  1. Hi, I have 96 Royal Blue napkins for $40 if anyone is interested. I can also separate them into 45 and 50 if necessary. I also have 8 silver starfish place card/table number holders. Message me if interested. Thanks
  2. Hi I am planning a wedding for January 2015 that is very small (35 people) at a house we rented and am struggling to find cost effective vendors. I am looking for fresh flowers (a bridal bouquet and loose roses and succulents for DIY center pieces) and am getting quoted what seems like exorbitant rates ($750). Are my expectations unreasonable or does anyone know of better options? I would be happy to just find a vendor and DIY the bouquet as well. Driving to Cabo and back (2 hours) is out of the question the day of the wedding. Also, does anyone have experience with caterers in or around Los Barriles? I have paid a coordinator to help connect with vendors, but so far am not impressed with the quotes. She keeps mentioning people she has asked to reserve the date by first name, but doesn't provide full contact info or a quote. Finally, what should I expect to pay for rentals (tables, chairs, linens, dishware)? Thank you in advance for your help! Jesi
  3. Psst. Have you ever heard of a color called radiant orchid? If you haven't, you should take some time to familiarize yourself with this unique and gorgeous hue, because color style setters Pantone recently announced it the color of the year for 2014. This playful color combines several different shades of purple for a stunning overall effect. According to Pantone: Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health. For all our brides considering purple palettes, feast your eyes on these Radiant Orchid themed images for inspiration. We were tickled pink Radiant Orchid* by what we found, and we hope you are too. *is "tickled Radiant Orchid" a thing yet?
  4. By Yazmin De La Mora Dear Brides, We have been living in the area for more than 13 years already and 7 years working for different hotels as a Groups & Conventions Manager or as a Weddings Sales Manager. There are some Professional Wedding Planners in the area that offer the site inspections service. Since they live and know all the possible Hotels, Beach Clubs, Villas and Private Locations to hold a wedding in the area, they will help you to find the right location for you, depending on your taste, style, budget, month of the wedding and number of guests attending. A planned site inspection made from a Professional will save you time, money, stress and car issues than if you do it by yourself. We can assure than in a most of cases and based on your needs, in one single day, in no more than 6 hours we can find the ideal location for your wedding. Based on our experience, here are our suggestions before doing a Site Inspection in Mexico: 1. Before visiting Mexico, do your timeline. Prepare, plan and schedule all the Hotels or Locations you are interested to see. If you hire a Professional Wedding Planner, they will do it for you. 2. Define the locations you are interested to visit. Decide if they are Private Locations, Hotels, Beach Clubs or all of them. 3. Do a reservation. For most of Hotels you need to do a reservation. For most of Beach clubs it is not necessary to do a reservation. For all Private Locations you need to do a reservation. Why? If you do a reservation you can get a proper service from them and they have the time to be with you at least two hours and will have to answer all of your questions., offering you all the complete information such availability, room rates for the month you are requesting and the specific locations that are good enough for your wedding party, based on the number of people attending. If you do not do a reservation, you have a risk of not being able to visit the resort or to do a site inspection with a bell boy or someone that is not in the wedding business, so you will not get the proper answers and once you get back home it might take several days or even weeks to get that info. 4. Rent a car. Our suggestion will be to rent a car at the airport, 5. Get the right Map Visiting Hotels is always more easy to find since most of them are along the main highway and private locations are often in neighborhoods that are more difficult to find. The car rental company will offer a map. Make sure that you get the right map, there are 2 maps one for Cancun and another for the Mayan Riviera. 6. How it works Hotels a. Request in each different hotel, with the reservations or wedding department a special room rate for a site inspection, and a late check out. b. By staying at their hotel you will get all their attentions, possible up grades, site inspection and possible menu tasting. Beach Clubs a. With a reservation you can even arrange to have a menu tasting. Villas or Private Locations a. Print the map from the location and ask the property for specific directions, b. Plan your timeline and schedules with enough time in case you get lost, have car issues, so you can get on time in each location. Note: Do not forget to wear comfortable clothes, shoes and a cap, bring enough water, snacks, sun block, bug repellant and your camera! Here is a video from a site inspection that might help you. Happy planning!
