  1. hmmm i'm torn cuz i love option #1, but i understand budget and i think the white #3 would look great with the purple dresses maybe splurge and get yourself option #1 and the rest the others?
  2. i went for my hair trial the other day...and i thought it looked nice in the salon. i had my hairdresser take photos, but when i got home and actually looked at it...it does not photograph well. the back looks good, but the front view is not flattering with the shape of my face. i really think i need to have my hair pulled back out of my eyes, but still falling down the sides of my face. my hair is straight but really thick and it gets frizzy in the humidity. any suggestions on hair products i can bring with me to mexico?

  4. wow so detailed...good review! loved the cookie cutter/recipe place cards!
  5. we are doing maracas for the DW and chocolate roses for the AHR
  6. has anyone purchased maracas or regular size somberos at the resort (the hacienda)? just wondering what the cost is? we have an idea for the photog we are thinking of doing...just trying to budget another 'extra' cost. thanks!
  7. very sorry to hear about your father passing. it's pretty unbelievable all this frustration you have had with signature. i can't even imagine. so glad we didn't book with them or do a group rate quote. good luck with the rest of your planning...and let's hope that is the last of your stress until the big day.
  8. I met the ladies at the September bridal show 09. They seemed so great. Same thing they took about 2 weeks to contact me with a quote and it was about $300-600 more than if we booked online ourselves. They said they would price match and then they wouldn't do it. I heard from them again in mid-November and we still hadn't booked anything yet. They quoted me the same prices and the trip on any other travel website was $700 cheaper. So needless to say we just had our guests book their trips themselves instead of a group rate quote as I also had a poor experience with Flight Centre too. So far all of our guests who have booked are glad they got to pick & choose which dates worked best for them, and which location to fly out of. Some are doing Detroit, some Toronto. Funny thing is this company wouldn't stop emailing after I told them we booked elsewhere.

I'm also worried if it is safe to take the tours or should we just stay at the resort? it is sad about the crime happening yes. but just be realistic about your safety when you travel. keep the same rules when you are at home. you don't go to the bad areas, you don't go out alone at night, don't wear flashy jewellery, don't get into fights with strangers, if you drink alcohol in public keep it to a minimum or make sure you have someone who will be responsible for your well-being/safety to get you back to your room. crime happens everyday in every city, and every country. the media is all over this story...remember h1n1 last year. as for tours...book through the resort or your on site travel agent as they keep track of guests better than if you go off and book something on your own. also if you take a cab from your resort most of them will write down your name, room number, cab number and where you are planning on going to keep track of you as well and you check in when you get back. but if you don't feel comfortable with that...nothing wrong with relaxing at the resort.
  10. good tip. we put at the bottom of ours... 'note you are replying to the reception on (date) for the reception' we are having an AHR as well as DW and we didn't want people to get confused which part they were replying too...because people always do, eh. the one issue we are experiencing is we have 3 meal options for them to choose from. the reception venue had asked if we could colour code the name place cards at each table for each guest so the wait staff will know who to bring which meal too. well the rsvp wasn't done to specify which guest is having which meal. so now we have to either contact each guest to ask or see if the reception venue will let us tell them how many meals per table instead. so confusing.
  11. there is this one 'wedding by color' - Wedding By Color - Home- Free Wedding Blogs & Brides' Online Community
  12. you have the best smile! so happy in every photo! great pics...you look beautiful. congrats!
  13. well i think the one thing you can realize about reading other people's experiences... you are not the only one. i have still yet to get married...(another month or so). but when we first got engaged some of my closest friends never said anything about it, or asked about wedding plans. i had more people who i barely know what to know every detail. it was frustrating because i wanted to share it with my friends. why they were like that i don't know. they are not married, so maybe it's envy, or maybe it's just not interested. i never bring up the topic with anyone unless they ask first. sucks it has to be that way, but it is. we have family members who aren't making the trip because they think it's too much money (even though they have known about it for 14 months). FI and I said from the beginning we will invite everyone we want their (and our parents want) and if they come they come, if they don't they don't. i don't know why people get so weird about this stuff...but they do. it is eye-opening who is truly there for you. just make sure to really appreciate the ones who are.
  14. so glad i stumbled across this post as i was just wondering what/how to do all of this. good tip about not changing the passport until it expires and booking tickets under maiden name.
  15. can't help you with the part about being from BC... but my brother lived there, and he got married in his living room, had the commissioner come there. he said it was easy, and they actually had a surprise wedding for a few friends. they thought they were coming over for dinner. (no family was invited...so 5yrs later there is still some disappointment about that)
  16. looks great! smart idea about adding at the end about dietary restrictions (i always appreciate that as i have food allergies)
  17. awww i love it! your pics turned out so great. you both look happy and she really captured the moment so well. i'd be content with just that as the wedding... can't wait to see your DW pics now!
  18. first we told family & friends over a year in advance we were planning a DW. we booked the resort in november and sent out STD postcards to everyone. on the STD we put a link to our wedding website, so they could informally RSVP (about 8 people have so far...so it's not effective/reliable) we did not book a group rate quote for travel plans as the costs were way too high...so we explained the reasoning on our website, plus through word of mouth & email and a few phone calls we mailed out our formal invitation about 3 weeks ago (so about 2 months in advance), the rsvp is for the formal AHR only. so far we have 31 guests booked for mexico, and 36 for the AHR (most of those people who rsvp'd right away for the AHR are not coming to mexico), and besides family most of the people going to mexico aren't coming to the AHR. what i have found through talking to other people as well...it's very inconsistent what people will do. some people have had great response with their wedding website, we haven't. i have so much info on their that if anyone asks i just tell them to read the site. good luck.
  19. great brochure. did you print them yourselves or get them done somewhere? just realized we are at the resort around the same time. you'll probably see us partying on the 23rd!
  20. my BM's are wearing black dresses, and i let them pick out their own style. they will be carrying a bouquet with our complementary colours. we are having a peacock themed wedding, but i didn't want to go overboard with the colours.
