipped the STD (Save the Date) step. We had our website setup at this point with all of the info and within the 2 weeks, we had most of our guests booked. Now, I probably nagged a bit during this period to get people to book, but it happened. Over the next 5-6 months we had people drop out and others book, but we ended up with almost the entire resort booked and it was fabulous!
  20. I think I may order one as well... I spent a good half hour looking at it after the green thread, and now I think I may just go for it. I'm still worried that ordering based on my age - over 30 - may not be the right size, but c'est la vie. Calia (I think that's who posted it) are you sure they are exchangeable?
  21. I got my bed yesterday!!! I can't believe how fast it came! It was actually 1-800-MATTRESS that delivered it, so I guess if you have one nearby, it comes quickly. Its still in the plastic because the room still needs paint, but DH and I layed on it for a while last night and its REALLY comfy! I can't wait to finish the room and get it setup!