  5. My Mayan Wedding Ceremony, An incredible Experience to Remember for the Rest of Our Lives… Thinking of what to do to surprise my guests and to make our wedding weekend unique and unforgettable, the idea of having a Mayan ceremony crossed my mind. However, I was having doubts since I had never experienced being in a Mayan ceremony before and I didn’t know what to expect. We were getting married in The Riviera Maya, during a very important year for the Mayan culture so we decided to go for it, although I never imagined the big surprise it would be for me and my husband…..it turned out to be the most incredible experience that we could have as a couple!! You have to know that for the Mayans, it’s a sacred ritual that is done to connect the souls of the couple, and be in touch with our creator. All the elements are involved in a spiritual practice where their mind is ready to receive the positive energy for their future life together. We arrived at the beautiful Le Reve Hotel & Spa at sunset time around 6 pm in September 2012, since I wanted the ceremony to be more spiritual than a party celebration, we invited only family members for a total of 30 guests (parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, and grandparents). I was wearing a casual dress and wasn't very worried about hair or makeup since I was saving the “vavavoom effect” for the wedding itself the following day. Our guests were welcomed by the “saumadora” (a Mayan girl that was using incense and the sacred copal), and a card with a short explanation of what was about to happen so we could get everyone into the Mayan ceremony mood. We then walked down to the altar holding hands, “our first walk as a couple and with the intention of joining our lives together”. At the altar the shaman welcomed us with the copal and He honored the 4 natural elements. The altar is where the spiritual part of the ceremony took place… it was represented by a circle on the sand that contained all the important elements of the ritual: flowers, cacao, corn, rice, beans, pumpkin seeds, rose petals, and obsidian stone. All of these elements contribute to be immersed in the atmosphere of spirituality and connection with nature and the 7 directions. For the Mayans, the earth represents our mortal body, the water is our blood, the wind is our breath and the fire is our spirit that never ends. That’s why the principal element of the ceremony is the fire; which is used in the incense, the sacred copal and torches. The ceremony was performed by a Mayan priest called “Shaman” in a Mayan language. However, he was doing the ceremony with another “Shaman” that was translating to everybody in Spanish step by step and explaining all of the meanings (it can be done in English too). The ceremony began with a ceremonial blessing for the 7 universal directions. Everybody moved together with the Shaman in the same direction: east, west, north, and south. Also up; (for cosmic energy), down (for mother earth), and the center, the bottom of the couple’s hearts. After this, the Shaman took the offerings of the altar for the couple to exchange their vows. During the ceremony we could feel the magic of the moment. We were surrounded by all our beloved, in front of the sacred sea, with a sunset light slowly changing to a gorgeous full moon and every word we were listening to was reminding us of the love we had for each other and the blessing of being together at the right time, in the right place, accompanied by the murmur of the sea and seashells instruments. I had tears of joy and happiness as the shaman asked us to look into each other eyes and feel the love…that was a precious moment that I can´t put into words. At the end of the ceremony we walked to the water and offered the seeds to the sea, at that moment I couldn’t be happier and I realized that from that moment our lives began as a blessed couple. It was a very intimate and magical ceremony, not a religion, not a protocol, it is something that you truly want to do as a couple; you want to be blessed in a more profound way. That’s why the ceremony guides you to being grateful for the universe, and for every living creature. During the ritual you realize that all these elements were combined in a certain way to help you find your beloved one…beautiful life circumstances! After the ceremony all of our family told us how wonderful and special the ceremony was, they had never experienced something like that before and they were very grateful to be a part of it. Besides it was a surprise for them because we invited them for a family dinner and never mentioned that we would have a Mayan ceremony. We ended the night by having an amazing dinner at Le Reve Hotel & Spa gardens right in front of the sea, enjoying the full moon and love from everyone. A very special night getting ready for our wedding the next day….. Arlenis not only chose Le Reve as her wedding venue but she is also the Wedding Coordinator at this resort. 6. If you’re tying the knot, or helping a loved one plan a wedding, hosting the nuptials in your own back yard is a great option. Garden weddings have a lot of things going for them: privacy, flexibility (you have full choice of dates and no time restrictions), and they’re inherently beautiful thanks to the natural setting. Getting married at home also saves a lot on a venue rental. And just as there are many types of gardens, there are many types of garden weddings. Dress up your garden, dress it down, or simply leave it as is for a picturesque natural backdrop. After all, they are naturally romantic, with lush surroundings and fresh plants and flowers bursting with life. Large or small, formal or informal, you can set up your garden to host any kind of wedding. Just don’t forget to take the following things into consideration. Tidy things up Just like great makeup begins with a good foundation, you’ll need to prep your garden well in advance. Take a look at the lawns; do you need to fix up any bare patches? Prune back overgrown trees, shrubs, or other areas? Rake up fallen leaves and loose clippings? Plant extra flowers? Take note of any damp, swampy areas and consider whether you should provide guests with an advisory note about suitable footwear. If your patio or driveway is due for some maintenance, now’s the time to get it done, so grab those garden tools and get going (or set some of the younger members of the family onto the task). Remember to also consider accessibility for any elderly or disabled guests. Decide on the theme Having a central theme allows you to create a consistent look. A garden wedding should make the most of nature, using complementary color schemes and making the most of the surroundings. Decorations Try using fresh cut seasonal flowers for centrepieces – you won’t need to look any further than your own flower beds. Daisies, dahlias, peonies, roses and hydrangeas are all commonly grown in household gardens and are also popular wedding blooms. You can also place bunches of fresh flowers all around your garden on the day to add color and enhance the special, festive atmosphere. Don’t go overboard, though – your garden’s natural beauty should be allowed to shine through. And why not use fresh herbs from your garden in the meals and drinks on the day? Mint can be used to infuse cocktails, for example. Have a back up plan Outdoors events always require a weather plan. What if it rains? A Plan B could include a marquee or tent for shelter. It also pays to provide some light blankets or other warm wraps for people to cover up in case it gets too chilly, particularly towards the end of the night. Food If you’re self catering, consider whether the in-house kitchen is large enough to provide for the number of guests. If you’re hiring a caterer, discuss how much space they will need for preparation. Choose your menu carefully, as you want to avoid items melting or drooping in the heat. And plan to keep your guests well hydrated – beverages should be available from the start and throughout the event. Music Will you be having a live band at the wedding? You’ll need dry and solid ground for the musicians to play on. If you don’t have a patio, look into erecting some kind of temporary platform for the band to set up their equipment on safely. Logistics Don’t overcrowd the space – invite only as many people as your garden can comfortably hold. Don’t forget to account for catering staff, photographer, musicians and any other vendors. Plan to provide easy indoor-outdoor flow with access to all garden areas so guests can mix and mingle easily. Make sure there will be enough seating, including some in the shade (you may also want to provide sunblock and insect repellent for guests’ use). Lighting is vital if your garden wedding will extend into the evening. Outdoor weddings lend themselves to tasteful, understated elegance. Candles and paper lanterns, or strings of colored lights are a great way of illuminating your garden. Determine if you’ll need any extension cords, how many outlets you’ll need, or consider installing solar lighting around the garden. As for power, it may pay to obtain a backup generator in case you need an emergency electricity supply. Parking is another matter to consider. You might want to inform your neighbors ahead of time if people will be parking in the street. Finally, you’ll need to provide bathroom facilities. If you’re making your indoor washrooms available, ensure they are well stocked with toilet paper and soap. Alternatively, you can rent portable toilets.
  7. Up, up, and away to your big day! But wait, not too fast. When you're getting ready for a destination wedding, you have to take a few extra steps to ensure that your wedding must-haves will arrive at the right place at the right time. The last thing you should be worrying about is missing bags and lost or stolen items. To alleviate the stress of a mishap, think BDW more than ever: Best Destination Wedding…Of course! But in this case, it stands for Baggage, Dough, and Worries! Baggage Keep your bags light and small enough to take as a carry-on. Because you’ll be getting on a plane for your destination wedding, and going someplace far away—perhaps even out of the country—traveling light is the best way to save money and ensure the safety of your belongings. Clothing, hair products, and accessories can add up in unnecessary pounds and hike up your baggage fees. To avoid paying steep prices, consider buying your toiletries and any other generic products once you have arrived or have them shipped in advance. Dough Use global wedding retailers like LightintheBox.com and Milanoo.com to ship your remaining essentials. Bridalholics’ best kept secret is online coupons that can get you deals and discounts up to 80% off on thousands of wedding items. For example, you can rack up the savings with a Light In The Box Coupon Code to score extravagant accessories, without paying retail prices for them. There’s no limit to the selection of wedding goodies you can find online, with a huge selection of everything from veils, shoes, and satin handbags for as low as $30 a piece. Worries Leave your worries and your prized possessions behind. There’s no reason to take your bling with you when you can find costume jewelry that sparkles just as brightly as the real deal. Keep your jewels safe and sound at home, or in a safe deposit box, and instead opt for less expensive fashion accessories that stunt double for the real thing. There is always a risk of getting your suitcase lost or stolen, stock full of your high-priced essentials before reaching your wedding hot spot. That’s why it’s important to pack only the items that you can afford to lose, take everything else (including your dress) in your travel carry-on, and get the remaining items shipped to your wedding destination for safekeeping. Stick with these simple housekeeping rules and celebrate your upcoming nuptials stress-free and as happy as can be! Have a BDW tip of your own? I’d love to hear from you! Share your thoughts below.
  8. The bride and groom have exchanged their “I do’s,” the officiate has pronounced them husband and wife, they turn to be received by their guests, and they are pelted with… glowsticks? Today’s brides are forever looking for ways to make their wedding unique, and the post-ceremony “toss” is just another way for you to incorporate your own personal flare! Traditionally the ceremony toss is done with rice to symbolize a fruitful marriage – in Ancient Greece it was customary to throw apples in the air for the same reason! – but today bride’s are looking for ways to be creative, and some venues have restrictions on what can be “tossed” around. We’ve all seen rose petals, bubbles, and sparklers, but what about something a bit different? Here are some of our favorites! Sprinkles: Birdseed (for our particularly eco-friendly brides): Confetti (look for biodegradable confetti, purchasable online): Flags or stick streamers (for venues that don’t allow you to leave anything on the ground): Spring loaded streamers (think New Years Eve crackers): Lavender seeds (smells good too!): Mini-Marshmallows: Pom-Poms: Mini-pom-poms: And our personal favourite... Mini Beach Balls!!! And don’t forget that how you package your ceremony toss, whatever it may be, is also a great way to personalize your wedding! For the DIY or thrifty bride: Always remember to check with your hotel for their policies before moving forward with any of these ideas! And let us know if you have something different you’ve seen or done at your own wedding!! Happy Planning! LUXE Destination Weddings
  9. Spring is officially here, and for many brides that means a wedding is not far behind. If you’re planning a spring wedding (and statistics tell us many of you are!) you are no doubt looking for flowers to add that perfect finishing touch to your special day. But with so many gorgeous options, it can be difficult to narrow the choices down and pick THE ONE. Plus, by the time you get to flowers you’ve likely already made so many decisions that if you don’t already have a clear vision of what you want it can be overwhelming. For all of our spring brides who need a little help with their bouquets, here are some tips on choosing flowers for your spring wedding! Option 1: Choosing Flowers by Color This one is a no-brainer and probably the easiest method. You likely have an overall color scheme for your wedding, so you can opt to choose flowers that either compliment or contrast with that scheme. Going with all white and light tones in your décor? Why not have your bouquet be the pop of color and go for something bold! Or, are your wedding colors big and bright? Calm things down by having a simple and stunning monochromatic bouquet in a pale color. Here are some of our favorite options in various color families to give you some ideas. Brights (Yellow, Hot Pink/Fuchsia, Orange, Coral) Lights (Light Pink, Blush, White, Ivory) Deeps (Purples, Blues, Reds) Option 2: Choosing Flowers by What’s in Season/Available at Your Resort So here’s where things get tricky. You may have your eye on a beautiful calla lily bouquet, but depending on when and where you are getting married, that bouquet may cost an arm and a leg. If you’re not picky and are more concerned with having a bouquet rather than what it’s composed of, you can opt to choose local flowers. We think going with the flow and using flowers that are native to where you’re getting married lends a unique touch to a destination wedding! Here are some options for flowers in some of the most popular BDW wedding destinations. Mexico: The national flower is the Dahlia, which is a beautiful flower and would make a lovely addition to any bouquet. Other popular spring flowers, like calla lilies, gardenias, orchids and tulips are also available, but you may end up paying more for those options. Check out this thread on Mexico flower availability for more. Jamaica: Jamaica’s national flower is the lignum vitae. It’s a striking shade of purple, but not really bouquet friendly as the blooms are on the small side. You can easily find hibiscus and orchids in Jamaica, as well as many other tropical flowers. You can thank the British for that—when they colonized the island in the 1600s, they planted lush botanical gardens with a variety of flower species from all over the world. Dominican Republic: The Dominican Republic is home to thousands of varieties of tropical flowers: orchids, hibiscus, jasmine and bougainvillea among them. Brides who are fans of these varieties should be pleased to know they are easily available year-round. Cuba: As with Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, tropical flowers such as orchids, hibiscus and bougainvillea are easily found in Cuba. Costa Rica: Any Costa Rica brides who love orchids are in luck! The national flower in Costa Rica is the Guaria Morada, a variety of orchid, and overall the country features over thirteen hundred species of orchids! Other popular and easily found flowers in Costa Rica include: white lilies, roses, snapdragons, sunflowers, carnations and tulips. Hawaii: The Hawaiian islands are host to a wide variety of beautiful tropical flowers. And because of the tropical climate, flowers bloom year-round making it relatively easy to find something in bloom, even in winter. This site helpfully lists all of the amazing Hawaiian flower options, organized by color for easy planning/browsing! Option 3: Choosing Flowers by Your Wedding Style/Theme: A third option is to choose flowers based on your overall wedding style or theme. Some of our favorites include vintage/romantic, nautical, and of course tropical. Below are inspiration bouquets for each theme. Vintage/romantic: Nautical: Tropical: Did we leave out a flower you love? We found this site, which lists flowers by season and includes info on which countries they are native to. 10. Created for you by Pierre Visual Studio. Destination Wedding and Trash the Dress Photography Finding your perfect wedding palette Wedding at Ak'iin Beach Club, Tulum-Mexico “The whole world, as we experience it visually, comes to us through the mystic realm of color. Our entire being is nourished by it.” Hans Hofmann German-born American Abstract Expressionist Painter, 1880-1966 A wedding’s color palette or color theme sets the mood for your special day. Whether with bold bright colors or softer whites and pastels, the color palette should reflect your personality and the message you want to send on your wedding day. If you are doing a beach wedding, don’t limit yourself to blues and yellows. With such a beautiful natural setting, the rainbow is wide open for you to customize your own rich color palette. Color basics: The rules have changed over the years. You are no longer limited to choosing 1 or 2 colors. Why not use a color theme such as “Snowy Winter” or choose a flower for inspiration like a bird-of-paradise? Most color combinations that really work will fall into the following four categories: Monochromatic: various shades of the same color. Example: shades of blue for an ocean inspired theme. Related Tones: colors that fall next to each other on the color wheel. Example: reds, oranges, and yellows for a warm “Fall” themed wedding. Complimentary Tones: colors that are across from each other on the color wheel. Example: orange and green can form a happy summer theme. Highlight: using mostly soft neutrals with one strong accent color for a bolder statement. Where to use color: Attire: traditionally, bridesmaids’ dresses were the primary source of color. However, many brides are opting out of a pure white gown and adding splashes of color to their own dress. More and more designers now offer non-white options for a brighter, bolder statement. Invitations: set your mood early by incorporating your color theme in your save-the-date and wedding invitations. Flowers, Décor, and Wedding Cake: use neutrals to help accentuate your color palette and avoid over-saturation. Favors: leave a lasting impression with meaningful favors that incorporate the colors and mood of your wedding. Considerations: Always take into consideration the existing colors at your wedding location. You can always play with the tones of your chosen colors to better compliment the surroundings. Color shades can also set a tone for the wedding. Light and bright for a laid back feel, deep and rich for a more formal event. Avoid too much black. It is a festive time and over use of black will not do it justice and could over-power the other colors in your palette. And finally, keep it unified. Avoid overelaborate palettes where it may be too difficult to coordinate. Wedding at Cancun Moon Palace Get Help: Samples: fabric stores and paint stores are great ways to find color samples that will help you put the palette together. Some paint manufacturers offer paint chips already arranged in gorgeous combinations. Interior design magazines often offer great ideas for home decoration and color selection. Those same styles and tones can easily translate to a beautiful wedding theme. Websites such as www.colorschemedesigner.com may not be wedding-specific but their color tools are perfect for playing around with color options, tones, and combinations. Get inspired! A walk to your local park, an art gallery, a botanical garden can all be great sources of color inspiration and you may even find yourself looking at color combinations you never imagined would touch you that deeply. Finally: Whichever your color palette, choose colors that speak to you and your partner. The more personalized the palette or theme, the richer the memories will be both for your guests and for yourself! Created for you by Pierre Visual Studio. 11. It’s finally Fall and that means the return of some of our favorite things: pumpkin spice lattes, leaves changing color, the start of the holiday season, but most importantly Fall colors and themes! For brides who are planning to embrace the Fall season in their wedding planning and décor there are a ton of fun options. But even if you’re not planning to go all out with a wedding that screams Fall, we found some elegant and subtle ways to incorporate the season in your big day. We’ve got it all covered from colors, flowers, décor, favors and even a few surprises you may not have considered. Keep scrolling for our finds! All images courtesy of Pinterest. You can follow BDW on Pinterest by clicking here! Colors We love that these options have both expected (reds, oranges, browns and golds) and unexpected (plums, blues, and greens) palettes. You can go full Fall with the expected end or aim for a more romantic and rustic interpretation with some of the softer colors. Flowers How cute and different is this boutonniere? And the simple "bouquet" is gorgeous too. Here are some more traditional bouquets incorporating the deep hues of Fall Centerpieces Why not try using some Fall produce to stage your flowers? These two options are gorgeous. Or, for a lighter touch, you could use the same idea but paint the pumpkin, squash, or vessel of your choice white and use lighter flowers: More options in those deep hues we love for Fall: Cake We love the trend of unfrosted cakes, and that style works perfectly with a rustic Fall theme if you incorporate flowers and fruits in the appropriate color palette: For another option, this cake gives a small nod to Fall with the adorable mini pumpkins, while the rest of the cake is classic and romantic: Why not incorporate some natural elements, like branches, to pull in the Fall theme? Pie Not a fan of cake? Well then Fall is definitely your season! Use those Fall pie flavors to your advantage and serve apple, pumpkin, and/or pecan pies. Check out these pie spreads for inspiration. Mini pies! Too cute! Favors One of the best parts of Fall has to be all of the rich, spicy flavors. Send your guests home with something yummy in the form of sweet candy apples or a mulling spice kit! Décor This setup with real trees is stunning and would be a big wow factor for guests. Here's one that's a bit simpler but still evokes the Fall theme: These candle holders feature leaf cut-outs and would be a really simple DIY! Put Fall in your décor, literally! We like this play on words over the appropriately themed dessert display of donuts and cider. Stationery: Post Ceremony Toss-Up: Here's one of our favorite Fall ideas that you may not have considered: instead of a birdseed, confetti, bubble or other toss-up, try using the natural surroundings and provide guests leaves to toss. Makes for a great photo op! Click here for some other fun post-ceremony toss-up ideas. Bridesmaids Gift This sweet leaf bracelet is a nice keepsake for any 'maids of a Fall wedding: Beauty: And you can even bring Fall into your wedding day look! A rustic headband with flowers and leaves would be an easy DIY or a fun Etsy find. We’d love to know: are you planning a Fall wedding or incorporating any fall colors or items into your wedding? 12. Out of my experience as a wedding photographer, one of the things I have learned to be very important in order to assure nice images, is the production of the event as a whole. What you are all looking for here on the forum is indeed the inspiration to create an event to never forget! Obviously, one of the important elements of this production is the ‘palette’ of colors which gives a particular character to your wedding. For weddings at the Caribbean, being mostly beach weddings, brides have the tendency to choose vivid colors like turquoise, but a less evident choice can create a beautiful world of its own. To help you choose the (combination of) colors, there is a theory about color. Stating that every color has the ability to create certain emotions in the viewer. Here are some very basic explanations: Red is a powerful color that represents strength, passion and vitality. It can create feelings of energy and excitement. The darker tones are associated with wealth, while rose is seen as romantic. Orange plays on the same kinds of emotions as red, but is much less aggressive. It is an upbeat and cheerful color that is known to generate a higher level of mental activity in the viewer and feelings of friendship. Yellow is an inarguably exuberant color. It instantly conjures thoughts of sunshine and summer, leaving the viewer with feelings of refreshment, energy, joy and honesty. In combination it’s dynamic and a rather dominant color. Green creates a sense of safety, relaxation in peoples' minds. It represents nature, health, well being and harmony; it’s fresh and keeps the balance between cold and warm colors. The darker tones are associated with tradition, prosperity. The green-blue on the other hand is fresh, youthful and of course tropical. Blue will more often than not evoke a general sense of calm and peacefulness. Navy blue is a true classic and provides a sense of stability, trust, power and strength. Lighter tones bring peace, relaxation and give a sense of integrity. Purple is another color that can have extremely soothing effects. It represents sophistication and spirituality, and can be perfect to create a sense of wonder, as brighter purples have an almost magical quality. The intense combination of blue-violet is a royal color, associated with courage, authority and nobility. Classically it is combined with gold, but in combination with lemon yellow it’s much more vivid. Just as the lighter, fuchsia tones is one of the most energetic colors. It suggests a young, active state of mind. While not technically part of the color wheel, White can still be used to evoke an emotional response. It is widely regarded as a representation of purity, and can promote feelings of trust and is therefore the traditional wedding color. Black represents depth and power. Good usage of black can give a professional feel and bring about feelings of sophistication and steadiness. And is again a traditional fashion color. You can make different combinations of colors, the first one being complimentary, which means the colors are opposite in the circle (e.g. green red or blue orange). Or complementary divided, combining one color with the tone just next to its complementary color (e.g. orange blue-green and orange blue-violet). An analogue combination is the combination of a color with the tones just next to it and is considered as especially harmonious (e.g. blue green blue blue violet). The color accents can go from some subtle details in flowers to the dresses of bridesmaids and –men, accessories (fans, ceremony booklets) and (table) decoration. You might not be aware of it but lightning also plays a major role in creating an ambience in a certain location. You can chose to keep it non sophisticated with the evergreens of the wedding colors: Delicate white and beige:Aly + Nick Create one main color accent: Red-orange: Maud + Jonathan Red-violet: Lindsey + Eric Or make a combination: Red and Green: Isis + Eugenio Beige, blue and dark blue: Lindsay + Josh A combination of soft pastel colors which gives a very romantic atmosphere: Karla + Gianni This last example I like especially because the couple pops out with the very stylish absence of color, in contrast with the finely used main color, blue-green: Amy + Kacy
  13. Destination Wedding Dress Trends 2012 When anyone mentions a destination wedding, the mind will often jump to an image of a tropical or Caribbean island on the beach, the bride and groom silhouetted in front of a large wavy reddish-orange sun setting over the ocean. What is this bride wearing in your mind? What would your dress look like in this image? How does your dress change if the phrase "destination wedding" is preceded by one of these, "mountain", "Scottish castle", "ski resort", or "Las Vegas"? The options are limitless! But what is the right dress for your destination wedding? The trends for 2012 vary widely when talking about destination weddings simply because all destination weddings are not in a beach location. The destination wedding trend has expanded in many directions. This year the destination wedding trends are based upon the destination. Since this is YOUR special day, you have the freedom to choose a destination for your wedding based upon anything you and your groom deem important. You can choose the location for your wedding by the style of your dream wedding dress, the name of the destination, or the location and scenic views. Whatever your reason for choosing a certain destination, there is a fabulous wedding gown that is just right for your memorable event! Wedding Dresses with Blush or Color Yes! The biggest new trend for any wedding dress in 2012 is the option to choose a new color! No more white and ivory! Brides may now choose a very pale light pink or blush colored dress! This is HUGE considering the traditional “bride wears white” thinking. As with any wedding dress, there are many things to consider as you search for THE PERFECT dress. You must consider the season in which the wedding will be held, the weather for the season and location, and your body. Now on to destination wedding dress trends for 2012! Beach Wedding Trend The 2012 trend for a "Tropical destination wedding" or beach wedding dress is to choose a short or tea length dress with graceful flowing layers. You will want a dress that is made from light materials such as lace or chiffon with a sweetheart neckline (but this can be covered for modesty). Corset tops are also a big trend in 2012. For a beach wedding, you will want a corset that is simple and lightweight. Cruise Wedding Trend Some couples decide to get married on a cruise on the way to their honeymoon destination. The mermaid style, trumpet style, or sheath/column style dresses are the best suited for a cruise wedding in 2012. The fabric and sleeve style depend on the cruise origination and destination. If your cruise is in a tropical climate, you may choose spaghetti straps, strapless, or lacy sleeves. Two Gowns for Destination Weddings Absolutely! There is an emerging trend in which the bride will have two gowns for the wedding. These brides wear a long elegant gown for the ceremony and pictures, and then they change into a second gown for the reception. The second gown is typically less restricting, often tea length, and a similar style as the first dress that was worn for the ceremony. This is a good option for a cruise destination wedding, especially if your cruise will be in different climate areas during your wedding. This trend is not only for destination weddings though. Any bride can have two dresses for any reason. Many brides choose a second dress to have the freedom to “party” or (if they are thinking ahead, and all brides should) if the destination for your wedding has a drop in temperature after the sun goes down. Castle Wedding Trend Travel now to a castle for a fairytale wedding. There are so many castles around the world, such as Camelot Castle Hotel in Cornwall, England (and of course, let us not forget Cinderella’s Castle in Disney World!) that you will be able to find at least one that is meaningful for your ceremony and celebration, and fits into your budget. The 2012 dress trend for a castle destination wedding is to wear a floor length flowing gown, a corset that has a sweetheart neckline, with a long train. The longer the dress and train the better! Elegant and over the top! You are a "princess" bride after all!! For a castle wedding, you could also choose a gothic or Victorian style dress. There are so many possibilities with destination weddings a girl may have a difficult time deciding on one! Mountain Destination Wedding Trend Mountain weddings are a unique destination location because they can vary so much in atmosphere and climate. The dress trend information out there about mountain destination weddings is to choose a heavy ball gown with layers of petticoats, long sleeves or a Bolero jacket. If you are choosing your destination by the dress you want, this type of dress will give you the option to have your wedding in the French Alps or in the Colorado Rocky Mountains at a ski resort . Wherever your dreams come true This is your wedding and if your fantasy wedding has you dressed as an ice princess getting married to your knight in shining armor there is a perfect destination for you at either the ICE HOTEL in Quebec-Canada or the ICEHOTEL Sweden. You can BestDestinationWedding.com to search all over the world so you can find the beach, castle, resort, mountain, vineyard, or ice hotel of your dreams! You can have a unique destination wedding with a gown that your friends and family will rave about for years. Destination weddings are more than just beaches and ocean sunsets now!

  15. Have you ever been to that wedding where there were people dressed in clashing outfits? There's no doubt about it, today´s weddings trends have rapidly evolved from previous years!! Here are some of the ever changing wedding trends: Instead of Round Tables Consider Long Banquet Seating Why would you want to consider this? Although it may not be the ideal choice or situation for great conversation in small groups, many brides are choosing the option of long banquet tables as opposed to round tables. Long tables can provide more seating for guests and give a kind of a rustic and modern or vintage look. The only thing to keep in mind is the size of the table in order to ensure all of the decor and place settings fit properly as you won't have as much center space. You want to make sure that you do your best to avoid clutter. One idea if the your table is really long, is putting one or two floral centerpieces and perhaps scatter flower petals on the rest of the table. Also be sure to keep the height of the centerpieces in mind as you want your guests to be able to engage with the guest across from them. Bridesmaid dresses have undergone a huge change from the past, thank God!!! We say a little prayer for the fact that the all in one matching color and style of bridesmaid dresses is now becoming a thing of the past! Different styles such as long, short, and with different colors and styles are now being seen everywhere. You could try the rainbow look this summer with the each of the girls wearing a different bright shade. Accessories such as barefoot jewelry, bib necklaces, and florals are being mixed up a bit so each girl has something unique to carry or wear. Late night fun food as a midnight snack is forever growing with different and unique ideas. You want to keep you guests happy into the night so you can have a fabulous reception that goes into the wee hours, making your special day last even longer. If that's what you want of course! Some ideas include: milk and cookies, a candy or popcorn bar, hamburgers, pizza, nacho bar, It’s a great way to end the evening with your guests! What trends are you incorporating into your wedding? Share your ideas and tips with us, we can´t wait to hear what you have in mind! Dream Weddings Riviera Maya http://www.dreamweddingsrivieramaya.com [email protected] +52 984 145 9035
  16. Decor and Flowers is a large investment in your wedding...as part of your design you always should consider the lighting.. that will give the last great touch to your decor. If you are getting those beautiful flowers as centerpiece , you may consider direct lights to each table in addition to the lights that your entertainment will have.See below how different the flowers look without lighting! This is without lights This is with Lights!! How different right? The modern weddings are not longer using static lights , now the lighting should projected to the walls or columns , also and specific lights in the dance floor. Always keeping inn mind the style of the wedding, for example if this is a romantic-rustic we should use a medium level of regular yellow light helped with a lot of candles all around , but if you are looking for modern-lounge wedding bright colors in the columns ...leds and robotics lighting should be used!! Remember a good decor NEED a good lighting design. Thank you and Happy planning.
  17. Besides finding the perfect dress (and the perfect guy, of course), one of the most important decisions that will keep you up until the wee hours of the morning revolve around those blasted centerpieces. 20. You're invited to the Real Wedding of... Priyanka & Cliff Wedding Details Bride Priyanka (BDW user mizpriya) Groom Cliff Wedding Date April 23, 2013 Location Gran Caribe Real Cancun, Mexico Hometown Milton, Canada Pictures from Priyanka & Cliff's destination wedding (click to enlarge): Why did you choose to have a destination wedding? There were several reasons why we decided to do a destination wedding. Cost was the major factor. Our priority was not to spend a fortune on a beautiful wedding because we wanted to have a house and a home to live in before doing so. We bought our house before getting married and spending thousands of dollars on one day was not in our budget. Another reason we decided to go this route was because we saw how laid back weddings were for other couples who did destination weddings. I had been to 3 and Cliff had been to two of our friends. It was really inexpensive for them. Lastly, we have friends and family all over the world- people were coming from India, Singapore, Dubai, USA and all over Canada. It didn’t make sense to just have one day for the wedding to spend time with all these people who came from all over the map just for us. We wanted to ensure we were able to spend time with all of our guests…for some of us it was a reunion because we hadn’t seen each other in years. This was the perfect setting for all of us to connect and spend quality time by the beach just chilling and relaxing. Why did you choose your location? When we were researching resorts and venues for our wedding, there were a few things that were really important to us, and we really stressed this with our travel agent who was helping us find the perfect location. Number one was it had to be under $1500 (for flight and hotel stay) for those of us traveling from Canada since the majority of people were coming from here. For those who were coming from out of town, the cost was pretty decent for them as well- and the fact that so many people came from out of Canada is a true testament to that! Secondly, we wanted a small, intimate resort. We both had been to destination weddings where the resort was so big, it was hard to find people. And since our priority was to spend quality time with everyone, the smaller resorts were key to us. We also hated walking everywhere just to get somewhere! Lastly, we are big foodies, so good food was important to us. Gran Caribe Real Cancun was the ideal location as it met all of our requirements down to a T! What were your wedding colors and/or theme? We selected red and yellow for our colours. We were making our wedding website and we had a picked a theme from the templates we had and they had the colours red and yellow. I knew I wanted red as one of the colours- being half Indian, it is a colour you would see traditionally. And when we saw the template, we were just like “Oh, that’s a nice combination!” So it really was by fluke that we made that selection, but it worked out very nicely when we saw the pictures. It was quite unique as we had never seen anyone do that before. We also wanted to keep it very relaxed with the décor. We just played up with the beachy scenery and added seashells and burlap all over the place. Every wedding is special in its own right. What made your wedding unique? Our wedding was special because of all the small details that we put into it. We wanted to do unique things that had a lot of meaning for both of us. From the beginning stages of the wedding planning, we wanted to add our own touches that were not your cookie-cutter wedding details. We made our boarding pass invitations together as a couple. I designed it and personalized it according to our personalities. We wanted everything to reflect the love we shared with each other and spread it with the group. We wrote our own vows and even edited the script that the officiant read to suit our personalities. Our wedding was definitely not your traditional, run of the mill kind of wedding. I had a Man of Honor rather than a Maid of Honor. None of the groomsmen had boutonnières - just my Man of Honour. My bridesmaids had no bouquets, instead I made them red clutches to hold that had a flower on it and was personalized with their names on the inside. My Man of Honor was the ring bearer as well and he held the rings in a Mexican painted pottery that was filled with sand. We had no DJ. My best friend sang our first dance song. We had no mother-son, father-daughter dances. It was very simple and perfect for us. Even for the bouquet and garter toss…we had everyone get up to participate instead of just the single guys and girls. We wanted to have fun and make the day be a celebration of our love. AND we even had fire dancers at the wedding! No one in my group has ever had that so we thought we were pretty cool and special to be the first couple to do that for their wedding! 21. Ombre is a very popular trend this year and we've seen it pop up in food, fashion, and everything in between. The best part about ombre is that you can use it on any color palette-- just vary the shades to achieve the overall look! Blues and greens are especially striking near the crystal clear water at destination beach weddings, but you really can't go wrong with any color theme! We've seen so many fun and creative ideas for how to incorporate the trend into weddings, so without further ado here are some of our favorite pics. 24. Tips on how to Calculate a budget for a wedding in Puerto Vallarta These are some general guidelines to prepare an estimate or your "mas o menos" budget for your destination wedding when it is not in an all-inclusive hotel scenario or a restaurant. I assume other venues are similar in the way they operate so this could be handy for you even if you are not choosing Martoca Beach Garden as your venue for your wedding. The venue should rent here in Puerto Vallarta area for 2,200 to 5,500 dollars on a beach front setting. The price also depends on wether it is a weekday or a weekend since weekdays are usually half price. Some places are villas so they charge you 5 night stays mandatory which could cost up to 10,000 a night for the villa which has many rooms. The catering may vary from 30 dollars a person to 150 dollars a person. This includes tables, chairs, dinnerware and service andall that is needed for catering and the banquet setting. Anything more and you are paying way too much. Unless of course a world class chef is doing the cooking and even then it would have to be a 6 or 7 course dinner. The Open bar should cost from 25 dollars a person for beer and wine and soft drinks to 55 dollars for a specialty bar and a full premium bar with top notch liquors. A decent average bar should be 35 usd per person for 8 hour open bar. DJ and dace floor for 8 hours should cost you from 800 usd up to no more than 3,000 usd with all included for a big nightclub setting with LED lighting, strobe lights, smoke and whatever else you can think for entertainment. The ceremony gazebo should cost anywhere from 300 dollars and up since this varies with taste and decorations. Mostly flowers can make the biggest difference in cost. A simple setting should be 300 usd. These are the core items for a wedding in a venue. Wedding planners charge 10% of the total cost of the wedding or they may charge a flat fee. A good fully bilingual coordinator will charge about 2,000 dollars for a good quality wedding. There are others who may charge 1,000 dollars but the service will be lacking much promptness and they will not be able to speak English effectively. There are however wedding designers who charge 5,000 or 6,000 dollars for there services. it really depends on your budget and your desire for special decorations. Most of the extra cost is spent on flowers and special decorations or handmade items. It definately makes a difference but if you just want a great party with good food and drinks and excellent music and fun the whole enchilada should run you on average about 200 dollars a person for a very nicely decorated wedding wit great quality food and service. Happy hunting for your perfect spot that suits your budget.
  25. The Lovebird Wedding Theme Are you wondering what ‘theme’ to base your wedding on? Wedding themes are not a necessity but can definitely add some fun details to your special day! One option for a theme is that of the Lovebird. The definition of a lovebird is as follows: Small parrot noted for forming close bonds with their mates for the whole of their lives. Why not add a little bit of lovebird décor to your Big Day? Below are some tips on how to do so. Invitations and Programs: Start including this theme from the very beginning of your wedding planning process. If you choose to send Save the Dates, add an image of a bird to the template. This image can be used throughout the rest of your wedding stationery from the invites to the programs, even the escort cards. Use the definition of what a lovebird is, seen above, and add this to the programs you hand out to your guests or include it on a sign displayed at your reception. Centerpieces: To incorporate this theme into your centerpieces, find antique birdcages that can be filled with beautiful flowers. Another option is to add sticks or even feathers to your centerpieces. This does not need to be over the top but is a way to add some fun details to your decorations. Favors: If you have decided to give favors to your guests, you could provide them with egg shaped chocolate candies. Another option is to give out ornaments in the shape of a bird. There are a lot of possibilities out there, you just have to be creative! Interested in having live birds at your wedding? Many brides and grooms will let out doves during the ceremony or you can choose to have a few displayed in a beautiful cage, possibly by your programs or during the cocktail hour. As with everything about your wedding, the most important thing is that it reflects you and your future husband! Remember to have fun with it!!
